Warhammer: Saiyan Adopted by the Wolf King

Chapter 50: Chapter 50: The Powerful Saibaman

Since he himself possessed "ki," there was no reason why a Saibaman wouldn't.

After all, these creatures came straight from the Dragon Ball universe.

"Axis, what are you thinking about? These Saibamen should have ki, right?" Russ asked.

"They should have it, but I'd like to run an experiment first. Dad, do you have any high-quality soil? Preferably something nutrient-rich," Axis replied.

There was no time like the present.

Axis wanted to plant a Saibaman right now. If he managed to cultivate a strong enough Saibaman, maybe it could even be used for dirty work, for instance, latching onto the Second Primarch and self-destructing, blasting the Primarch to pieces.

"High-quality soil? The Hrafnkel, has a special cultivation room where we grow some vegetables. The soil there is excellent black earth. Will that do?" Russ offered.

A Gloriana-class battleship was enormous; it needed to support itself on long missions, so it made sense to have facilities for growing fresh food onboard.

In the photosynthesis chamber, they'd even built a small artificial sun, creating a space where vegetables could thrive and the crew could enjoy fresh produce.

"That's perfect, Dad! Get someone to fetch some of that soil, and also bring over the best nutrient solution you have on the ship," Axis said.

To cultivate a top-tier Saibaman, not only was quality soil essential, but premium nutrient solution was a must as well.

The culture medium Axis had brought from Planet Vegeta was actually a mass-produced product, and truth be told, wasn't all that great.

Besides, after twenty years in storage, it might even have expired by now.

Saibamen were hardy, they could survive on just water.

Even nutrient solutions invented by humans in the space age would do.

Russ nodded and immediately summoned a few Space Wolves. He whispered some instructions to them, and they nodded before heading off.

Soon enough, several Space Marines arrived, hauling in a few enormous vats, each several meters tall, into Russ's quarters, along with several large barrels of the ship's finest nutrient solution.

"All right, let's get started! Man, am I curious!" Russ said, clearly intrigued.

After all, apart from Axis, this would be another living being that could potentially wield ki, he was definitely looking forward to it.

Axis nodded.

He took out a green seed, grabbed a stick, poked a hole in the black earth, and planted the seed inside.

After carefully covering it with soil, he poured a generous amount of nutrient solution over it.

As the liquid soaked into the earth, nothing happened. One minute passed. Two minutes. Three, four, still nothing happened.

Axis frowned. That didn't make sense.

According to the manual, Saibamen should burst out of the ground within a minute, sometimes in just a few dozen seconds.

He had provided plenty of nutrients; these things could grow even in the harshest environments, sometimes needing nothing more than water.

It just wouldn't be quite as potent, that was all.

And yet, nothing.

"What's wrong, Axis? How long do these things usually take to grow?" Russ asked.

This plant-based growth method reminded him of a creature he'd encountered not long ago, an incredibly savage monster known as the Ork.

Orks took months to grow. Did this thing also need months?

"It should have sprouted within a minute, but there's absolutely no movement," Axis replied.

"Maybe the seed has gone bad from being stored too long?" Russ suggested.

"Impossible! Saibaman seeds never go bad. They can stay viable for hundreds of years," Axis insisted.

He placed his hand on the soil, intending to sense it using his own ki.

He could feel the green seed below, absorbing the nutrient solution, but it wasn't reacting, it was as if something vital was missing, preventing it from breaking through the surface.

Suddenly, as soon as the green seed came into contact with Axis's ki, it began to greedily absorb it.

It was just like a man dying of thirst in the desert suddenly finding water, desperate and ravenous for Axis's ki.

This made everything clear to Axis.

In the Dragon Ball universe, ki was the foundation of everything, even the origin of the cosmos itself; all things possessed ki.

That was why Saibamen could be planted in the ground and would sprout with just a little water, because the world of Dragon Ball was overflowing with ki.

But here, in the Warhammer universe, there was no such thing as ki.

No matter how good the soil was, or how much water it received, without the stimulus of ki, the Saibaman seed simply couldn't grow.

But Axis's ki was the perfect nourishment.

Axis immediately increased the flow of his ki, and the green seed finally began to swell and grow.

A few dozen seconds later, a creature with green skin, three claws on its hands and feet, and a head shaped like a giant cabbage emerged in front of Russ and Axis.

"Waa! Waa! Chaa!" the Saibaman cried as it appeared, glancing around before quickly dropping to one knee in front of Axis.

This was the one who had planted it into existence, its master.

Russ eyed the Saibaman with curiosity.

Its head was tiny!

"This little green monster isn't even as tall as an adult human, barely one point four meters. Are you sure it's strong?"

"Of course! Let me check its power level," Axis said, grabbing a scouter.

He aimed it at the Saibaman, pressed the button, and a string of beeps sounded. The reading showed a combat power of 1300.

That was a full 100 points higher than the average Saibaman.

Thanks to Russ's quality soil, the ample nutrient solution, and Axis's own Super Saiyan ki, this one had grown particularly well.

"Don't worry, Dad! Its power level is a solid 1300, stronger than most of the Custodes."

"Can it use ki?" Russ asked.

"Form a ki in your hand," Axis ordered the Saibaman.

The little green creature nodded, extended a clawed hand, and a golden ball of ki formed in its palm.

"Now, show us a burst of your ki," Axis instructed.

The green creature nodded again, clenched its fists, dropped into a fighting stance, and with a loud roar, unleashed a white aura of energy all around itself.

"This really is the power of ki! Incredible, this little monster actually possesses ki!" Russ stared at the Saibaman in amazement.

Appearances truly were deceiving.

Who would have guessed that a creature that looked like a common grunt could actually take down a Custodian?
