Wuthering Waves: For The Future of Me, Myself and I

Chapter 18: Awakening. Part 2

"Thank you, uncle."

"Don't worry about it. It was an honor on my part to be able to even lay a hand on such fine masterpiece. But I do feel a bit concerned about how badly damaged it had become. When was the last time you sent it for repairs?"

"Uh... I don't remember."

"Really? Well, that's alright. Make sure you take good care of that baby, k? Would be a shame if it actually snaps in half."

"Yes, thank you very much."

After a few more pleasantries, Danjin walked away from the blacksmith. She unsheathed a little bit of her sword, noticing it gleams under the sunlight.

She smiled before sheathing it back and placing it on her waist.

Now she has her weapon back.

At the very least, she wouldn't need to worry about maintenance for a while. But she would need to do it at least after every battle.

As long as she doesn't encounter any hard-skinned Tacet Discord, everything should be alright.

Now that she's got her weapon back, she'd finally be able to go back to exploring Rinascita.

As Danjin glanced around, she noted the fact that the crowds had indeed grown in number from when she first arrived.

Although it still wasn't so packed, it still felt a little suffocating.

So many people from different nations had come to visit for the Carnevale. This just shows the scales in which the importance of the success of this event is for Ragunna.

It seemed that the Carnevale was really close. Although, she had one concern.

Danjin thought back to the girl that had collapsed near the bathroom mirror.

Katsuri.

She was still asleep.

[Wuthering Waves]

"..."

Katsuri laid on the floor.

She was surrounded by rubbles of rocks and stones. From their texture, it seemed to her that they were what used to be a wall of a building from ancient times.

Perhaps ruins?

But why is it that this place feels familiar?

Boom! Boom!

Crash!

"...Ah."

No wonder.

If she is where she think she might be, then isn't this situation fucked up?

Just to confirm her thoughts, she sat down and looked at a familiar spot.

Previously, a sword was sticking out of that stone. But now, there's nothing.

'Was it all... a dream?'

Maybe she really did get kidnapped by some bad people. Could it be that everything that had happened previously was just a future she had imagined while unconscious inside this rubbles?

Could it be that everything that happened after she escaped this place was just what she imagined in the blink of an eye?

She looked towards the small exit, the extremely familiar entrance that had led her to this safe place.

'I can't believe I'm here again.'

If she remembers correctly, there's two TDs outside fighting each other.

If she were to go out right now, she'd be the target of both monsters.

That's the last thing she would prefer happening.

She doesn't have any weapon.

She's a regular person, probably a lot weaker than the average individual too.

Since she was so short, she wouldn't gain any distance trying to run away without anything to distract them.

It was moments like these that made her lament her past.

But that's alright. Not all hopes was lost as of yet.

She still had a bit of time before the two Tacet Discord would come crashing down on her hideout.

She could remember vividly the vision of herself being crushed under them.

Though she doesn't remember it actually happenings, she did feel like it had a happened.

It was something along the lines of Deja Vu.

Pushing that aside, she's going to need to escape this place.

Katsuri tried to come up with a strategy. But since she's all alone in this, trying to find a way to escape was quite hard.

If only she could get something to distract the two Tacet Discords...

'Wait... Oh, this might actually worked!'

She remembered herself being thrown into a bunch of smaller Tacet Discord that had practically consumed her alive.

She doesn't remember feeling any pain so that was probably just a vision, but that's the most probable thing she could use.

Perhaps she'd be able to get the two bigger Tacet Discords entangled with the smaller ones?

If it worked, no doubt that she would actually survive this, that is to say that no TDs chases after her.

If so then all of these would be in vain.

"Fu..."

She exhaled. She needed to put to use all these things quickly, otherwise she might just lose her chance of living.

But at some point, her legs stopped moving as if paralyzed.

This caught her off guard. It was finally now that she realized how loudly and quickly her heart was beating.

She's extremely terrified right now.

Cold sweats dripped from her chin down her neck.

Katsuri pinched her own thighs, trying to get it to work. But even the pain wasn't registering.

Every seconds wasted is a second death creeps closer.

She can't afford this, she needed to move.

"..."

But her body was not giving her a helping hand.

In fact, it felt like she's watching through another lenses, not her own.

Just because she could see, doesn't mean she could control.

A very unrealistic expectation had been placed on her.

One she can't push away like always.

Katsuri clenched her teeth tightly, it felt like it would be crushed under pressure.

BOOM!

"!"

Finally, she could move.

Immediately after realizing this fact, she jumped out of the crevice.

As she did, the massive floating eye landed on the rubbles she was in.

Her eyes widened but it didn't stop her movement, Katsuri rushed towards the wall, trying to get around it so that she could hide.

But she felt a presence.

She dashed to the side almost on instinct as the floating orb tried to slice her in half from the top.

'Where'd this bitch come from!?'

Not waiting for answers, she ran on all fours for a few seconds before catching her stabilization back, running on both legs.

It's probably a couple hundred meters from her, the hordes of smaller Tacet Discords.

For this to work, she's gonna need to not only outrun the two massive TDs, she would also need to find a hiding spot after leading them there.

Two massive task, unfit for her small body.

Typical things, of course.
