Chapter 15: The possessive type
Smoothly Andras got down on bended knee and cupped both of Robin's hands in his own not that he could protest since his wrists were still bound.
To Robin, his eyes widened with shock as Andras looked like he was about to propose to him.
"I have been given that honor. Will you marry me?"
A man proposing to him, shrouded by the cover of darkness, with the background sounds of white barn owls hooting in the air.
It was not something to be taken lightly.
Robin didn't know how to feel about the absurd proposal but he could see that Lord Mulciber was serious and waiting on his answer.
He blushed, "this is unexpected. You have seen my circumstances. Aren't you afraid that I will tarnish your reputation?"
"Any reputation I had is already in tatters, I guess you haven't realized that like yourself I am also of mixed blood, half fae and half demon ancestry to be precise. You aren't exactly marrying a prize."
Robin realized that Andras interpreted his question differently.
He was a son of a deposed Queen and had many enemies lurking to slit his throat.
Why would anyone half demon or not willingly take on this burden.
"Did Queen Tiandra threaten you?" whispered Robin.
Andras replied, "something of the sort but I made a promise to Queen Tiandra and I intend to keep it, so don't you worry about it. We will marry and you'll live with me on Hell's Islands for now."
"Really?" smiled Robin.
His eyes sparkled with unrestrained joy at the prospect of leaving this backwards village behind.
Even though Robin had some reservation about a place called 'Hell's Island' it sounded so distant and foreboding but in his mind the farthest he got from the James family the better.
"I accept your offer of marriage," responded Robin quickly before Andras rescinded the offer. "You will marry me and you won't renege on your offer."
"Robin, you have my word. That I won't change my mind," Andras' expression softened when he saw Robin's happiness.
Malachi interrupted the couple, "Master I found where the ship is docked. I've already told them to prepare to set sail. The men tell me that Squire James has men watching the ship for your arrival so the moment I arrived his men probably hurried to tell him the news."
"Bloody hell. I thought Squire James would have given up by now."
Both were surprised when Robin screeched, "He doesn't know when to stop. He will never let me go."
"Alright then take us to the ship," Andras told Malachi.
They started to make their way when they found that Squire James and his men had intercepted them and were blocking the middle of the road.
"Damn it," cursed Andras. "Get out of the way old man and take your cronies with you."
"Hand over the boy and we will allow you to pass," demanded Squire James.
Andras turned to Robin and asked, "Do you want to go with him?"
Robin spat with contempt. "I don't. I despise him."
"Squire James, you've heard the lad he's not interested in going home with you. If you try any underhanded tricks to capture my bride it will be the last thing you ever do. Don't ever come near him again. Just take your men and leave."
"Robin, I have loved and cared for you all those years and this is how you treat me?" yelled Squire James.
His voice trembled as his eyes filled with tears from the moment his creepy gazed landed Robin it remained fixed as Squire James stared at Robin Longingly.
He continued his speech, "I only wanted to protect and keep you with me but now you have forced my hand. You leave me no choice."
"What does he mean?" Malachi whispered to Robin but he didn't answer because Robin was just as clueless.
"Robin?" asked Andras.
"He is the possessive type. Squire James never shares his toys even when he breaks them. I was afraid of him for this very reason, his obsession. If he can't have me alive he will embalm and play with my dead body."
Andras said confidently, "You don't have to be afraid of him anymore."
Before walking away the village chief snapped his fingers and his group of men moved in closer while Squire James retreated behind them.
A snicker sounded from one of the gangster looking men as the group slowly surrounded the trio.
Andras noticed, one man he judged to be the leader of the motley crew grabbed his balls and shaked it pervertedly while looking at Robin.
The pervert actually licked his lips in anticipation of the morsel he was hoping to get a chance to taste later.
"That one is mine," said Andras while pointing at the leader. "Malachi, please protect Robin with your life while I deal with this sorry lot."
"Yes, master," replied Malachi obediently.
Another man tried to grab at Robin but he easily dodge him and started backing away until he bumped into another brick wall.
Somehow more hired hands had managed to sneak in while Squire James held their attention.
The set that creeped in from behind smelled even worse than those in front and were in dire need of a bath.
Even covered with dirt, glitter and blood, Robin still looked like an angel amongst the heathens and had everyone mesmerized with his beauty.
Soon Robin would see with his own eyes just a bit of what the fury of a half demon entailed.
Bloodlust filled the air as the men were too filled with lust to be cautious of the demon that lurked in their midst.
Andras moved like a blur, traveling at lightning speed he went after the leader first because once the leader falls the rest of the group will scatter.
His bellow of outrage at the blatant disrespect of his bride in front of him made a glowing red mark appear on the foreheads of all the evil men present.
It took the shape of his unique sigil and these men were marked for death.
Andras literally sounded worse than one of the hounds from hell, his roar, was guttural, loud and effectively scary.
Men froze like statues, a few even started to back up but it was too late for them.
Robin's heart was slamming in his chest as he watched the men get ripped apart one by one.
He felt like if it didn't end soon Robin was going to die from fright as blood from one of the nearby mercenaries splattered on his chest.
Robin couldn't properly wipe off the blood that dripped from his chin as his wrists were still tied.
Malachi couldn't keep up with the constant attempts to take Robin away from him.
Andras realized this and called to Robin hypnotically, "come to me."
It was the first time ever he used his powers on Robin because he was too frozen with fear to move.
Andras' voice was just as commanding as his presence, low, deep and powerfully commanding he called to Robin.
Despite his better judgement Robin felt himself moving towards Andras and then all hell broke loose.
