"Months ago, Root's headquarters was destroyed. It's a lot like you, Tengen." Danzo's words made Tengen pause, his expression steady.

Facing Danzo's stare, Tengen replied, "Was there such a thing? I'm not quite clear on that."

Even if Sarutobi Hiruzen later suspected Tengen, the lack of major damage to Konoha would let it slide.

A tacit understanding.

But if Tengen admitted it, the matter's nature would shift.

Even claiming it was a joke, a mere building's destruction, punishment would follow.

Without proof, though, suspicion held no weight.

That incident barely harmed Konoha. Beyond Root, most ninjas forgot it, or never knew.

"Oh, is that so?" Danzo eyed Tengen's calm face, chuckling. "Age catches up, and memory gets fuzzy."

"Danzo-sama, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave." Tengen said.

"Fine." Danzo nodded.

Tengen departed as night deepened, heading home.

The ultra-clear Naruto video from defeating the Kazekage awaited, its contents a thrilling mystery.

"Tengen." Danzo watched him go, eyes icy. "Hope you survive this war."

Back home, Tengen pondered Danzo's recruitment.

"Seems Danzo does suspect me." Tengen rubbed his chin. "Joining Root, though? Impossible."

Tengen knew Root's nature.

He held no fondness for Danzo, shown by his Flying Thunder God stunt in the Hokage's office.

That move only deepened Danzo's dislike.

"Danzo, don't target me, or I won't hold back." Tengen's gaze turned cold.

If Danzo moved against him, Tengen wouldn't hesitate to strike.

"Hm, let's see this ultra-clear Naruto video." Tengen smiled. Extracting rewards was always a joy.

"Time to claim it." Tengen prompted the system.

"Ding! Congratulations, you've obtained the Eternal Mangekyo." the system chimed.

"Eternal Mangekyo." Tengen froze, then grinned wildly. He knew the Mangekyo's flaw, vision loss. Now, the Eternal Mangekyo erased that.

Tengen could wield it freely.

"Absorb it." Tengen commanded.

His pupils turned blood-red, shifting to Three-Tomoe, then Mangekyo, a solid circle center, four hollow circles linked by half-rings.

Red energy seeped in, transforming them.

Four hollow circles became eight, half-rings grew intricate, flame patterns framing them.

A mysterious, terrifying pair of eyes emerged.

Tengen's perfect Eternal Mangekyo.

"Kamui." Tengen said softly. Space rippled, and he vanished from the room.

In a unique dimension, Tengen arrived, Kamui's realm.

With a faint smile, he left.

"Eternal Mangekyo." Tengen reappeared in his room.

"Hope Sunagakure lets me test my Sharingan." Tengen laughed. "Or I'll be disappointed."

With the Eternal Mangekyo, flaws were gone.

That day, Konoha's ninjas buzzed with urgency, news of Sunagakure's attack spreading.

The next day, Konoha scouted the Land of Fire's borders, seeking signs of a large ninja force or their tracks.

Small teams cautiously probed other nations, tracking the situation.

Before the day ended, news arrived: Sunagakure, via the Land of Rivers, breached the Land of Fire's border, advancing on Konoha.

Rough estimates pegged their advance force at over a thousand, with thousands more following.

No movement yet from Iwagakure or others.

Facing over a thouSuna-nins, Sarutobi Hiruzen dispatched Konoha's advance force to the spotted Sand location.

Among them were famed ninjas like Jiraiya and Orochimaru.

Konoha's force clashed with the Suna-nins.

They faced off at Kikyo Mountain, battling fiercely, wins and losses on both sides.

Neither held a clear edge, trading blows. Sunagakure's Chiyo, though, dealt Konoha heavy losses.

Her poison had no match in Konoha, Tsunade, once able, was gone.

Konoha couldn't hold long. Sunagakure's reinforcements arrived, pushing Konoha back.

Sarutobi Hiruzen had to counter.

In the Hokage's office.

"Jonin Tengen, Jonin Minato, lead Konoha's reinforcements to support them." Sarutobi Hiruzen ordered.

That day, Tengen rose to Jonin, fulfilling Sarutobi's earlier promise.

"Yes, Hokage-sama." Minato and Tengen replied in unison.

They were joining the battlefield of this Ninja World War.
