Chapter 126
There are a total of 24 VTubers participating in the Fantasy League.
Among them, 14 are Japanese VTubers, 3 are English-speaking VTubers, and 7 are Korean VTubers.
“Last year, there were only 3 Korean participants. This year, the number has significantly increased.”
It could be a mere coincidence.
It might be because Blue Record, created in Korea, is popular in the subculture industry.
It could also be because Korean variety shows on Netplus hit number one.
In any case, it’s undeniable that Korea is gaining attention from various countries.
“This means more diverse viewers will watch your and Anna’s streams. I think this is a great opportunity to attract new subscribers.”
That certainly seems true.
There hasn’t been much interaction with Japanese viewers until now.
Maybe that’s why, as I got involved with Rui and the members of Leviathan, my and Sora’s subscriber counts increased significantly.
And there are also English-speaking VTubers in the Fantasy League.
If we interact with them, it might attract English-speaking viewers and further increase our subscriber count.
“You’re on the same team as Rui, aren’t you? Now imagine Rui holds an 8th-anniversary debut stream. Since you’re on the same team, you’d likely go and watch out of courtesy, right?”
“That might happen.”
“Then your viewers would also go to Rui’s stream.”
“Why would they do that?”
“Because they’d be curious if you might chat there. You might even send a super chat.”
VTuber fans apparently want to know everything about their favorite VTuber’s interactions with others.
That’s why, even with just a sliver of hope, they’d go out of their way to watch a VTuber’s special stream they wouldn’t normally watch.
“I want you to make as many appeals as possible during the Fantasy League. That way, new viewers will flock to your streams.”
“One of those appeals is an MV, right?”
“Exactly. Besides the MV, there will be new outfit streams and──a 3D stream too.”
“A 3D stream?”
I was slightly surprised.
For VTubers, ‘3D modeling production’ is akin to a significant milestone.
In the early days of VTubers, achieving 3D modeling required reaching a certain subscriber count.
In our company, you had to achieve 50,000 subscribers to get 3D modeling.
In another company, you had to reach 80,000 subscribers for 3D modeling.
In yet another company, they awarded 3D modeling only to those with 100,000 subscribers.
“I heard those kinds of things happened around 2018-2019.”
“In 2018, reaching 50,000 subscribers was quite a challenge. It took Rui about nine months back then to hit 50,000.”
“As Anna said, it used to be like that, but nowadays, they don’t impose subscriber conditions. Even if they did, you’d already surpass the requirements.”
“That’s true.”
I had already achieved 300,000 subscribers.
I also gained a decent number of subscribers during the recent escape room collaboration.
“I understand the idea. I know it’s effective to engage in various activities right now. But 3D modeling production isn’t something that can be done in just a day or two, is it?”
I’d heard it was a process that could take months.
Would it even be possible to complete it by the Fantasy League period?
Just as I thought that,
“Actually, your 3D modeling production started a while ago.”
“Since when?”
“About two months… no, three months ago. Around that time.”
“That’s quite a while.”
“Without Rinco senior around, I can say this: looking at your subscriber growth, it was obvious you’d surpass Rinco senior. Now, you’re the face of EYEAI.”
And it wouldn’t make sense for the company’s face to not have 3D modeling.
That’s why they commissioned the 3D modeling early on.
“Hmm. That’s good.”
Achieving 3D modeling, something many VTubers aspire to, was a joyous accomplishment for me too.
In the first place, 3D modeling is essential for holding live performances.
I’d taken a big step closer to holding a one-man live concert.
“A one-man live? Oh… are you talking about a one-man live for the 6th generation? That’s impossible, you know.”
Rion shook her head.
…Huh?
***
It was obvious upon hearing it.
-“You’re the most popular among the 6th generation right now.”
-“And Sora unnie will gain some popularity too since she’s participating in the league. Actually, Sora unnie and Anna’s 3D productions are also in progress. They might not be completed by the league period, though.”
-“But what about Chel and Inagika?”
-“For a 6th generation one-man live to happen, Chel and Inagika’s 3D productions also need to progress.”
-“That means Chel and Inagika need to become more popular than they are now…”
That was the challenge.
Of course, if Sora and I absorbed viewers from different countries through the Fantasy League, Chel and Inagika might benefit somewhat from the trickle-down effect.
But relying solely on the trickle-down effect is inefficient. My subscriber count was nearing 300,000, while Chel and Inagika both had fewer than 50,000 subscribers each.
‘Should I ask Kaiser for help?’
