Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Everyone Falls
Boom…
A loud crash echoed, and everyone turned to see a hole blasted through the wall.
Except for Lynn, Arlong, Zoro, and Sanji—who clearly understood what was happening—everyone else was confused.
"What happened?"
"Did something just fly by?"
"Are you one of their accomplices?"
Arlong's eyes darkened. His carefully built paradise had been wrecked again. "Those bastards… I'll kill them all!"
The black belt fishman quickly grabbed Arlong's waist. "Calm down, Arlong. If you act rashly, Arlong Park will be destroyed for real!"
Before Arlong could respond, angry voices of villagers grew louder nearby, filled with determination.
Arlong glared at the door. "Let me go! I won't do anything reckless. What are those villagers doing here?"
Luffy, who had just crashed through the wall, dusted himself off and said casually, "Well, I was scared to death. Luckily, someone helped me. A really good person."
Peeking through the hole in the wall, the Arlong Pirates saw their comrades lying unconscious on the ground.
Arlong sneered, "Lowly humans, you dare hurt my comrades like this?"
As he spoke, the approaching villagers gathered aggressively.
Genzo, the village chief of Cocoyasi Village, stepped forward. "Arlong, today we end you!"
Lynn clapped his hands. "That's right. How can seven-foot men like us be bullied by ruthless bandits? Come on, village chief!"
Nami smacked Lynn's head angrily. "What do you mean? Aren't you going to fight?"
Lynn wrapped an arm around Nami's waist and smiled. "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."
Nami's nerves eased seeing his calmness—after all, Genzo had been defeated by Arlong in seconds before.
Sanji, now recovered, saw Lynn hugging Nami again and scowled. "Lynn, let go of Miss Nami!"
Lynn turned, unimpressed. "You just got some water sprinkled on you, and you're acting like this? Find a hole to hide in."
"You bastard!" Sanji snarled.
Arlong's face darkened. "So you plan to resist?"
The villagers shouted in unison, "Yes! We've endured enough!"
"If Nami hadn't held on to hope all these years, we would've given up long ago."
"Even if I die today, I refuse to live under Arlong's rule!"
Arlong glared, then turned to Lynn and the others. "What do you want?"
Lynn stepped forward, pulling a trembling Nami beside him. "I'll kill you, you stinky fish."
Arlong's eyes flashed red. "Nami, is this what you meant?"
Nami stammered, "I... I..."
Lynn sighed. "Nami, don't overthink it. Think of your mother's murder, eight years of oppression—ask yourself."
Nami hesitated, then smiled resolutely. "I'm sorry, everyone. I won't give up."
"Why wait so long? This should've happened ages ago."
"Nami, you've borne so much all these years. It's not easy."
"We're ready to risk everything."
Tears finally welled in Nami's eyes.
Lynn reached for a cigarette but found no lighter. His eyes lit up as he walked to Hachi. "Hey, can you lend me a light?"
Hachi shook his head. "I don't smoke. If you want a lighter, ask Chu."
Then, realizing the situation, Hachi jumped back and pointed angrily. "You bastard! We're enemies. No fire for you!"
Lynn rolled his eyes. "Just borrowing a light. You make such a fuss—go have fun."
Hachi bowed quickly. "Sorry."
Lynn waved. "You're welcome."
Everyone blinked. What was going on with these two?
Arlong's face darkened. "Hachi, what are you doing?"
Hachi pointed back at Lynn. "You bastard! I'm going to kill you!"
He stormed into a room, grabbing six knives, then brandished them at Lynn. "You destroyed Arlong Park, hurt my comrades, insulted Brother Arlong—I'll kill you!"
Lynn exclaimed, "Wait! How can you wield six knives at once? That's terrifying! Zoro, save me!"
Everyone's faces darkened. This guy talked about war and slaughter just now, but now this?
Zoro, unbothered, drew three swords and pointed them at Hachi. "Six-sword style? Interesting."
Hachi blinked. "Are you the pirate hunter, Roronoa Zoro?"
Lynn chimed in, "Yeah. I wasn't afraid earlier. If I'd fought, I'd have killed you with one punch. So why don't you thank me?"
To everyone's surprise, Hachi bowed again. "Thank you."
Everyone just dropped to the ground.
Lynn patted Usopp. "Did you learn it?"
Usopp shook his head violently, barely believing it.
Meanwhile, Arlong stepped forward, eyeing Lynn. "You dodged my water attack earlier. You're worthy of being my opponent."
Before he could finish, Luffy cut in. "Your opponent is me!"
Arlong scowled. "Who are you?"
Luffy puffed out his chest. "Monkey D. Luffy—the man who will become Pirate King."
"Pirate King?"
Arlong laughed coldly. "You lowly human, so ignorant it's laughable. What's your goal?"
Luffy growled, "You made my navigator cry."
Arlong blinked. "Your navigator?"
Lynn rolled his eyes. "Nami, stupid fish."
Arlong snapped. "You insult me again and again, lowly human!"
He lunged at Lynn, throwing a punch.
Luffy stepped up to block it. "Your opponent is me!"
Arlong grinned darkly. "Don't worry. I'll kill every one of you—including the villagers."
Luffy sneered back. "If you can, try me."
The black belt on Arlong's side stepped in—but Sanji stopped him.
The battle began.
Lynn decided to be a slacker on the sidelines—but it was nice to keep hugging Nami…
