The sun rose lazily over the sea, casting golden streaks across the rolling waves. The ship drifted in tranquil silence, cutting through the calm morning like a blade through silk.
Vivi sat alone on the deck, her legs tucked under her, chin resting on her knees. Her usually bright eyes were shadowed with thought. She hadn't slept. Not really.
The night before had been long. Too long.
Even now, when she closed her eyes, she could hear it. The soft, breathy sounds, muffled moans through the wooden walls. Kaya's voice. Rael's name.
She pulled her cloak tighter around herself and looked toward the closed captain's cabin door. A strange tangle of emotions brewed inside her. Embarrassment. Curiosity. Frustration. Envy. Not quite jealousy—but something close.
She hadn't expected that kind of relationship to bloom so quickly between Kaya and Rael. And yet, when she thought about it, Kaya had been with him longer. Trusted him longer. Maybe even loved him longer.
But that didn't stop her chest from tightening.
"Didn't sleep?"
Vivi startled slightly. She looked up.
Miss Sunday stood a few feet away, arms crossed loosely, her dark coat unbuttoned at the front to reveal a cream-colored blouse that clung to her form. Her long black hair danced lightly in the breeze.
"No… not really," Vivi admitted.
Robin—no, Miss Sunday—smiled faintly and stepped beside her.
"I'm not surprised," she said with a teasing lilt, "the night was… full of sound."
Vivi's face flushed. "You heard too?"
Robin chuckled. "You think I sleep easily on a pirate ship? I've trained myself to hear everything."
Vivi buried her face in her arms. "Oh god…"
Robin sat beside her. "It's not a bad thing, you know. What they did. What they have. You just didn't expect it to happen this fast."
Vivi said nothing for a moment. Then, quietly: "He's different."
Robin looked toward the horizon. "He is."
"You've noticed too?"
"I notice everything," she said with a smile, then her eyes shifted slightly, as if weighing something.
Vivi narrowed her eyes. "You've been watching him."
Robin didn't deny it. "Of course. Men like him don't walk around unnoticed. Not when they can defeat Vice Admirals, crush Warlords, and yet still smile like nothing weighs on their shoulders."
Vivi turned to face her. "And what do you want from him?"
Robin met her gaze evenly. "I haven't decided yet."
For a while, the two women sat in silence, only the sound of the sea between them.
Then the captain's door creaked open.
Rael stepped out, shirtless, as usual, and stretching. His eyes looked half-awake, but the moment he saw Vivi and Robin, something flickered behind them.
"Morning," he said simply.
Vivi looked away quickly, cheeks still red. Robin, however, smirked.
"You look... well-rested," she said with amused sarcasm.
Rael tilted his head. "You don't?"
"I don't usually sleep soundly next to an earthquake."
He blinked. "What?"
Robin just laughed lightly and stood, walking toward him with an easy grace.
"I've been meaning to tell you," she said, stopping just a foot from him. "My real name."
Rael raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"Nico Robin," she said softly, her voice carrying more weight now. "You've earned that much."
Rael studied her for a moment. "You sure?"
She nodded. "Call it a gut feeling. You're not like other people. You don't chase me. You don't demand anything. And you've never once looked at me with fear."
He stepped closer. "Why would I fear you?"
Robin gave him a long look. "Because I'm dangerous. Because of what I know. Because of what I've done."
Rael shrugged. "Then we have that in common."
Robin smiled at that. Genuinely. "You're impossible to read sometimes."
"Good," Rael replied. "I like keeping mysteries alive."
She lingered in front of him for a moment longer, then casually reached out and adjusted his collar. "That's why I might stick around."
Rael didn't stop her.
Vivi watched the exchange from her seat, a little flustered, but she couldn't deny the subtle way Robin moved—confident, elegant, magnetic. She understood why men fell for her.
And now Rael had two women orbiting him.
And maybe… more to come.
Kaya appeared from below deck a moment later, wearing one of Rael's long shirts, hair still messy from the night. She gave Robin a small look—calculated but not hostile—and offered Vivi a quick smile.
"Breakfast?"
Rael nodded. "Sounds good."
Robin watched them all, then tilted her head.
"This crew is becoming… very entertaining."
Later that afternoon, Rael found Vivi alone at the helm.
He stepped beside her, the sea wind blowing his dark hair back.
"You've been quiet," he said.
Vivi didn't look at him. "Just thinking."
"You mad about last night?"
"No."
He waited.
Then she turned to face him, eyes searching his. "Am I… allowed to want something more from you?"
Rael didn't answer right away. Then he said quietly, "Do you?"
She stepped closer, heart pounding. "I don't know what this is, or what you are. But I know what I feel. I want to be close to you. Even if it means I'm not the only one."
Rael stared at her, eyes softening slightly.
"You're stronger than you look," he said. "And braver."
Vivi smiled faintly. "I've had to be."
He leaned down and kissed her, slower this time—no rush, no heat, just something gentle and real. Her hands gripped his coat tightly, holding him there.
When they pulled apart, she was breathless.
"Wow…"
Rael smirked. "You say that like it's a surprise."
She laughed softly. "It's not."
From the shadows, Robin watched.
And smiled.
