The New Elemental God

Chapter 4: Chapter 1.2 - Curvy Road

What he saw was the portrait of someone desperately trying to fix a screw up. He didn't know that girl, he had never seen her in all those years. The more she begged the more exhausted he got.

"This was just a bad joke."

Adam kept trying to decide if she was always like that or if she just became that heartless monster. Sitting through countless dinners, going to parties, sleeping with someone she despised took another level of perversity. The words she was saying were as empty as he was.

"Lemme go."

Completely drained, the boy just wanted to be set free. Instead of listening, she kept talking and holding the door with her left hand.

"Just lemme go." He reaped over her excuses. He wasn't paying attention, his mind was drowning in thoughts, memories and unfortunately, feelings. They shared a life for three years, well at least he did. He was going to propose for fucks sake.

"Adam, you gotta believe me. I love you!"

The entire time Adam looked in her direction he couldn't really see anything. But her words awakened something in him. Something he didn't want to feel. It wasn't decent for her to fuck his best friend and still have the courage to look in his eyes and say that. Not when he meant it all along but she didn't. It was cruel.

Cut scene time was over. It was time to play.

"GET THE FUCK AWAY!" A growl of a dark monster, that's how Adam heard himself.

Shaking from head to toe, Adam felt his skin burning up. Startled, Jenifer stumbled back, the sound of her heels piercing his ears. Never in his life he felt so angry at someone.

His vision was blurry red and his ears were muffled as if his head was under water. Not in charge of his senses, he felt the wood under his palm until he found the doorknob.

The node in his throat was so big he couldn't breathe properly. He needed air urgently. Without a second look, he left the study.

Adam just wanted to get away from them, from that cake and that stupid ring. To forget everything he heard would be a blessing. His friend's words kept popping out in his ears, ghosts from his newest nightmare, reality.

On the way out he passed a group holding a scotch bottle he bought for the party. Running by he grabbed the bottle that was sealed and headed to the garage.

Under the night sky he unlocked his car. The top was covered in a thin layer of rain as was the floor. Water splashes threw to his face as he opened the door of his 3 million dollar car.

On the leather seat he opened the bottle and filled up his mouth with the distasteful liquid. He choked while trying to swallow more than he could handle.

Spitting scotch in his panel Adam burst out laughing hysterically. Life was a fucking joke to him. Laughs echoing in the glamorous white walls, he closed the driver's door and turned on the engine.

Steeping deep in the accelerator, the powerful roar made his heart race. Adrenaline was taking over him. Racing was his passion and the only thing that would take his mind off that filth.

Roaring so loud people started to show up in the garage, he was watching the door waiting for her. It was irrational, but he wanted to know if she would come after him.

A drunk crowd was screaming and throwing boozes in the air to hype him up.

Having waited long enough for her to come down, there was no sign of her or any of his friends, making him feel even more pathetic.

Letting go of the breaks, the recoil pushed him back and the car launched out.

At the front gate he took another gulp of scotch. His throat burned with the alcohol and he vibrated in an uncharacteristic freaky way.

Out in the open road, Adam pushed his race car to the limit. Window opened, the wind was cutting, filling up his ears and stealing his breath. The Playboy was shouting celebrations after each overtaking. Adam was driving away to evade his thoughts.

Piloting like a maniac on the highway, Adam felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. Already feeling his head high and the world far away, he pulled out his phone. On the screen he saw his mother's photo. Taking his eyes back to the way ahead, he was about to fall off the road but managed to pull the car left in the last second. Laughing he passed another strangler, before answering the call.

"Hello, my favorite mother in the world!" Holding the shaky wheel with one hand at high speed, he shouted over the wind.

"Adam, where are you?! Why is my house filled with drunk teenagers?" Her tone was extremely upset which sounded funny to the intoxicated boy. "Are you drinking?! Adam Cross, stop that car immediately!"

"You know, you are the only mother- I mean, person I love!" Said he while passing another car that was going slower than him.

"Son, please stop the car, I'll go get you right just tell me where you are." Changing her tone from demanding to concerned, Adam was barely hearing her pleas, his brain was only receiving random words.

"Can we have cake for breakfast?" Something lit up in his mind, a desire to make a birthday party with chocolate cake, since he always hated strawberries. "There's a hole in my belly…" He looked down at his stomach and the car dived to the right. Thankfully there was no one in the other lane.

"Adam, plea-"
