Wuthering Waves: For The Future of Me, Myself and I

Chapter 19: Awakening. Part 3

"Hah- Fuu..."

Almost there.

"!"

Katsuri jumped to the left, barely missing the massive chunk of rocks that had flown towards her from the back.

A single glance was enough to make her heart skip a beat.

Immediately after her gaze swept back, she dived into the ground as the sound of a massive object swishing through the air went over her head.

Her hair was filled with dirt and dust, her legs burning with no energy remaining.

Fortunately, both the Tacet Discord were also fighting one another, otherwise she would've been dead a long time ago.

The occasional sound of crashing behind her as she dashed across the closed field proved that they were also going after her, but had their attention taken away by one another.

Katsuri rolled to the side as her jacket got caught under the sharp attachment on the orb.

Without thinking twice, she took off her jacket, now being left with only her shirt and shorts.

Although it was quite a shame, she can't grieve the lost of some possessions while her life is on the line.

The floating eye grabbed onto the floating orb using both its sentient hands, effectively freeing her from its grasp.

As the floating eye pulled back the orb, Katsuri stood up and ran, straight onto the hordes of smaller TDs.

She can't waste time.

The small horde of TDs finally took notice of her and jumped her. Fortunately, she expected this as she dodged to the side.

But a sharp pain caught her off guard as she felt her ankle sprained.

Her eyes widened.

'Why now!?'

"Guh!"

One of the Tacet Discords got a hold of her left leg, the one that she felt had been sprained.

It hugged it tight. Although its body was soft, the strength in which the small Tacet Discord put into it's grip was astounding.

Katsuri felt like screaming but held it back as dealing with more TDs coming her way wouldn't be desirable.

Simply put, she grabbed a rock and smashed it on the head of the small TD as it finally let go of her.

But as soon the grip loosened, her gaze raised.

Massive eye with a top hat was looking straight at her, around it and grabbing a hold onto it was the small horde of TD that she had tried to get to work together with her.

It seemed that her plan had worked as although its attention was straight on her, it couldn't do anything but just watch since it's being held back by the others.

This is an opportunity, she needed to grasp it now lest she'd be dead meat.

Her hands swayed the air as she got a hold onto the ground. She turned around and tried to dash away before the pain on her ankle caused her to stumble.

"Agh!"

'Shit! Wake up damn it!'

She punched her leg, the one that had let her down during the most important moment.

Her heart dropped as she sensed a presence right above her.

The orb, it was now right on top of her with its scissor-like attachments, ready to cut her in half.

Her world stopped moving.

Katsuri's mind worked quickly, trying its best to come up with a way to survive this.

But it all came up with blanks, as if there's no future in which she'd be able to survive.

'I don't like this.'

The world started moving in slow motion as the two blades were slowly encroaching her body.

'Why me?'

She barely raised her arm to cover her face, afraid to look at what's about to happen.

'Why am I even here?'

Slowly, the blades met her shoulder.

The next moment, she woke up.

Cold sweat poured down her pores, her heart beating as fast as that time she was running.

"Hah... Fu...."

Catching her breath, Katsuri hugged herself.

'That's real. It happened. I did not imagined it.'

Tears started to come out of her eyes but she immediately wiped it off with her arms. Then, she grabbed her head.

'What... do I do?'

Nothing worked. She doesn't have a weapon to defend herself with, there's nobody nearby to save her.

All she had was herself.

For some reason, she didn't die.

What could she do with this information?

Nothing.

If she can't die, then doesn't that mean there's just an infinite amount of ways in which she could die?

'I don't want this.'

'Bring me back.'

'I swear, I won't leave. Please let me out of this hell hole.'

It's useless. She's just a small teenager. She's not strong enough to survive the wild.

She still needed someone to guide her around the world, give her experiences which she lacked.

In a sudden turn of event, her gaze met a handle.

The one place that was previously empty now has a sword stuck inside of it.

A very familiar one.

It's exactly the one she had found in her first vision.

Does that mean that was also real? Then why is she still here?

Listlessly, her hand got a hold of the handle.

It was rough, but not in a bad way.

It gave the sword enough grip so that it doesn't slip in the middle of a fight. Very useful if anyone were to say anything.

But something was different from before.

As she pulled on it, it came out smoothly. Unlike previously where she had to extend such large effort to even move it.

It came out.

She held it up, it was very light.

Almost too light, as if she was wielding a pen.

If that was the case, doesn't that mean it wouldn't deal any damage?

After all, she's weak. If the weapon she wields doesn't have any weight, then how could she damage the enemy?

BOOM!

The sound of crashing crept closer.

She swung it around. She had expected it would get stuck on the rock around her but instead, it felt like everywhere around her were empty air. As if she was standing out in the open.

Confused, she look around.

Slash marks here and there covered the rubble in which she was hiding in.

Since the sword was longer than she is tall, the slash marks were very deeply indented into her surrounding.

She could feel a grin creeping up her face.

Although it was very faint, she smiled.

With a weapon this sharp, she wouldn't have to worry much.

That was until...

CRASH!!!!

The rock formation she was hiding inside collapsed on her as the weight of the floating orb that got thrown away by the floating eye landed above her, effectively burying her alive.

It was silent for a moment.

The orb floated up, as if not realizing that it had crushed something. Immediately, it flew past the rubble and straight into fighting the floating eye again.

The now dusty rubble moved.

A rock fell down.

Then, a sword stabbed through the ground, appearing where the orb had last laid over on.

Following it was a small hand, then another.

A head escaped the rubble, covered in blood and tears.

Katsuri gritted her teeth.

She had survived.
