The Lone Dragon of China.

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Liu Xin, the Hosted Vessel

Qin Fei remained silent, harboring no goodwill toward the doctor in the white lab coat.

"Dad, this is Director Sang Guoxing, the deputy director of the Provincial People's Hospital. His medical skills are nationally recognized, capable of handling many difficult cases," Zhang Xue introduced, holding onto the white-coated doctor.

Sang Guoxing smiled and shook hands with Captain Zhang before explaining, "Your wife's illness is merely an autonomic nerve disorder of the heart, often misdiagnosed as coronary heart disease by medical students. In truth, the two are unrelated. Autonomic nerve disorder is a mental illness."

With things as they were, Captain Zhang had no choice but to adopt a "wait-and-see" approach.

"Mr. Zhang, please help your wife put her clothes back on. Treating her doesn't require undressing," Sang Guoxing said, throwing a deliberate glance at Qin Fei.

Zhang Xue, on the other hand, wore an expression as if she wanted to devour Qin Fei.

Great, now he was being mistaken for some perverted fraud. Qin Fei sighed and silently sat to the side. Were it not for Song Wencheng and Captain Zhang, he would've stormed out.

"Does your wife experience fatigue, excessive sweating, insomnia, and vivid dreams? Does it sometimes escalate to feelings of near-death?" Sang Guoxing asked.

Captain Zhang nodded repeatedly. "Yes, exactly! But all her heart tests came back normal."

"As I said, this is a mental condition. Her emotions need to be carefully tended to, avoiding stress and tension. In the future, she can take supplements for calming the mind and nourishing the brain," Sang advised.

At this point, Liu Xin had been dressed and was helped out of the bathroom.

Sang Guoxing then retrieved a vial from his bag, drawing the contents into a syringe.

"What's that?" Captain Zhang asked nervously.

"Mr. Zhang, there's no need to worry. It's just a calming and brain-nourishing medication," Sang said confidently, smiling.

He inserted the syringe into Liu Xin's artery and administered the drug.

"Quack," Qin Fei muttered, shaking his head with a cold smile.

Zhang Xue glared fiercely at him. "Just you wait! I'll have you arrested for fraud!"

Qin Fei shrugged, unwilling to argue.

Song Wencheng chuckled wryly beside him. "Zhang Xue studied philosophy in the provincial capital and is a staunch atheist. Don't take her words to heart."

"Don't worry, I won't," Qin Fei replied, smiling.

Not long after, Liu Xin began to snore gently, as though in a deep and peaceful sleep.

Seeing this, Sang Guoxing felt even more convinced of his diagnosis.

"Your wife doesn't have any major illness. Her mental state has now stabilized. In the future, just ensure she takes the calming supplements regularly," Sang declared confidently.

Regardless of the explanation, the improvement in Liu Xin's condition planted a seed of doubt in Captain Zhang's mind. Could it be that Liu Xin's condition was indeed a minor issue?

"Well? Are you convinced?" Sang asked Qin Fei with a smug grin.

Qin Fei shook his head. "Her symptoms haven't subsided."

"Ridiculous." Sang snorted. "The results are right before your eyes, yet you're still stubbornly denying it?"

"Then explain why she's sweating between her brows," Qin Fei countered, pointing to Liu Xin's forehead with his chin.

Beads of sweat were indeed forming across her brow.

Sang frowned and hurriedly examined her.

"This is merely a manifestation of nervous anxiety," Sang said dismissively, though his confidence wavered.

Qin Fei chuckled coldly. "The injection you gave her clearly contained Alprazolam, a tranquilizer. So why would she display symptoms of anxiety?"

"Doesn't this suggest that your medication is ineffective? Or, worse yet, that it's entirely inappropriate?" Qin Fei pressed, his words like a hammer to Sang's composure.

"It's just a matter of dosage!" Sang raised his voice defensively.

Qin Fei smirked. "Sang, wipe the sweat off your forehead. Don't look so nervous."

Flustered, Sang pulled out a handkerchief to dab at his sweaty brow. He then retrieved another vial, loading it into a syringe with an obviously increased dose.

"Let me guess. The previous dose was 5 mg, and now you've doubled it to 15 mg," Qin Fei remarked casually.

"As a doctor, you should know the maximum safe daily dose for humans is 10 mg. By deliberately exceeding this for the sake of immediate results, do you even deserve the title of 'doctor'?"

Sang's face turned pale at the rebuke, his confidence crumbling.

"You're talking nonsense!" Zhang Xue interjected, seemingly panicked. "Dr. Sang would never mishandle the dosage!"

"Ask him yourself," Qin Fei replied indifferently, unwilling to explain further to someone who already saw him as a fraud.

Zhang Xue glanced at Sang, whose nervous perspiration betrayed his unease.

Just then, Liu Xin let out a beast-like growl, her body writhing on the sofa as if in excruciating pain.

"What's going on?" Captain Zhang exclaimed, panicked and at a loss.

Qin Fei wasted no time. "Captain Zhang, please take your wife to the bath."

"Alright, alright!"

In the bathroom, Qin Fei placed his palm over Liu Xin's Shenting acupoint, forcing her into a state of calm. He then pricked his finger, letting his blood drip into the water.

"Dr. Sang, may I borrow your needle?" Qin Fei asked.

Though reluctant, Sang handed it over.

With the needle, Qin Fei gently pierced Liu Xin's Shenting acupoint. A faint green mist emanated from the puncture, flowing into her body.

Moments later, a gush of blood spurted out!

"How could such a small wound produce so much blood?" Captain Zhang stammered, alarmed.

Qin Fei ignored him, letting the blood mix into the water. Instantly, the bathwater turned pitch black.

"Captain Zhang, please confirm—the water has turned black, correct?" Qin Fei asked, his vision obscured by a blindfold.

"Yes! It's black!" Captain Zhang exclaimed, horrified.

"Good. You can help your wife get dressed now," Qin Fei instructed.

After the ordeal, Qin Fei removed his blindfold and opened the curtain.

Sang Guoxing and Zhang Xue were waiting outside anxiously. Upon seeing the inky water in the tub, their faces turned pale.

"What's going on?" Zhang Xue grabbed Qin Fei's arm, demanding answers.

Her attitude annoyed him, so Qin Fei ignored her and addressed Captain Zhang. "Just wait a moment."

As he spoke, the bathwater began to bubble and boil. Large bubbles surfaced one after another.

"So, it's like this," Qin Fei muttered coldly.

It was evident that Liu Xin had been used as a vessel—a victim of witchcraft, her body intended to serve as a host.

A wisp of black energy, invisible to the ordinary eye, emerged from the bubbling bathwater. It swirled violently before crashing into the mirror on the wall.

"There it is. No wonder I couldn't locate it earlier," Qin Fei muttered. Reaching out, he captured the black energy as it struggled, drawing it into his body.

"What now?" Captain Zhang asked nervously.

Qin Fei pointed at the mirror. "Was this installed recently?"

Captain Zhang thought for a moment. "About a month ago. Why?"

"Take it down," Qin Fei instructed.

Without hesitation, Captain Zhang grabbed a stool and smashed the mirror.

As the glass shattered, a yellow talisman fell out.

The talisman, soaked in dried blood, had turned a dark red. The stench of decay immediately filled the room, causing everyone to cover their noses.

Even Sang Guoxing retched uncontrollably.