Like in the recent escape room collaboration, I could ask Kaiser to feature Chel and Inagika on his stream.
But that would be impossible.
It would be an outrageous request.
I was able to appear on Kaiser’s stream only because I was a Fantasy League participant.
From Kaiser’s perspective, Chel and Inagika were outsiders. Without a special reason, appearing on Kaiser’s stream would be impossible.
And that wasn’t just about Kaiser’s stream. It would be difficult for them to appear on any other Fantasy League participant’s stream too.
‘I can’t think of a viable way.’
I did have some ideas, but they were all vague.
Maybe it’s because my VTuber knowledge wasn’t yet perfect. Despite being an industry less than 10 years old, VTubers were far more diverse than I had imagined.
‘Should I discuss it with Sora later?’
Or perhaps it would be good to talk to senior VTubers from Leviathan.
They’ve been in the VTuber industry for a long time, so they likely have knowledge or perspectives I lack.
I decided to ponder this issue slowly.
‘For now, there are two things I need to focus on.’
The first is choosing a song to perform for the MV.
From what I hear, Sora and Anna are also planning to produce MVs. Since those two are originally singing-focused VTubers, their discussions were initiated before mine.
Anna confidently chose ‘Kagerou Days.’
It seems Sora had also already decided on her song, but I’d have to ask her directly to know.
This MV, unlike the last Aristogenesis, is not a group song.
In other words, each of us selects a song, and an MV is uploaded individually to each channel.
Deciding which song I’ll sing might be better after discussing it with Sora or Anna. Those two know much more about music than I do.
I still don’t know much about subculture songs. I’m not even sure how to learn about them.
And the second thing to focus on──is the current situation.
【Penalty Game】 Spring aids Taste Good Even in Winter. Don’t Have a Maid at Home? 【Shiroki Anna/Aurora】
“Our viewers must feel so sorry for themselves. These days, every household has at least one maid. Or do they not?”
– f**k…
– Why are you the only one enjoying this!!!
– Be honest, what did you do last night?
– Was the virginity of the A-grade virgin protected?
– Mom, buy me that too.
– Damn it, I’m so jealous…
This was the first stream since I started staying at Anna’s place.
Anna was absolutely tormenting her viewers.
“You all like Laura-chan, right? I know, I know. So, I’ll represent you and enjoy Laura-chan’s cooking. No complaints, right?”
– So many complaints.
– Did you really have to take everything for yourself!
– Sora, what are you doing? Your husband is about to be stolen by some weird woman!!!
– Just cut a piece and send it to my house by cash on delivery.
– Why only you? Why only you? Why only you? Why only you? Why only you? Why only you? Why only you? Why only you?
“So, what’s today’s dish?”
Anna crossed her arms arrogantly and crossed her legs. Judging by her demeanor, she seemed to be imitating me.
She was acting as if she were truly a noblewoman.
As an actual noblewoman, I found it ridiculous, but her excitement made her seem endearing. It felt more like playing with a child who had grown up physically but not mentally.
“Today’s dish is this, Lady Anna.”
I carefully placed the pre-prepared plate in front of Anna.
As a noblewoman, I had dealt with countless maids.
I remembered every detail of their gestures, and I could serve food perfectly.
“T-This is…”
Anna widened her eyes at the dish.
“Laura-chan, this dish…”
“Yes, this is the dish I’m most confident in.”
I nodded.
“Rice and grilled ham.”
I spoke.
Opening a can of ham, grilling it on a pan.
And rice cooked in an electric rice cooker.
That was it. End of explanation.
“…….”
Anna had an incredulous look as she cautiously moved her chopsticks.
She picked up the ham and bit its end.
Crunch!
“…Did you hear that sound? It’s crunchy.”
“I grilled it on low heat for a long time.”
“Why?”
“To enhance the texture, of course.”
“Didn’t you overcook it? Or rather… are you sure you controlled the heat properly? …It seems a bit burnt.”
“Regardless, the texture was preserved, so please focus on that, Lady Anna.”
【Ibn Hayyan has donated 1,000 won.】
【The texture was saved, but the dish wasn’t.】
“………….”
Anna put down her chopsticks with a subtle expression.
Instead, she picked up the spoon and took a bite of the rice.
“…I can feel the grains.”
And she said,
“Al dente texture is trendy these days, so I tried it out.”
“Didn’t you just add too little water?”
“That’s one way to put it. As expected of Lady Anna.”
I smiled faintly.
Maid life, day two.
Five days remaining.
