Chapter 146: Executioner White is also learning
Shua!
Executioner White's head was split from the crown to the chin.
Bright red blood spilled out as his glowing body dimmed a bit.
Bian made use of the temporary pause to retreat more than a thousand meters away before the supernova explosion.
Up in the sky, far away from both of them, an angel was levitating with a diamond greatsword in hand.
This celestial being was actually Han Yan, who had fused with the holy angel.
Her injuries were temporarily erased, and she took time flying high in the sky.
From where she was, the shockwave of the supernova had diminished greatly. She could handle the impact.
Bian had gone far from the epicenter of the explosion. He couldn't avoid it completely, but he wasn't hit with its full force either.
"The vibration is waning. As long as I'm not covered by the explosion, I should be fine."
He let out a breath of relief.
With Han Yan using the Falsified-Sky Sutra to attack and delay Executioner White, his plan to overload Bian was out the window.
Still, even using her reality-warping powers of karma on him was not enough to kill the Executioner. It only slowed down his supernova explosion.
At this rate, Bian feared he might have to find a way to seal his opponent because killing him felt like a pipe dream.
"Not good!"
Bian's expression suddenly changed.
He had the Emperical Aura active, and although he couldn't affect Executioner White due to the Perpetuity Halo, he could sense everything in the indigo light perfectly well.
He knew when Han Yan fused with the angel and how she soared to the skies.
And now, the Perpetuity Halo around the Executioner disappeared, and space fluctuated near Han Yan.
"HAN YAN, MOVE!"
Bian yelled at the top of his lungs and leaped up with a mighty jump, devastating the ground beneath his feet.
He summoned a pair of super beast soul wings and used the seven twists as leverage, leaving behind several afterimages and shockwaves.
He was still too far to help.
He could only witness as Executioner White appeared beside Han Yan and curled his body, which started glowing like a pure white sun.
The light was blinding, but Han Yan didn't falter.
She brandished the diamond greatsword, aiming to cut him in half from top to bottom.
"Time Skip!"
Executioner White turned invisible. His plan was to let the sword slip through him, then kill Bian's ally.
Shua!
The crystal-clear diamond greatsword heaved his body in half.
Immediately, Han Yan retreated using her wings and the phoenix techniques, moving even faster than Bian.
"Ho..w?"
Executioner White couldn't comprehend how her attack struck a person who wasn't there at the present moment.
It was impossible.
His brain rattled as he tried to figure out why his explosion was delayed.
His cells suddenly got sluggish, and the explosion of two seconds prolonged itself to more than ten.
Unlike Executioner Green, who had died hundreds of times to Han Yan, Executioner White simply had no way of knowing that Time Skip was utterly useless against her attacks.
He also lacked the experience, gained over a hundred deaths, to evade the attacks of the Falsified-Sky Sutra.
Han Yan had retreated so far away that Executioner White seemed like a dot of light.
Still, it wasn't enough to escape the explosion.
BOOM!
A supernova went off, rapidly expanding and consuming the atmosphere.
Bian blamed himself for being too slow and could only watch as the blast reached Han Yan.
Through the Emperical Aura, he saw her lips curve into a smile as she slashed at the explosion, cutting away the portion coming towards her.
"Unscientific nonsense!"
Bian couldn't help but curse.
Did this girl just cut an explosion?
A freaking explosion.
She had to deal with the implosion and second explosion, but those were less lethal and easier to handle.
"I fell in love with a monster."
Bian smiled before developing a grim expression.
If even Han Yan couldn't kill Executioner White, what was he meant to do now?
Soon, he reached his fiancée, and she spoke.
"I think I can cut it!"
"Cut what?" Bian asked, puzzled.
"I can cut the aura around him," Han Yan said with grim determination.
"I felt it when I attacked him. The aura around him is more solid compared to yours, it has more substance."
"I could feel my gene locks opening as I cut the explosion. Fighting someone so strong is like a tonic for growth, and it made me realize."
She paused for a moment and stared straight at the white aura.
"The path meant for me."
Bian nodded and also turned to face the white aura that was now contracting to form a new body.
Understanding varied from person to person. It could be said that no two people have the exact same outlook on any topic.
If a thousand people cultivated the same art, there would be a thousand instantiations of that art.
No matter how much guidance you have, in the end, you have to walk down your path.
Using someone else's way would only leave behind a shell that didn't live up to its full potential.
Han Yan seemed to have taken a major leap on her path.
This path, or way, could be called her Dao, and her realizing and embarking on this Dao was a form of enlightenment.
Now, she no longer needed to hesitate on which direction to move in.
She could pour out all her energy and focus, knowing that she was heading in the right direction.
'We still have to live through this battle, though.' Bian gave a self-deprecating smile as he realized.
Both he and especially Han Yan were on a timer for their powers. They had to resolve this before they were drained.
Yet Executioner White seemed to have no such energy or stamina limitations.
Even Executioner Green and Blue weren't so tenacious. He was like a truly undying zombie.
"Hmm, this is troublesome."
Executioner White said with a frown. His ultimate attack could be delayed, allowing his opponents to flee and suffer a fraction of the true damage.
Time was on his side, as they would eventually tire out. But such thinking could kill him.
They might figure out a way to eradicate him, if not restrain him, given enough time. It was better to eliminate them sooner rather than later.
"Delayed cells," he muttered to himself.
He couldn't control Break Six Skies as the move was meant to be used, but what if he delayed the explosion on certain body parts?
Suddenly, his body began glowing once more, and his adversaries split in two directions while fleeing backward.
"First, the legs."
Two explosions went off at the same time but were only as strong as the force of fifty TNT exploding.
Such an explosion couldn't reach them but was extremely fast, catching Han Yan off guard.
He hadn't even charged for a fraction of a second and exploded prematurely, leaving behind a 'weak' explosion.
'No, he didn't blow his entire body up.'
Bian, who could see everything with the Emperical Aura, was the first to react.
"Dodge!"
He yelled, and Han Yan didn't think twice before using the phoenix technique to maneuver mid-air.
Blowing up his legs acted like a rocket burning fuel. Executioner White flew toward her at breakneck speed, barely missing Han Yan, who had evaded him.
He didn't slow down after he missed his attack but turned and clapped his hands together, facing Han Yan.
Shua!
She swung the greatsword from a distance, slicing him in half again, but this didn't do much to slow him down.
His arms exploded, sending ten fingers spiraling toward her position.
Shua! Shua! Shua!
She cut down three fingers mid-flight before using the phoenix techniques to avoid the rest.
Two fingers passed her by, three were by her flanks, and two more were ahead of her when they suddenly turned extremely bright.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Seven explosions rang out as one, with Han Yan dead in their center.
Bian was quite far from Han Yan already and was shocked about Executioner White's new tactics.
His torso, which had lost both arms and legs, gummed together and teleported beside Bian.
His retaliatory punch had not even landed on the Executioner's face when the torso exploded.
Boom!
An even bigger explosion than the seven from before rang out.
Both Bian and Han Yan are adapting, but—
Executioner White is also learning.
