After what one might categorize as an eventful morning, the group even while wounded continued their journey without delay.
The one's stiff air had grown lighter especially for Felix whom now seemed to have gotten a place in their antics.
"Wait if you guys have phone why not call for help?"
"And risk being tracked. Listen kid, this mission is confidential hence we were prevented from bringing any form of communication devices."
"Isn't that suspicious?"
"Maybe but my future vacation isn't paying itself."
Felix and Diesel were currently engaged in a conversation.
The former was using this chance to leave more about the world he was in while the latter didn't mind disclosing necessary information to the supposely amnesiac boy.
"Diesel's right. The delivery must remain confidential. Vehicles, phones as long as it can be tracked we were told to avoid it but..."
" It wasn't enough." Dorothy chimmed in closing the book in her hands closed.
" We were still tracked somehow."
" Could be magic." Diseal responded.
" Or someone snitched."
Evelyn whom now had a bandaged arm suggested, her words leaving most of the group startled.
"No one snitched...not from us anyway. Probably someone working for the boss."
Marcus interjected.
"How can you be so sure?" Evelyn said coldy.
"Merely a bit feeling."
There wasn't hesitation purely instincts.
"And even if someone really did snitched I'm sure the boss would have handled them by now."
"The damage had already been done thou."
Felix didn't know whom their suppose boss was but he doubted they could do anything now.
"The Necromancer might be the first but that didn't mean he was the last. What's stopping more assassins from hindering you mission."
"You don't have to worry about that for the time being."
Diesel assured, her confidence almost blinding.
" Did she get strong?"
Felix finding her presence more overwhelming than before couldn't help but mused.
"I need to get strong."
Those words resonate deep in his heart and before he knew it, he had made it to the soils of civilization.
----------
Orchid.
A city within the deserts regions of the country of Soloris.
It was large, surrounded by circular tall metallic wall that protected the inhabits from sandstorms and monster attacks.
It had a moderate size population.
It was mainly a human city but diverse enough to include, elf, beastkins and even demons whom all roamed the sidewalk of the streets.
"This looks like a modern city."
After an hour of check-in by the guards, the group had been allowed into the city and the first thing Felix saw were dozens of vehicles zooming through the street.
Buildings ranging from normal size to towering skyscaper littered the horizon and billboard with neon coating were hanged beside the buildings.
"Woah!"
If not for the fact that he saw Elves and drawf, he wouldn't have believed he was in a fantasy world.
The setting was too similar to the urban cities of earth.
"Marcus take Evelyn to a clinic to get her arm fixed. Dorothy keep the kid company. I'll go make the delivery."
"Yo Boss don't ran away with our cash."
"I won't Marcus. Now get moving."
Hitting Marcus on the back, Diesel smirked.
"We'll all meet up after dawn to decide what to do with the kid that's if he doesn't want to part for now."
Throwing those words at Felix, she eagerly awaited his answer.
"Well you're all I know so I'll stick around till I'm more familiar with all of this."
"Good. Let's depart then."
Dismissing the group, Diesel, Marcus and Evelyn ventured deeper into the city leaving Felix alone with Dorothy.
"I'll be in you care then, Milady!" He bowed earning a giggle from the red hair.
She then held both her arms together, then after a brief movement of silence glare at him intently," I don't know how you and you Summon did it but you saved me. While I might not be of much value, I promise you my eternal gratitude."
"Isn't that pushing it."
Felix didn't mind the pleasantries nor the fact that she had decipher Fortune was his summon but an eternal gratitude that seemed too impossible after all something called lifespan existed.
"I..am a demon. As long as I'm not killed, I will live by my words eternally. You saved me, you saved a friend so thank you so much."
She followed with a bow of her own, one so elegant it left Felix wondering if she was a noble.
Honestly he on the otherhand felt she was overblowing the situation too much. They helped him and he in return helped them.
They should have cancelled each other out not leaving either of them in debted to the other but Dorothy didn't seem to think that way.
He had a feeling turning her down would be more work than he wanted hence he merely shrugged and went along.
The red haired demon satisfied with his acceptance placed her arms behind her, a dazzling smile following.
"Let's get you an ID then!"
Bathed in the sun's glow, her body gave of an angelic glow, a complete contrast to the entity she was.
"Yeah!"
Felix wouldn't be true to himself if he said he didn't experience his first love then.
-----------
The opening of a door to an antique shop caused the chime of the small bell above the door.
Diesel closing the glass door behind her, stepped deep into the antique shop.
Shelves of ancient artifcat lined before her, the musty scent of the old and the creaking noise of the wooden floor all seem to tell of stories of their own.
"Shard from Obsidian."
Reaching the counter, she leaned forward and address the middle aged shopkeeper whom smiled at her presence.
"Are you one of his enforcers?"
"Nah just a hired goon." She scoffed at the idea of being a general of those false kings.
"That's strange...I can sniff the scent of a king from you."
"I meet him one's."
"It..." The shopkeeper paused his pupils diluting,"....What item did the Obsidian King deliver."
"The shard of Nero."
Taking out the obsidian blade shard, she passed it to the shopkeeper whom snatched it and exmained it thoroughly.
"He what's you to keep it safe."
"From whom?"
"Everyone, himself included!"
Offering no other explanation, Diesel performed a swift turn to leave.
With her departure, the shopkeeper, stepped out the counter and approached one of the shelves, taking a ragged to wipe away the dust that had settled on an empty space, he then careful placed the Obsidian shard and returned back to the counter.
"Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Even the scraps in a junkyard have their uses."
His word acting as a sort of spell distorted the space around the obsidian sword shard, morphing it's form into one of the many generic looking antiques within the store.
