Chapter 612: Chapter 611: Silent Incantation and Clashing Blows
With a loud "bang," Robert appeared beside Mammon in an instant. However, Mammon's speed was sufficient to react, and he swiftly punched at Robert. Unlike before, the stronger Mammon did not send Robert flying; instead, Robert sustained some new injuries, and this time, Mammon also suffered some damage.
The power of faith transmitted by the Pope to Robert didn't significantly enhance his strength but acted like an enchantment against Mammon. The holy light generated by the power of faith exerted some suppression on Mammon's power and bloodline. This suppression wasn't as potent as light against dark dimension beings but provided Robert a genuine chance to turn the tide of battle.
Previously, when Constantine's mystical chains were neutralized by Mammon, it wasn't solely due to Mammon's strength. It was also because Mammon had acquired some special techniques from collaborating with Gabriel, allowing him to ignore the holy light in the chains and proceed with his plans.
Now, however, the power of faith the Pope passed to Robert was even purer than Gabriel's current holy light. It seemed to repel the forces of the hell dimension even more, without any harmonious blending like with Angela's case.
"Hmph!" Mammon snorted as a burning sensation spread through his fist and arm. Just as he was about to send Robert flying, a terrifying force erupted from Robert's body.
With a "boom," Robert unleashed a powerful energy wave, engulfing everything around them. In a short time, Mammon was seen being blasted away.
The energy wave was different from the ones Robert had previously released, as it was now imbued with a faint holy light aura, similar to the one on Robert's body. This holy aura might not affect other enemies, but it was significantly effective against hell beings like Mammon. It was akin to how Constantine's enchanted bullets could harm demons.
"Damn it!" This was the first time Mammon found himself in such a dire situation. Although his energy shield blocked the blast, he was still scorched by the holy light, which infuriated him. Never before had Robert put Mammon in such a humiliating position, apart from during surprise attacks. Even when Robert had forced Mammon back with an energy wave, it hadn't actually harmed him, though Mammon had been impressed by the wave's destructive power.
Now, with the added enchantment, Mammon realized just how troublesome the energy wave was, especially since it was only the beginning. A series of explosions resounded, shaking the ground and sky as if heralding the apocalypse. Robert, sensing that the surrounding area was no longer the same as Earth, unleashed his energy waves without restraint. While he couldn't pinpoint the exact nature of the space, it differed from a mirror dimension and was not a direct threat to Earth.
Thus, Robert unleashed his Prince's Art without holding back, continuously attacking Mammon. Mammon had no choice but to defend, as each energy wave targeted him precisely, giving him no room to dodge. Amidst the cacophony of explosions, Mammon's condition grew increasingly dire, especially as the number of energy waves reached an unprecedented level, making it difficult for him to defend against them. The holy aura in the waves only added to his discomfort.
As Robert continued to unleash more energy waves, his aura did not wane but instead grew stronger, making him increasingly ferocious and his presence more volatile.
Just as Robert's power and energy waves reached a peak, a shattering sound echoed. The first was the sound of Mammon's energy shield breaking under the relentless barrage, leaving him severely injured and scattering demon blood everywhere. The second sound came from the surrounding space. As Robert's energy waves grew more terrifying, even Diana and Gabriel had to move their battle, and the domain created by the elderly gentleman nearly shattered. The gentleman looked on with a mix of amazement and resignation, waving his hand to restore the space.
"How is he doing this? Is his power inexhaustible? No, his power isn't infinite. Where is this increase coming from? Strong will? Another adherent of idealism?" the elderly gentleman muttered, observing Robert's devastating power.
At that moment, another shattering sound occurred beside the elderly gentleman. A large fist aimed at his face, launched by none other than Clark, who had been isolated.
"You shouldn't aim for the face; it's bad manners," the elderly gentleman remarked as he dodged the punch. However, to his surprise, Clark's body changed direction mid-air, pursuing him to his new position and delivering the punch.
