Chapter 4: The Battle
Lucas springs off from his hiding spot and the sibling— "AN INFERNAL!!!?" They're shocked and draw their weapons. Lucas, on the other hand, doesn't want to cause any trouble on his human world journey so, he makes peace. "Wa— wait! I mean no harm!" He raised his arms as he gets closer. Suddenly, Luna's skeptic of Lucas' features. After all, he does look human.
"Is she really an infernal, lil sis? She looks more like us." Lura takes a closer look. "She does, big sis! Maybe we mistake her for an infernal, it is because of her attire?" And Luna nods. Lucas noticed that he's been referred a woman because of his longish hair. "Did you just refer me 'she'?" He crossed his arms. "For your information, I'm a man. How can you mistake me if my physique says so?"
Luna gets closer and inspect him thoroughly. Lucas, who's never been closed with a woman, felt embarrassed and awkward. Luna rubs her chin and looked at his face. "Hmm... Fair enough." She stepped away. "So, did I pass?" Lucas asked, playing along with them. "Yeah, you passed but with thorough inspection, I felt an infernal aura coming from you." — this surprised Lucas. "Oh no, they're not ordinary humans. Wait— no. Are humans capable of detecting our presence well? I... I've never read this in any book!" He panickingly wondered.
"Hmm... You're giving off a strange infernal aura yet your features tells a lot like us, humans." Lucas is sweating. "Lil sis and I detects an infernal presence before and— that's our first impression you've got from us." Luna said. "Mother told us that infernals took oddly features that makes them who they are but you—!" Luna points her finger Lucas' face. "You're different and it's our first time encountering an infernal that looks like human!" Luna closed her distance and Lucas felt pressured, and couldn't take eye contact.
"Perhaps, you're not an infernal. Just some shitty humans involving themselves in infernals' affairs." Luna nods as she crossed her arms. "You mean, occult big sis?" Lura suggested and Luna flinched. "That's a heck of a yes, lil sis!"
"Anyway, whichever origin you grow into, as long as you're human, you're good. You haven't done anything evil, so you pass." Luna smiled and Lucas just stare at her. "This Luna human surely has keen senses than her little sister there. She was right, I am an infernal. But because of my humanlike features, they're deceived. And I should be grateful of my mother." As Lucas wondered, the siblings get back into sorting their catch. "I don't know what these humans up to their sleeve. My best option is to hid my identity temporarily and avoid any conflict if I wanna explore more in this realm."
"Oh, umm... Since you're here, do you permit I tag along? Well, the way you act tells me you knew this place." Luna looked at him again and noticed something. "Hmm... You sounded lost, huh? Well, judging from your attire, you sure are not a native here in this region. So, which region did you live?" That question send shivers and panic to Lucas' spine. After all, he has no idea of how human realm works and the books he read aren't telling more about them in the first place.
"Big sis, I think I know where he lives!" Lura interrupted, making Lucas sigh in relief inside his thoughts. "Thank the Deity! You're my savior, Lura human!" Luna directed her focus to Lura. "I've done countless research in regards to regions and their countries. And if we look at his clothing, I assumed he came from an ancient island called 'Lunacy'." Lucas can't help but give a disappointed look. "Lunacy? More like Lunatic to me. How weird humans names things." He wondered.
"Lunacy island is under Lasugnia Region vicinity. Among all the counties within its territory, Lunacy is the sole one whose economy progresses that of a snail. One of the main factors were: Being faraway from the mainland, and Harsh weather condition in getting there." Luna understood. "Oh, is that so? Did you confirmed the manner of his clothing?" Lucas doesn't want to cause more doubt to Luna so he decided to step in. "She's right. I came from an ancient island, Lunacy. All information she told are all true."
Luna raised an eyebrow. "If so, how come you were able to traverse here in the mainland? If this island has poor weather condition that even sailors wouldn't dare to sail?" Lucas was driven to corner but decided to go on. "Though the mainland can't barely access our island, we, the Lunacean knows our in and outs." Lura nods. "Makes sense."
Luna crossed her arms. "By the way, why are you here? Lasugnia Region is Southeast from here. It's a pretty far journey for a young lad like you; Traveling Northwest Region, Spau Rihaetti." Lucas' thinking some valid excuse. "I was searching for my parents here in mainland. They've been banished since I was still 6. And now that I'm 10, my eagerness searching them throbs."
