Chapter 281: She Did What?
Exalon: …Primordial Lion, I don't think you understand the kind of danger you are in.
Kael: Is it very bad?
Exalon: Yes, for now, no one would probably think of making a move on anyone, they still have things to do prior to this.
But once you show yourself, or once they have an idea of where they can find you, heaven would be turned upside down.
…
Kael rested his back on the body of the tree while frowning, he was already starting to feel tired and pressured.
…
Kael: Did Derylia really cause that much damage?
Exalon: Yes and no. Hehehe, if it was just the war, it would have been better.
…
A contemplative look appeared on Kael's face. All he had were Noel's and Derylia's memories for reference, he had no way of tracking what happened in between the time period that they weren't alive.
Kael: Care to explain? I feel like I should know about this.
Exalon: Hmm, it's a very long story…
Kael: I don't mind if you make it short.
…
Kael didn't mind this as he wanted to refrain from checking those Primordial Lion memories unless it was necessary.
If he could avoid anything that would trigger the identity crisis, he would. Since Exalon was offering to tell him about it, he wouldn't reject it.
This didn't mean he would ignore the significance of those memories, after all, more information was contained there that most Lion Kings of the present knew nothing about.
…
Exalon: Okay. Well, Derylia was born after the era of Jin The Purger, the sixth Primordial Lion.
Because of Jin, the lions had entered a stage of forced prosperity. The weak were indiscriminately killed to make room for the string to thrive.
After he died, the purging of weaklings toned down but we maintained our cult of worshipping the strong.
You would think that this would affect Derylia's way of life after she was born, but it didn't.
Derylia was born to a very powerful Lion King, one of the strongest at that time. Naturally, with her status as a Primordial Lion and the daughter of a Lion King, she had the ability to get away with many things like lagging behind in her training.
You can say that Derylia at first never knew the weight of her role in the lion civilization. She spent most of her time fantasizing about different things rather than taking action.
Many Lion Kings came forth to ask for her to join their clan but she turned all of them down. According to her, and I'm not kidding, she said, they were not interesting.
…
Kael chuckled.
…
Exalon: Everyone craves novelty once in a while, it's not wrong. We have many lions who desire many fetishes, and no one cares as long as the said lion doesn't forget his identity.
But Derylia dreamed of something else, a fantasy.
The lion society noticed it obviously and quickly demanded for her to leave heaven and prove her Lionhood.
This worked out fine and Derylia began to get stronger and understand her powers better. Exposing her to the natural ways of the lions and forcing her to do many things brought her right on track.
Many Lion Kings, including her father, had been happy that they would soon stop watching over her and that she would be able to work for herself.
She was even given a heavenly beacon, although I think that's where the problem started.
With the heavenly beacon, Derylia no longer needed anyone's permission to leave heaven, she could now go and come back whenever she wanted.
Mind you, it was at this time that the lion race was starting to experience the mysterious benefits of her existence, although it was never mentioned in detail what kind of benefits she offered.
When Derylia was tier 4, she journeyed away from heaven on her own in a quest to single-handedly conquer a relatively small world.
It was on this world that she met Sakan, the son of the then Dragon Primordial.
*Sigh*
Some say they fought, and after they saw that none could win, they compromised.
It was one of the few times dragons and lions interacted with each other. Dragons are just not compatible with Lions at all, not that we are compatible with any race in the first place.
Whereas we Lions have an affinity for the Law of Conquering, hence, why Primordial Lions have powers relating to it. Dragons have affinity for a Law that just ensures they would never get along with the Lions.
Lo and behold, after doing nothing but spending some years with Sakan, Derylia rushed back to heaven to tell the Lion Kings she had fallen in love.
At first, they did not mind until they found out Derylia had actually fallen in love with a dragon.
This caused turmoil and Derylia quickly found out that the lions did not share her sentiment when it came to the dragons.
It was then that many fortune lions started sensing a heavy presence of misfortune coming their way whenever they got close to Derylia.
The solution was simple, Very had to just cut off Sakan and continue with her life as though nothing happened. She would just chalk it all down to experience.
But she didn't.
Her view on what love was was so skewed, that she actually thought love was more important than anything.
She continued maintaining contact with Sakan, telling him of the lion's displeasure concerning her relationship with him.
Sakan, for some reason, seemed to have fallen in love with Derylia too, at least, that's what it looked like. Sakan is known to have praised Derylia for being 'different' than other dragons and lions, we don't know if that was the reason he liked her.
Their relationship eventually blossomed into something deeper and they started thinking in directions that they shouldn't have.
The lions were beginning to put more pressure on Derylia. Everyone warned her that what she was doing could bring unforeseen consequences.
She kept on talking about how he would bear the consequences alone, not knowing that she was about to drag the whole civilization down with her.
Noticing that she couldn't get through to her father and the other lion Kings of that time, Derylia convinced Sakan to take her away to the Draconic Heavenly Realm also known as the Dragon Heaven.
At this time, no one knew that she was already pregnant. It wasn't until she visited heaven again and told her father that they knew she had given birth to an anomaly.
I think this was where things started to get…very bad. That child was a mistake, he IS a mistake.
…
Kael's eyes fell, he remembered that little boy from Derylia's memories, Ibadon. That was Derylia's son.
Noel had kept on talking about an anomaly and a certain mistake of his predecessor. Now Exalon referred to Ibadon as a mistake.
He was starting to draw some conclusions.
…
Exalon: Hope you are listening?
Kael: Yes, I am.
Exalon: Good, just making sure. So where was I?
The lions and the dragon began to interact more often than they were supposed to.
There are races lions are just not supposed to interact with if we are not planning on conquering them. Before then, the lions have had conflicts with the dragons on many occasions but it was never deep or personal.
The lions wanted the dragons to chase Derylia away so they used it as an excuse to encroach into their territory. The dragons felt that if they could make Derylia come to their side, then they could make any other creatures, including lions, fall to their side.
Every year, more excuses to have conflict with each other popped up, each less reasonable than the last. Dragons were destructive and temperamental, Lions were Prideful tyrants with inflated egos, and they could not get along no matter how anyone tried.
Sakan was just like Xu Ying, his type was rare even among his own race.
One annoying thing is that Derylia constantly tried to play both sides, believing that she could make them cooperate.
Of course, this was just a badly thought excuse to justify her love for her to justify her love for Sakan and her child. She was trying to prove to everyone that she was right, that love would prevail.
If that was the only thing, it wouldn't be that bad. But at some point, the lions had discovered that Derylia was actually sharing her Primordial Lion powers with the dragons.
Kael: Wait, what?
Exalon: Hahaha, shocking right, who would know that Derylia could be so stupid?
We don't know the exact details, only that she and Sakan's father, the Primordial Dragon, had made a deal of some kind that allowed him to access a bit of her powers which he shared with the Dragons.
Many believed it was her payment for the Primordial Dragon to allow Derylia to be with his son.
No one was right, no one was wrong, what had happened had happened.
One day, Derylia left the Draconic Heavenly Realm and came back to the Leonine Heavenly Realm in the name of diplomatic activities.
And you know, lions have a very strict outlook on liabilities and risks. Everyone had realized that Derylia was a threat, someone who would turn on her own race all in the name of love.
So, they killed her.
