Wuthering Waves: For The Future of Me, Myself and I

Chapter 20: Awakening. Part 4

"Think I'm done? Fuck off, I'm getting out of here in one piece!" Katsuri growled her inner thoughts towards the two creature.

Could they understand her? Probably not, but it helps her mental state stabilize.

Feeling her hand numb, a bone or two is probably broken.

Her vision is covered in red, there's probably a massive wound on her head hidden under her hair.

"Ptui!" Spitting out a piece of rock, she licked her lips. Her eyes, despite witnessing death on multiple occasions, shows willpower instead of despair.

It dawned on Katsuri while lying under the fallen rubble that she's using something on the spiritual level.

It was like her soul was being taken away every time she died. Due to that, she's able to turn back time(somewhat) every time she dies. That would also explain why it would only activate every time she died.

For what reason does she have this?

No clue!

But does it help?

Physically? Absolutely.

Mentally? She wants to kill herself already.

Plus, she had a feeling that she's been using the ability too much.

If she were to explain it in gaming terms, it would be like using mana to use an ability.

If she had enough mana at the point in which her HP reached 0%, then she'd be able to turn back time to a 'check point' of some sort.

But that were the case, does that mean she died inside the restroom?

Based on the amount of 'mana' she has left, she could somewhat deduce how many times the ability had been used.

To be precise, it seemed like 7 times.

Which means, she had died 7 times.

If her theory is right, then it would explained quite a bit of stuff.

'Wait, isn't this just Return by Death? No, he could use that infinitely, meanwhile it seemed like I can only use mine 2 more times.'

Nine lives.

She had used up 7 of them.

Katsuri could somewhat remember how she died 5 times. It seemed to her that she had missed 2 different lives.

Unfortunately, she can't come up with more theories as she would first need to survive this encounter.

How?

Well, the only way she could think of. By defeating these two abominations that had haunted her since her arrival.

But even that had sounded impossible. Too bad she doesn't have a say in this.

Like, she could run, perhaps even throw her sword on the floating eye like she did the first time using her gun, but then how would she make it so that the floating orb would get distracted?

Plus, they were both faster than her, they would most definitely catch up in no time.

No coincidence could align.

The stars were not on her side, they never was.

In that case, she's going to devour them.

To survive.

Katsuri grabbed the sword using her left hand since her right hand had probably a few broken bones in them.

It was painful, she doesn't want to feel more of it.

Her gaze swept the battlefield, frowning as she tried to think of a way to beat the two TDs.

Swosh!

Jumping down from the rubble, Katsuri first ducked to dodge the attack of the floating eye who had used the two sentient hands.

In technicality, she was fighting 4 opponents. But since the floating eye seemed to be controlling the hands, it counts as only 3 for 1.

So it's a 1v1v1, a three way battle royal with only one winner coming on top.

Katsuri swung her sword, only reach empty air as the floating eye got tackled by the floating orb.

Due to that, her sword instead hit the sides of the orb, sparks flying as she realized how tough the skin of this Tacet Discord was.

She had clearly seen how this sword could cleanly cut through rocks like butter, which means this bastard was harder than rocks.

But if once doesn't work, she just needed to do it more times.

Katsuri used her sword's hilt as a shield as she blocked the sharp stab that had. She stumbled out of the way, effectively canceling the momentum which allowed her to escape without any injury.

Tilting her body back, a hand goes above her face as she watched it hit the scissor from the floating orb.

Clank!

Annoying noise entered her ears.

Katsuri flinched but did not allow that to distract her.

She immediately slashed towards the eyes, barely missing as its top hat fall from the head.

Seeing her attack missed, she dash away, trying to create distance.

The two TDs started wrestling it out as she watched with bated breath.

Maybe just waiting for them to kill each other before she dealt with the remaining one would work.

But that thought dissipates as she realized that the only reason she's able to survive this whole time was because they had been stopping each other from dealing the final blow.

So, how could she be the victor?

She would need to deal with the two of them simultaneously.

She wiped her eyes which was starting to become blurry at the amount of blood she had lost.

She's almost out of time.

A race in which her life was on the line.

She looked around swiftly, trying to see if there's anything she could use to heightened her chance of winning.

Quickly, she saw it.

It was her surrounding.

The ruins, she could use them.

Katsuri got closer to the massive wall and started slashing at it.

Since it was made of stones, everything she does felt quite repetitive.

There were no weight in her hand, and she's slashing air, that's what it felt like.

Her eyes occasionally locked onto the two TDs, just in case their attention suddenly switched to her.

Fortunately, she had finished setting up her plan. Now, just needed to put it to action.

"Hah... Please work, I beg of you."

If this fails, then she might just be out of option.
