Chapter 3: The Rift
*clears throat* "Long ago, the world is swarmed by infernals. The damage is too great that Humanity has lose all hope. But—! in a remote village, there rise a young, female warrior that is destined to be the bearer of hope, fated by the title of Humanity's First Champion. The infernals were hunted by this champion and slowly brought peace to the realm. One day, the ruler of the infernals, the Void King, was enraged after knowing his minions were slaughtered one after another. Therefore, he came to the Mortal to take the matters by his own hands."
"Wait— what??! Void King?!"
"Yes. He used his infernal army to raid the village that the Champion lives and so, the Champion replied with a sword and confronted that massive number of his minions. The number of infernals is overwhelming yet — the Champion of Humanity is not just a title but earned with merit. She showed them what she's capable off, making the Void King in shock."
"Seeing his army slowly decreased in numbers, he challenges the Champion and went on a deadly death match. The battle is not played fairly yet the battle is as fierce like how hellfire burns. Their swords clashed, the ground tasted their sweat & blood. It was a fierce and unfair battle but at the end, Good always prevails in darkness. The champion successfully took the Void King to dust and peace is restored. After several years later, the champion had two daughters and never ceased training them, preparing the siblings of a threat that will one day break the peace that the champion has established. The end."
"Is that all? After the fearsome champion attained peace, she had two offsprings? Just like you, mother? Hmm... What a coincidence!? You are hailed a heroine by humanity and had two daughters. Is it possible that the story you share is your very own life story, mother?" Lunaria sighs. "Seriously, don't you get it? I am that Champion from the story."
Luna's eyes widened. "What??! Ho— how come!?" Lunaria made a facepalm. "I'd expect that you possess the same level of intellectual talent that of your sister but— I guess I'm quite ambitious. Of course you're blessed with raw strength talent like I did than strategic ones from your father." Luna scratches her scalp. "I'm sorry I'm dumb, okay? I'm not built that way."
Lunaria draws near to her child. "Come on now, don't be like that! Even if I told it to others, only few understands. Like— how can a woman slain thousands of demons and beat the Void King at the same time? Of course, they'll find it surprising!"
"Anyway, I don't bother hearing their impression. I know what I'm capable of and the mortal realm is safe from the Void King's tyranny." Just then, Luna stood up, looking all enthusiastic. "I wanna be like you, mother! A strong warrior that it'll took thousands to beat you!" Lunaria gasped and let out a smile. "Well then, train harder! Harder than me, Luna." Luna raised her fist. "You bet I will!!!!"
Luna start marching but Lunaria grabbed her hair. "Woah, woah, woah... You might've forgot something, Luna. Didn't I told you to rest, hmm???" Luna awkwardly laugh. "Anyway, it's almost noon. Take this chance to rest till tomorrow." Luna made a pouty look. "Fine, I'll rest." Lunaria looked at her and smiled. "She's just like me when I was her age."
At noon...
Lunaria headed at the specified training ground for her other daughter and the moment she arrived, "Mother, what took you so long?!" Lunaria looked where the voice is and, "Oh, Lura, you're here already." It seems that the voice came from a girl named Lura.
Lura Lyfrienia, she has the same hair color as her mother but she has a bangs and a single fringe. She's clever, serious and kind-hearted. Unlike Luna, she's not blessed with combat talent but a strategist.
"I apologize, my dear daughter. I was keeping an eye to your elder sister to make sure she won't overdo herself from training." Lura sighs. "Seriously, sis Luna always pushing herself. What if her body collapse due to fatigue? She'll definitely take longer breaks, making her regret her actions."
"Hey, hey. Calm down Lura. I'm sure your sis knows her limitations. For now, since I arrived late, let's do a warm up first." Lura does the warm up and while Lunaria's observing her, she can't help but ask. "Say Lura, what can you say about your sister?"
"Well, she's stubborn and always jumps to battle, not bothering to adhere to strategies. But— even though her recklessness is a liability, her extraordinary capabilities as a warrior is definitely an asset." She said. "Whoever teamed with her, faces same issue; not following commands. But even so, her team finishes the mission quickly and unharmed making her teammates silenced after."
"Knowing that, it makes me think sis Luna is a natural born fighter— like you mother!" Lunaria looked at her and pat her head. "You speak like you aren't one yourself, Lura. You, too, inherit your father's intellectual talent, making you special out of ordinary." Lura blushes. "Anyway, enough with warm ups and let's initiate your training session." And so, Lunaria and her daughter starts their training.
Week passed....
The Lyfrienia sisters are tasked to head towards the forest to hunt. Lura's preparing all the tools needed for the hunt while Luna's stretching her body up. "Lura, are the preparations ready?" Lura nods. "Ready as you are, sis?" In that very day, is where their fates changed.
At the Void...
