Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Float-Float Fruit vs Rinnegan

The Golden Lion glanced at the corpse of the small fry on the ground and waved his hand for someone to clean it up.

Once the mess was dealt with, he returned to his seat, his eyes drifting toward the window where a few savage beasts prowled outside.

Seeing those ferocious creatures lifted his spirits somewhat. These beasts were the product of his efforts over the past few years. Once the time was right, he planned to unleash them on the East Blue—the greater the destruction, the better.

Ever since his dream of ruling the entire world had been shattered, his heart had become even more twisted than these monsters. He would have his revenge on the World Government.

Suddenly, Golden Lion felt the ground beneath him tremble violently. A powerful sensation of weightlessness followed.

This island, "Merveille," had been lifted into the sky using the power of the Float-Float Fruit. His ability was clearly still active, so why was the island sinking?

He touched the ship's rudder lodged in his head and frowned. Could his strength have declined that much?

Boom! Another thunderous rumble shook the air. The entire island tilted, and its descent quickened dramatically. Pirates all over the island lost their footing and tumbled to the ground. Those near the edge even slipped off completely, their screams echoing before vanishing into the sky below.

Golden Lion could no longer sit still. Pressing both hands to the ground, he poured his power into the Float-Float Fruit, trying to stabilize the island.

But all his effort only slowed the fall slightly. The island continued plummeting toward the sea.

"Damn it! There's gotta be another ability user at work!"

Golden Lion's expression turned grim. His body lifted into the air and shot outside. Hovering beside the island, he scanned the area below.

A Marine warship appeared in his line of sight, its sails marked with a strange symbol. His eyes narrowed, locking onto the Marine standing at the bow who was staring directly at him.

From that Marine, Golden Lion sensed the aura of a formidable opponent. Judging by the man's stance, the Marines were here specifically for him. But when had his location been exposed?

Naturally, the Marine at the bow was Kaito. He noticed Golden Lion as the man launched from the island. Kaito gave a faint smile, raised one arm, and aimed it toward Golden Lion and the floating island.

A black vortex formed in his palm, gradually expanding. The swirling edges extended beyond his hand until it reached the size of a basin.

Universal Pull!

Buzz!

Golden Lion and the island beside him were suddenly yanked downward, plummeting toward the sea at high speed. Golden Lion frantically activated his Devil Fruit powers—but to his horror, he found them completely overwhelmed by the gravitational force.

All he could manage was to slightly shift his position in the air. Seeing the sea rushing up to meet him, he let out a furious roar, moved above the island, and could no longer hold out—slamming down onto the island's surface, splayed out in the shape of an "X."

At last, the island crashed into the ocean with a deafening boom.

Kaito stood with his arms crossed, gazing at the water. After a moment, he spoke toward the sea:

"Come on out. Is that really all you've got?"

There was no response. Kaito's words seemed like a monologue.

Shaking his head, he extended both hands toward the sea and made a pulling motion. The ocean split in two, revealing a massive "earth sphere" the size of a small house.

The soil in the center of the sphere crumbled away, revealing Golden Lion inside, his face pale and staring coldly at Kaito.

Just before hitting the ocean, Golden Lion had used his powers to float the surrounding dirt and encase himself inside, preventing his body from being paralyzed by the sea.

He hadn't surfaced immediately. He figured Kaito had to be a Devil Fruit user too. Though he didn't want to admit it, Kaito's abilities clearly surpassed his own.

After escaping from Impel Down, his strength had waned. And with age, the rudder stuck in his head was affecting him more and more.

He no longer had the confidence to take Kaito down and had hoped to wait him out underwater until he left.

But Kaito had seen through his plan—and never gave him the chance.

The earth sphere around Golden Lion began to crumble. Three lion heads formed around him and shot toward Kaito with violent force.

Kaito didn't flinch. With a thought, he activated his ROOM.

The three flying lion heads vanished just before striking the warship—only to reappear right in front of Golden Lion.

Golden Lion's pupils contracted. He quickly kicked out several slashing waves to destroy his own lion heads before they hit.

The immediate threat was gone, but he didn't dare lower his guard. He still hadn't figured out exactly what kind of ability Kaito was using—it was bizarre.

Still, Golden Lion wasn't some rookie. He'd dominated the seas for decades and knew panic in a fight was a death sentence.

He calmed himself quickly. Beneath him, the seawater churned and rose, forming several enormous lion heads—each nearly the size of a warship.

Kaito's mouth twitched. He wasn't intimidated by the scale of the attack—those lion heads simply reminded him of a certain legendary "even-match" shinobi from Naruto... Kakashi.

That guy never had enough chakra, yet always liked to charge in with Chidori while chatting mid-battle. And the most ridiculous thing? Every time he used Earth-Style: Mud Wall, he'd carve little dog heads into it—for aesthetic, apparently.

Golden Lion had no idea Kaito was casually reminiscing about anime mid-fight. With a sharp gesture, the massive seawater lion heads charged toward the warship.

In his mind, no matter how strange Kaito's powers were, once he got swept into seawater, it'd be over. Kaito was young—how skilled could he really be?

But the result was bound to disappoint him. The massive attack dissolved into countless water droplets, dispersed by an invisible repulsive force.

A bead of cold sweat rolled down Kaito's temple.

He had almost gotten caught off guard.

He wasn't afraid of seawater himself...

But the rest of the crew? They would've been in big trouble.

Damn it, Kakashi!