Lucas made a fake sadness but suddenly, Luna draws closer and touched both his cheeks. "Oh, what a lovely motivation. I prayed you'll find your parents soon." Luna sympathized. "It must be hard to live without their care." Luna's so close and Lucas' can't help but blush.
"Mother told us that a parent's one of the greatest responsibilities is nursing their child till they grow up and bring able to stand on their own." Luna pitied him. "After hearing your story, it must be hard to live without your parent's love." Luna's words hit deep both Lura and Lucas. "Anyway—" Luna lend her hand to Lucas. "Wanna be friends?"
''Friend? But we've just met...?" Lucas' surprised but Luna just smiled, making him blush. "Isn't it bad? We can all be friends! Stranger or not." Luna's giving off a positive energy which Lucas felt. "What's going on? This Luna human is giving off a different vibe than that earlier. Is she— two faced? No, I guess not." He wondered. "Well, considering your request earlier, sure! You can tag along, isn't that right lil sis?" Lura nods.
"By the way, we've been talking without knowing each other's name. So, what's yours?" — this question surprised him. "That was unexpected. I have no idea if these humans knows more about our clan. Best not to talk much." He wondered and clears his throat. "I'm Lucas Licasffia, nice to meet you."
"I'm Luna, the big sis and this is Lura, my lil sis. I'm sure you know our names but— just wanna reintroduce ourselves. Just to be sure." Luna smiled. "So, how about it. I know you have your personal goals but how about we drop at our village first? Who knows your parents just happened to live in our village, worth to try right?" Lucas nods. "Well, I'm up for many places to venture. So, let's go then." Luna smiled. "That's decided then! Let's go—"
"Wait big sis. We must look first for spices, herbs, and mushrooms within the vicinity. I know mother didn't tell us anything about it but— just to be sure." Luna rubs her chin. "Oh yeah. I remembered we need to restock some medicinal ointments for the rescue team. So—" Luna faces Lucas. "Lucas, please wait a lil longer. We need to find something first and we'll take our leave afterwards."
"That's okay. Take your time." The Lyfrienia Siblings that's scavenging the stuffs that Lura mentioned whole Lucas lay down, waiting for them. "At last, I get to know more about the mortal realm. I'll be sure to write it down." He looks at them. "And it was all thanks to those two." Lucas observes them but the moment he gazed at Luna, his expression softens.
Back at the village.....
Lunaria keep slaying the infernals. "These creatures, there's no mistaken it. They belonged from the Anherion Clan." She kept slaying while her thoughts were doubting. "Anherion Clan operates with a King. Without a leader, they'll remain in their forsaken realm. Seeing them now for almost a decade, how? I've killed Lian Mark with my very own hands. Who in Tophet is leading them?!"
"You must be wondering; 'How in Spau Rihaetti these Anherion Scums here without a King? I've slain their king long ago?' " Lunaria looked up and Lian Sui stands there, looking down at her. That time, Lunaria saw great resemblance to her former enemy, Lian Mark. "No way, I killed you!"
"Of course you killed him." He descends. "And thanks to you, I was nominated as a new ruler at a very young age without any sheer knowledge of leading the realm, Lunaria Lyfrienia." Lunaria's eyes widened. "Don't tell me that scum had an— offspring?" Sui opened his arms and shrug. "You think your species are the only ones who can multiply because your kind were the only ones that won the Deity's favor?"
Lunaria smiles bitterly. "So, you're here to enact vengeance against me? Such heroic deed coming from filthy infernals." She mocked him but he's not taking the bait. "Oh no, not really. My army were the ones who are out for your blood for killing their ideal leader." Lunaria's confused. "Then, what are you—?" Lunaria's confused but Sui summons his sword and points at her. "I'm gonna kill you for putting me those damn burdens against my will, robing me of my youth you buffoon!"
Lunaria laughs. "How selfish! Truly, your kind are a total scumbags!" She draws her weapon against him. "Your father failed miserably on our last battle, surely, with his son, you'll face a pitiful defeat!" Lunaria made her move and slash her sword towards Sui but the king stood up and blocked her attack without budging. Lunaria's surprised.
