Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 614: Chapter 614: The Mother Box and the Space Stone

"Mr. Stark, yes, it's me again..." Coulson greeted Tony Stark with a slightly awkward smile, interrupting Stark's research on space. However, Stark showed no sign of anger, as he had anticipated Coulson's visit and felt a sense of anticipation. If these government agencies' hidden cards were truly powerful, they might be able to breach the hidden space.

Tony Stark knew that even if the space was set up by a formidable enemy, simply breaking through would not necessarily help. Given their strength, they might not stand a chance against such an opponent.

However, Stark reasoned that uncovering the truth about what was happening was better than the entire Avengers team and Earth perishing without understanding the situation. Moreover, if they could overcome this crisis and exhaust some of the agencies' hidden assets, it would be beneficial.

Don't be fooled by the agencies' willingness to step up now; it's only because they are faced with a threat that could endanger the entire planet. Without such a crisis, there would be more tension between the agencies and the Avengers.

Even now, many agencies had not revealed their hidden cards, either because they didn't believe Stark or because they hoped others would contribute while they reaped the benefits.

"What's the matter?" Stark asked, keeping his expression neutral.

"Mr. Stark, some agencies are willing to contribute their resources, but these are their last resorts, and revealing them could attract unwanted attention..." Coulson explained, hoping to secure a guarantee from the Avengers to protect these agencies from being targeted after they revealed their assets.

The agencies had already discussed this among themselves, agreeing not to act against each other. However, they didn't fully trust one another and were particularly concerned about the Avengers possibly seizing their assets. Therefore, they needed assurances from the Avengers before taking action.

Stark fell silent, glancing at a camera on Coulson's chest, which was conspicuous and clearly not meant to be hidden from Stark.

"Don't you trust me?" Stark asked, squinting slightly. "Are you worried I'll go back on my word and target you?"

"I believe the Avengers, as a superhero organization, wouldn't do that, but organizations like Checkmate aren't convinced. They insisted on leaving evidence just in case. I'm afraid I had no choice..." Coulson replied with a sincere and somewhat helpless smile.

"Alright, I promise we won't target your hidden cards, and anyone who does will be an enemy of the Avengers. Is that good enough?" Stark agreed, feeling that finding the hidden space and dealing with the crisis was more important than arguing with the agencies.

Upon hearing Stark's assurance, Coulson showed a hint of relief but didn't let his guard down, ensuring the footage was securely transmitted before fully relaxing.

"Now, can I see these secret assets? Honestly, I'm not expecting much, as you probably don't understand how serious this situation is..." Stark said, trying to provoke the agencies into revealing their cards.

With Coulson's confirmation, the agencies began to act. Stark's eyes widened in surprise as a spaceship appeared, an advanced alien craft patched together, yet still far beyond Earth's technology.

Stark immediately understood that this ship carried formidable weaponry.

"Planetary Cannon ready, scanning nearby space. Hidden space detected. You have Level Two clearance. Switch to Spatial Displacement Strike Mode?" A holographic interface appeared inside the spaceship, addressing a man in the cockpit.

"Indeed, there is! Then fire! Damn it, we're finally using it after all this time, and we've spent so much energy and resources; we can't waste it!" The man, excited, ordered the ship to fire.

The man's excitement stemmed from finally using such a high-level attack, as he had previously only tested the ship's speed, never its weapons.

Clearly, the ship was an alien craft discovered by Earth, repaired to the best of Earth's ability, and powered by a significant energy source, likely stronger than Stark's Arc Reactor.

"Such powerful energy!" The Avengers watched the spaceship, and the Martian Manhunter commented on the impressive energy signature emanating from it. "If this hits Earth, it would certainly reduce it to cosmic dust!"

As the Martian Manhunter spoke, the Planetary Cannon fired, the energy disappearing into the air, seemingly absorbed into space. However, the Martian Manhunter observed the impact on the hidden space, noting it created a small opening for him to phase through.

"Even stronger, and I could enter that space!" The Martian Manhunter exclaimed, sensing a brief opportunity to phase into the space.

"Next up, please. That space exists, but we don't have enough firepower left..." The man's voice came through the spaceship, expressing regret that they couldn't fire another shot, as they were out of resources.

"Buzz!" Another agency member stepped forward, using a rod emitting a holy light, which disappeared into the void without much effect, unlike the spaceship.

"Buzz!" Next, a scientist-like Black man brought out lab equipment, releasing a powerful energy from a nondescript metal box, also disappearing into the void.

"Mother Box?!" The Martian Manhunter's eyes widened, recognizing the energy as far more potent than the Planetary Cannon. Seizing the moment, he phased out of sight, seemingly entering the hidden space.

"Where's the Martian Manhunter? Did he go in? Can he get us in?" Stark was the first to react, looking around both pleased and hesitant.

"Quick! Again!" Kara appeared in front of the Black scientist, demanding another attempt.

"Sorry, the box has a cycle time before it can be activated again. It can't be used now..." the scientist explained, frustrated.

The agencies' hidden cards all had similar limitations; they were powerful but couldn't be used repeatedly, explaining why they hadn't been deployed earlier.

"A Mother Box? Interesting, indeed. Earth never ceases to surprise me. But, Martian, what are you doing here? I recall you were the one scattering mental energy and spying around Earth, right?" The elderly gentleman addressed the Martian Manhunter, who had just appeared, his tone light and amused.

"It's you?!" The Martian Manhunter's eyes widened, recalling an unpleasant memory. Instinctively, he tried to phase out, only to stop halfway, unable to leave the space.

Realizing the space could indeed trap him, as he had suspected, the Martian Manhunter was still shaken by the experience.

"What do you want?" Clark stepped in front of the Martian Manhunter, glaring at the elderly gentleman.

"Relax, I don't intend to harm him, nor do I see the need. If he wants to help in the fight, I won't stop him, just as I didn't stop that interesting Pope earlier..." the elderly gentleman replied with a smile.

"I'm curious to see your brother's limits. But it seems his limits are here; he can't engage my disappointing son in close combat due to their power difference. The energy he releases affects Mammon less and less as the power of faith diminishes..."

"I'm surprised that even with such a vast amount of faith energy nearly exhausted, his internal energy remains. What kind of being can continuously release energy like this?"

As the elderly gentleman spoke, a blue light enveloped the space, making it briefly transparent and larger. The Avengers and some officials appeared, centered around a blue cube emitting energy.

"The Space Stone? It's on Earth too? I didn't notice. But what good does it do for you to rush in here?" The elderly gentleman glanced at the Space Stone, shaking his head with a smile.
