Taming His Demon Lover

Chapter 14: Who am I to marry?

Perfect!

He was distracted by Malachi so Robin bit Andras in hopes that he would let go but Andras only grunted loudly in pain, what an animal.

Robin turned his head to the side and spat out some blood.

A metallic taste lingered in his mouth but it seemed Robin's rebellious move only made Andras hold on his hands tighten.

"You are on horseback and you still took your sweet, precious time getting here," said Andras gruffly. "Search through those saddle bags and find something to bind his hands."

"Does my master taste good?" Malachi asked Robin but not really expecting a response. He then addressed Andras, "I saw Robin just take a decent chunk out of your chest. For someone who was bedridden an hour ago, he's definitely on the mend must be that fast healing royal fae blood."

Amused, Malachi teased Andras even further. "Do you still need my help?"

"I'll survive," Andras responded only to have Robin try to knee him in the groin.

"Hell's teeth," muttered Andras.

Malachi grinned. "Your chest is bleeding. All I found is an old cloth belt amongst Robin's things."

"Until he calms down and can listen to reason, that will have to do. Now I understand why the old bastard kept this wildcat's hands tied."

After unwrapping the cloth belt Malachi handed it over to Andras, who wrapped the cloth belt around Robin's wrists.

This was not what Robin wanted, with his hands bound again Andras would take him back to Squire James and his heart swelled with grief.

He could not give up, fighting them like this wasn't doing himself any favors so Robin decided to pretend to be docile and conserve his strength.

That was until Andras pulled the cloth belt even tighter.

"Are you deaf!" Robin ignited with an anger born out of desperation. "I can't return to Squire James, he will be the death of me."

"He must have really done a number on your psyche for you to be afraid of that trash," responded Andras as his eyes widened at the panic in Robin's eyes and it moved him to the core.

"That's fine with me. Malachi please make arrangements for Robin's belongings to be sent to our ship."

"No need for that Lord Mulciber, everything Robin owns has been placed in those two saddlebags," Malachi's voice was filled with pity.

"Now that your possessions are settled we have no need to return to the James family. You will never have to lay eyes on them ever again."

Robin's eyes filled with tears, he couldn't believe what he was hearing, this noble made a decision that could affect his entire life so casually.

It was just two horses so that meant Robin would have to ride with one of them.

Before Malachi could even offer to have Robin ride with him the decision was already made.

Andras tossed Robin over his saddle and mounted behind him on the horse.

They arrived at the port a short while later.

Andreas ordered, "Go find our ship, I'll wait with the boy and the horses."

While they were alone he would use this short interlude to explain some things to the young man.

Malachi nodded, he dismounted from his horse and tied its reins to a nearby post and then hurried to do his master's bidding

Andras turned his attention to Robin who still rested comfortably against his chest even though the horse had come to a stop.

"I know that your life might seem like it's spiraling out of control but I promise that everything I do from this point onwards will be in your best interest."

"Why are you helping me?"

"I would have explained everything to you earlier had you not escaped from the basement. I am here on Queen Tiandra's orders."

"You are taking me somewhere to see Her Majesty?"

Andras shook his head.

"I'm taking you somewhere but it's not to see the Queen. It's my home."

Robin sounded confused. "Why are you taking me to your home?"

"Queen Tiandra has decided that it's time for you to wed. I have a letter to give to you on her behalf that hopefully will give some clarity on the matter."

Today was just going from one extreme to the next and Robin felt overwhelmed by it all.

"Wed?"

"You must have thought about your future at some point. As part of the nobility, even if you are of illegitimate stock, you are but a pawn on the chess board. You must have realized that a marriage would be arranged for you the moment you turn of age."

To Robin marriage was just another form of slavery.

Mrs. James was a prime example, she wasn't always the prune faced hag, he had seen her portraits of her time as a young teen girl where she lovingly held a cat.

The first thing Squire James did was to isolate Lady James from her loving family then he killed her beloved cat.

Until the only thing she could depend on was himself, marriage had broken that woman and now it seemed that it was Robin's turn to meet that same fate.

"I know Queen Tiandra means well but it is better for someone like me to never marry. I would only bring my significant other grief."

"Don't tell me you believe the lessons of that insane Squire James?" Andras said tersely. "Even so, it seems Queen Tiandra feels your best interest lies in your upcoming marriage."

Now that Robin thought about it, marriage might not be such a bad thing since it got him from under Squire James control.

It seems that the power of the James family did not extend outside of this small village.

Even Squire James had to obey the Queen or risk losing everything he owned.

For the first time in years Robin was able to relax and breathe a sigh of relief, times were certainly changing and he was ready to seize the wind.

For the James family marriage was just another form of bondage but it was not that way for everyone else.

On the few occasions that he had managed to leave the house Robin had glimpsed happy couples walking in the park and parents happily playing with their children.

He started to have a little bit of hope that come the dawn, Robin could someday have a happy family to call his own.

Robin perked up unexpectedly at this news and looked up at Andras to ask, "So I assume Queen Tiandra decided already, who am I to marry?"