"It doesn't mean we're father and son, the son is doomed the same demise as their father, you mongrel!!!" Lunaria's pushed back and decides to distance herself. Sui, for the first time, letting out a serious vibe and so his aura emits a sinistrous presence. Lunaria felt that Sui's emits a different vibe compared to Lian Mark. Lunaria spilled a single drop of sweat on her face and smiled. "Remember this, O, selfish son of Lian Mark. No matter how much you are, hundreds, thousands, millions, or billions," She gripped her weapon and swings her sword. "I WILL WIPE YOUR EXISTENCE FROM THIS REALM!!!"
"What an ambitious mortal." Sui rolled his eyes. "You may be strong, but your limits aren't that of a Deity." He put his guard up. "Your kind's arrogance is what that doomed your end!" Their swords clashed and Lunaria noticed that Sui uses the same weapon as his former foe, Lian Mark. "Seems you recognized this weapon, Lunaria." Lunaria flinched. "Hmph! Who wouldn't? This is the same sword that you've crossed blades with my father." Sui exerts greater force to overwhelm her.
Lunaria shows signs of struggle but has the courage to exchange words with Sui. "That good ol' rusty sword made its usefulness overdue." She let out a smug. "Can't believe it was able to serve its master's son." Lunaria ungripped her left hand and pointed her palm to Lian Sui. "You kind really likes using ancient stuffs." Her palm glows blindingly and—
"Radiance!" She casted a spell that blasted Sui and is sent flying. The King's reflexes allows him to change his position in mid-air and impale his sword to halt the impact he receives. "Same with your father, I'll be your end and you will be the last King to ever lead your worm army!" Lunaria, once again, charged and Sui is ready to exchange blows with her.
Their battle is fierce, whoever dared to stepped in will be dragged like a tornado. Their powers clashed, destroying the geography they've battled. They fight like their lives at stake! Their choices and actions decides the tides of their battle. Even a slightest mistake could lead their downfall, their death.
At the forest....
Lucas patiently watches over the Lyfrienia Siblings and there, he noticed that their behaviors aren't far from the infernals which made him smile. Seeing them reminds his younger days with Roquinito. Lucas was taken great cares under his supervision and his bond with him reminds him upon watching Lura and Luna. "I've learned lots today." He wondered. "Once I get home, I'll be sure to write it all with every detailed in them."
As he observes, Luna and Lura finished what they're intended to do. "We've hauled lots, lil sis! Mother will surely be grinning when she sees this!" Luna jumped in excitement. "It is, big sis! Mother will surely cook our fav dishes with these!" Lucas noticed a slight change to their behavior, so he stood up and draws near to them. "It seems you two finished your task and— wow! You hauled lots! Are you sure you guys could carry this along the way? They look heavy."
Luna smiled. "Don't worry, Lucas! We may look feeble but we're innately strong!" She shows off her slightly toned biceps. "Don't mind my sister, she likes showing off her lil biceps whoever someone looks down on her capabilities." Lura clarified and he flinched. "Wait, I mean no such thing!"
The siblings looked at him with owl-like eyes and he chuckled. "Anyway, it was fun to be with you, even a brief moment. But I guess I'll be on my way now." Both siblings gasped. "Wait, as in now?" Luna seems shocked. "We haven't taken you to our village! Please come with us! Who knows your parents resides in our village!" Lucas shakes his head. "It's fine Luna, I'm highly grateful for your warm greetings, even we're just strangers at first meet."
"NAAH, he just want to excuse himself from helping us carry our hauls big sis." Lura teases as she shrugs and Lucas takes the bait then flinched. "I mean no such thing?!" Lucas defended. "I really have something I forgot to do and I am required to head back to where I departed." He pouts and Lura laughed. "Chill, Lucas. I'm only joking! Don't take it personally!" Lura giggles.
"Joke? That's not funny." He glared. "Whatever your motives of leaving, I think it's for the best." Lura crossed her arms. "But if you somehow changed your mind and consider our offer, you can visit our village and seek us if you are looking for a tour guide. Just tell the people our names and they'll jump in shock and start looking for us."
"I'll take that in mind!" Lucas smiled. "Anyway, I'll be taking my lea—" suddenly, when Lucas turned away, Luna grabbed his hands. That, made the prince shiver in panic.
