Chapter 22: Chapter 23:The Ritual
Seer Namarie led Alpha Thane and Luna Lila to a small, dimly lit room deep within the pack's hospital. The air was thick with the scent of incense and something else...something faintly metallic.
In the center of the room, a small altar had been set up, surrounded by candles and strange symbols etched into the walls. Seer Namarie gestured for Alpha Thane and Luna Lila to approach the altar.
"We must begin the ritual," she said, her voice low and hypnotic. "Aurora's soul must be freed from her body, and then we can use it to bring back Aiden's soul."
Alpha Thane's eyes were fixed on the altar, his face set in a determined expression. Luna Lila's eyes were filled with tears, but she nodded bravely.
Seer Namarie raised her hands, and the candles on the altar flared to life. The air in the room began to charged with an otherworldly energy.
"It begins," Seer Namarie whispered.
Seer Namarie began to chant, her voice weaving a hypnotic spell. The candles on the altar flared higher, casting flickering shadows on the walls. Alpha Thane and Luna felt a strange energy building in the room, like a storm was gathering.
Seer Namarie's eyes locked onto Aurora's lifeless body, which lay on a nearby table. "Aurora, daughter of the moon," she whispered, her voice carrying on the wind. "Your soul is needed to save your brother. Will you give it freely?"
The room fell silent, as if the very spirits themselves were waiting for Aurora's response. And then, in a voice that was barely audible, Aurora whispered, "Yes."
Seer Namarie's eyes flashed with a fierce light. "Then let it be done," she declared, raising her hands to the heavens.
The candles on the altar exploded into a blaze of light, and the room was filled with an intense, pulsating energy. Alpha Thane and Luna felt themselves being drawn into the ritual, as if they were being pulled into a vortex.
Suddenly, Aurora's body began to glow with a soft, ethereal light. The light grew brighter and brighter, until it was like a small sun in the room.
And then, in an instant, the light vanished. Aurora's body lay still and lifeless on the table.
But Aiden's body, which had been lying on a nearby table, began to stir. His eyes fluttered open, and he took a deep, gasping breath. Alpha Thane and Luna Lila rushed to his side, tears of joy streaming down their faces.
"Aiden, my son!" Alpha Thane exclaimed, embracing him tightly. "You're back. You're alive."
Aiden's gaze was unfocused, but he smiled weakly at his parents. "Mom...Dad," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Luna Lila held him close, tears streaming down her face. "We're here, baby," she whispered. "We're here."
As Aiden slowly regained consciousness Luna Lila glanced over at Seer Namarie, who was watching them with a somber expression.
"Thank you," she whisper, "Thank you for bringing my son back."
Seer Namarie nodded, her eyes filled with compassion. "I'm sorry it had to come at such a great cost," she said.
Luna's eyes welled up with tears again, but she nodded bravely. "I know," she said. "I know."
Ryder sat in his room, staring blankly at the wall as he struggled to come to terms with the loss of his younger sister. Feeling a deep sense of grief and sadness, but he also felt a crushing sense of guilt and responsibility.
He couldn't shake off the feeling that he had failed to protect his siblings, that he's incompetent and weak. He kept replaying every thing that happened in his mind, wondering if there was anything he could have done differently to prevent the tragedy.
Hearing a knock on his door. Ryder got up to answer it, and was surprised to see his father standing in the hallway, a look of concern on his face.
"Ryder, I've been looking for you," Alpha Thane said, his voice low and gentle. "I know how hard this must be for you. Losing a sibling is never easy."
Ryder felt a lump form in his throat as he looked at his father. He wanted to break down and cry, to scream and rage against the unfairness of it all. But he didn't. Instead, he just stood there, frozen in grief.
Alpha Thane stepped forward, his eyes filled with compassion. "Ryder, you are not responsible for what happened to Aurora," he said, his voice firm but gentle. "You're not a failure. You are a strong and capable young wolf, and you did everything you could to protect your siblings. You protected your home against invaders and protected your pack ,I am proud of you ."
Hearing his father's words made all the emotions Ryder had pent up burst open.
Sitting down on the floorboard In front of his door, he looked at his father , tears streaming down his eyes, "Why .... why did it have to be Aurora ? , why did it have to be them ? ,"he asked , his voice choked with cry .
" I tried everything dad ,I tried to keep them safe , but I guess my best isn't enough , how am I supposed to lead our pack and protect them if I can't protect my own family ?,
Alpha thane moved closer to his son , wrapping him up in a warm and protective embrace. He knew exactly how Ryder had been feeling, it's the same feeling he had been feeling since he came back with seer Namarie and learnt of what had happened in his absence.
He patted Ryder's back hopping he could somehow talked him out of blaming himself for what happened , " it is not your fault Ryder , I knew you tried to protect them, but it is Aurora's fate to die for her brother .
Pulling Ryder back slightly, he patted his hair and look him square in the eye, his expression sincere. " I am proud of you son . I know you'll make a good alpha and what happen isn't your fault, it's their fate and nobody can change their fate . I want you to stop blaming yourself because i am very proud of you."
Hearing his father's words ignite a spark of comfort within Ryder . He looked up at him , feeling a sense of gratitude and love.