"Getting old... you've seen through me," the elderly gentleman sighed, blocking Clark's punch with his hand. A loud "boom" echoed through the space as the surrounding area shattered and reformed repeatedly. The elderly gentleman's clothes tore and mended as well. With a "smack," the elderly gentleman was sent flying, stopping after seemingly traveling a great distance, a hint of blood on his face as he looked at Clark with a wry smile.
Clark's goal wasn't just to send the elderly gentleman flying. With Robert's actions attracting the gentleman's attention, Clark seized the opportunity to try to deal with this mysterious powerful figure once and for all.
However, Clark soon found himself in the same situation as before. As soon as the elderly gentleman regained distance, layers of mirrored barriers appeared between them. Clark's punches shattered them, but they kept reforming, preventing him from closing in for a direct confrontation.
"I just need to get close; then I have a chance!" Clark thought, realizing that while the elderly gentleman had more techniques, in close combat, he could hold his own. The problem was finding another opportunity to get close.
"I advise you not to act rashly. The destructive power you and your brother possess is indeed frightening. If I withdraw my power, both your fists and your brother's energy waves will return to Earth's normal space. You know what that means, don't you?" As Clark's mind raced, the elderly gentleman waved his hand, dispelling the endless mirrored space between them and spoke calmly.
"Of course, given your and your brother's strength, I can arrange a pleasure-filled paradise for your parents in Hell after Earth explodes. How does that sound?"
"You!" Clark's pupils contracted as he stared at the elderly gentleman, his eyes burning with fury. "What do you want?!"
Clearly, Clark was enraged, teetering on the edge of a rampage. Threatening Clark with the Kents was the most unforgivable offense. His aura flared, as if ready to transform.
"Wait! Don't get excited!" The elderly gentleman's eyes showed a flicker of apprehension as he quickly spoke, "I'm just here to watch. Your brother still has a chance to win. Why not just sit back and watch? Surely you don't think Gabriel and my son came to Earth at my behest?"
"I told you, I'm here on vacation. If I wanted to cause trouble, I wouldn't be stuck here with you. In the time I've kept you trapped, I could have destroyed everything on Earth with a thought. As a strong man, you should know I have that power, right?"
"Vacation? A lord of Hell on vacation? How can I trust you?" Clark asked, slightly calmer but still on edge.
"Firstly, there's no rule saying a Hell lord can't vacation. Secondly, if my power can manifest on Earth without suppression, haven't you realized something?" The elderly gentleman spread his hands, smiling at Clark.
"Hmm?! You've also given power to the Earth's dimension?" Clark suddenly understood, given the connection between this event and the Earth's dimension. After hearing the elderly gentleman, a sense of unease filled him.
If the gentleman was truthful about coming to Earth for a vacation and trading power with the Earth's dimension long ago, how many more beings like him were there? How many deals had been made?
"What do you know about the Earth's dimension?" Clark asked cautiously.
"I can't say too much; this isn't my home turf. I don't want to end up like the rest of you Earth-marked beings, unable to speak freely... hmm, I'll be quiet." The elderly gentleman smiled at Clark, then abruptly stopped, as if his body had momentarily flickered or weakened. He quickly shut his mouth, smiling wryly.
"Just stay out of this!" Clark said, his expression unchanged as he took a deep breath and turned his attention to Robert and Mammon's battlefield. Whether or not he had noticed anything was unclear.
"Damn it! You really think I fear you, don't you?" On the battlefield with Mammon, Robert continuously unleashed his Prince's Art, injuring Mammon. Finally, Mammon lost his patience. This wasn't the hell dimension, not his home ground, and Mammon hadn't wanted to expend all his power before his plan succeeded. But Robert's constant attacks had infuriated him. Mammon refused to believe a human could have so much energy. Today, he would use his power to obliterate Robert!
With Mammon's fury, the area became even more chaotic. Strange hell energy and energy waves clashed, shattering everything around them. The scene was a complete mess.