Sui and Roquinito were standing a top of the hill. As Sui waves his hand, the citizens starts shouting. "Attack! Attack! Attack!!" They yell. "Human flesh! Human blood! Human bone!"
Sui, looking at them reminds him of his past where his father convinced them to come. Seeing this parallelism, he can't help but feel dissatisfied. Roquinito noticed his slight disturbance, consulting him afterwards. "Your majesty, you look unwell. Should we postpone the gathering?"
"No." He insist. "It must go on. After all, this is the awaited moment for them. The momentum that my father stirred is there. And I hoped not to stop it." The crowd became louder. "Your majesty, aren't you going to let the young Prince beside you? It would be a great opportunity for the citizens to increase his recognition and applause."
"No." Sui answered. "Lucas must do what he must do. I won't let him involved with my father's unfinished business." Roqunito closed his eyes. "I see. May I safely conclude it's the main reason you sent him on a mission? To drive him away from your father's unfinished business?"
"You are free to assume." Sui shrugs. "Anyway Roquinito, it seems the crowd gotten hype. Mind calming them? You have the honors." Roquinito bows. "As you wish, your majesty." He then faces the crowd and releases his thunderous powers that creates thunderous noice that calms the crowd. Sui then stepped up and speaks. "Greetings, citizens of the Void! It is I, Lian Sui, the son of your former King, Lian Mark. I am hereby fulfill the promise that my father has started!" The crowd became wild. "At last! For so many years, our former prince who succeeded our deceased king, now declared war!" Slug infernal expressed. "Pierce their flesh, pierce their flesh with my sand!" Sand demon speaks.
"We've been waiting for so long, letting the Champion of Humanity celebrate her overdue victory. Now, I, King Lian Sui Anherion, declare the final assault towards Human race that my Father, King Lian Mark, has initiated!"
"We will destroy Lunaria Lyfrienia, together with mankind! Enact our revenge for our late King, Lian Mark Anherion, once and for all!" As Sui made his speech, the crowd start praising him. "I plunge the mortal realm and let them taste the will of the slain King, and I, Liam Sui, will take Lunaria's head and avenge our former King!" The crowd's hyped and their cheering gone louder. "LONG LIVE THE KING!!" Infernal(1) yelled and so the rest follows.
As the crowd screams, Sui talks to Roquinito. "Roquinito, we will now initiate an assault to the mortal realm, fulfilling the wishes of our citizens. I will confront Lunaria and if everything went south, you know what to do." Roquinito shows an expression of hesitation but he respects his King's decision. After imparting the message, Sui leap and summons Nebulous. He firmly grip the sword and slashed the spacious area.
"RIFT REAPER!" — Nebulous creates a gigantic rift and infernals swarmed and dived in. Just then, it seems Lucas finished his assigned mission earlier than due. That, he was able to witness how Nebulous creates a portal that leads to the Mortal Realm. "Everyone's diving to that rift thing. I wonder what's—Wait , is that father?" Lucas saw Sui entering the rift.
"If father entered that thing, it could only mean it's a portal created by Nebulous?" He gulped. "If that is indeed a portal, it can surely leads to the mortal realm." Curiosity takes hold of Lucas. "I wonder what would the realm of humans looked like? I... wanna know." Mesmerized, Lucas decided to go near and Roquinito glimpsed on the young Prince. "Prince Lucas!?" He called out but Lucas got dragged in by the rampage. "Oh my Tophet." He sigh and followed the prince down to the mortal realm.
Inside the Rift, everyone looks like spaghetti-fied. "I'm sucked in!" And when Lucas opened his eyes, he's now in the mortal realm. Lucas looked around and the scenery made him awe. "Is this — the world where humans lived?" Fascinated, Lucas starts to wander off away from his fellow infernals.
Few kilometers, Sui gazed. "Ahead is the village where my our Ruler's murderer lives." He points at the village. "Plunder and cripple them! Make them feel and pay for our rage!" The infernals yelled and swarmed the village. Sui's about to head out but— "Your majesty, may I interrupt you for a moment?" Roquinito approached him. "Roquinito, you're here? How's my son? Did he gave you trouble?" He jokes.
"No, your majesty. There seems to be miscalculation." Sui got serious. "Miscalculation? Is it about the assault?" Roquinito shakes his head. "No, about young Prince Lucas. It seems he came back earlier than anticipated and worse, he seemed to have stepped foot here in this realm!" That frightenen Sui but he takes a deep breath. "Well, that's unfortunate. I wouldn't imagined— no, I've underestimated my son's drastic potential."
"What should we do, your majesty? If young Prince were to engage the Champion in battle, I dunno—" Sui pats Roquinito. "Chill. Knowing my son, he's not that impulsive in battle. Especially after knowing his reason to fight crumbled after I told him the truth. Lucas, I'm sure his curiousity takes hold and that— will somehow gave me relief." Roquinito gazed at Sui's face and later shrugs.
"Now, the infernals raided Lunaria's village. Knowing their strength, they'll just a warm up for her. Therefore, I'll confront her directly and—" Sui's serious. "But your majesty, wouldn't advisable to use your citizen to tire her out and guarantee your victory? That way, we could attain victory?"
"No." Sui answered straightforward. "My son did his best to minimize the loss in every mission. Seeing them caused my son's unyielding efforts, and I cannot let it waste." He gripped his sword tightly. "Nebulous didn't lend its strength to cause harm on its citizen. Therefore, I'll confront Lunaria by myself to minimize the loss."
"What a deadly attempt." Roquinito blurted. "It's like— you're digging your own grave, your majesty." He couldn't helped but feel concerned. "Your citizens are willing to gave their lives if it means guaranteeing your victory. That's what they did during your late father's reign. But— heh... Whatever you say, it shall be done." Sui smiled. "I'm an idiot and immature King, yaknow. Don't be surprised about it." Sui jokes and they both headed to the village and enact their thing.
At the village, Lunaria's inside her house, doing chores but suddenly, she felt something— ominous. "Wha... what's going on? This sensation, it feels like—." She can't clearly tell what's going on but then— *bell ringing* "WE ARE UNDER ATTACK! I REPEAT, WE'RE UNDERATTACK!!!" Lunaria heard the bell rung. "This sensation, it's not ordinary but— *grin* but nostalgic." Lunaria headed to her wardrobe and her battle dress is shown. "Infernals." As she wear her dress, "It's been 1 and 1/2 decade since they attacked. I'm quite excited."
Later...
The infernals arrived and start wrecking havoc. The mob starts shouting as infernals destroys everything in its path. In that moment, when a young girl tripped on her path. An infernal slowly approached her as he drools. The girl cried but then— a sound of slash is heard. When the girl looks up, she saw Lunaria in her magnificent Battle Dress with a color combination of Gold, Orange, and Red. Lunaria looked at the girl and pat her. "Head to the evacuation, immediately. I'll take care of these buffoons myself."
The girl tremble in fear, but with the appearance of Lunaria, her courage strengthens. She nods and tries her best to get away. Lunaria locked her eyes towards the infernals and there — it excites her. She swung her sword swiftly, removing the blood on her blade. "Time to go slaying!" Lunaria charges at the infernals at bay and went on berserk.
At the forest.....
Somewhere far away from the village, Lucas wondering all over it. He takes it all, every touch, see, hear, feel, and taste to satisfy his curiosity. "Everything looks strangely odd yet magnificent! So this is what the Mortal Realm looks like! It's vibrant, full of life, and the ambience is just— relaxing, contrasting our Realm. Our... home." As Lucas enjoys nature, he detects something squirming within the vicinity. "The sound seems different from things I stumbled before and they're closely related to mine. Could it be— humans?"
He gazed to where the noise came from and there, he saw the Lyfrienia Siblings. He hides behind the tree and observed them. "Wait, they have the same features as me, could it be— they're humans?" Ahead, Luna jumped excitedly. "We've caught lots today, isn't it Lil' sis Lura?" Lura nods. "We totally nailed it, elder sister Luna!"
"You bet!" Luna winks. "Once we get back to the village, I'm sure mother will be overwhelmed by joy! After all, we've caught lots! Oh? What would be our reward? *gasped* Perhaps cooking our fav foods?!!!" Lura starts drooling. "Awhh .. I love mother's cooking! They're delicious!"
"Surely, they caught a lot. But hey? Did I heard it right? They're calling each other sisters. Are they— related?" He wondered. "Of course they are! They look identical, a little." The young Prince observes them from a far but seeing how joyful they are, he can't help but wonder. "Hmm... I could hear and see them from this distance but— I wanna get a closer look. Especially that woman named Luna."
Lucas closed his distance but suddenly, with a sound of a tripped branch alerted the siblings. Lucas flinched and quickly hide to the nearby tree. "Sis, did you hear that? I feel someone's following us." Luna closed his eyes and start feeling the surroundings. "I can feel its presence.... Somewhere around here."
"Damn it! They're alerted." Lucas rants in his thoughts. Suddenly, Luna opened her eyes and throw the knife at the tree that Lucas hid. To his surprise, the Knife flew pass him and struck to a tree in front of him. "Whoever you are, there's no point hiding. I know where you hid, and it's better to show yourself than ignore my warning." Lucas is left without a choice and revealed himself to the Lyfrienia Siblings.
"Oh? Finally, the pervert has made her appearance." Lura crossed her hands, letting out a smug look. Hearing this, it triggered him. "Pe— pervert??! I'm no pervert!"
