Naruto: To Hell This Suicide System

Chapter 114: NT: 113: Danzo’s Invitation

In the Hokage's office.

Danzo never expected Tengen to strike at him here.

The kunai flashed, and as Danzo moved to counter, Tengen appeared before him, grabbing the blade.

"Sorry, Danzo-sama, that's the Flying Thunder God Technique." Tengen said, pocketing the kunai.

The others nodded.

It wasn't mere speed, more like teleportation, shifting from one spot to another.

"Good, very good, Tengen." Danzo lowered his raised arm. "Truly Konoha's genius."

"Alright, Tengen, step back." Sarutobi Hiruzen urged.

"Yes, Hokage-sama." Tengen returned to Minato's side, kunai in hand.

Danzo couldn't object. Tengen had warned him, and he wouldn't fault him now.

More crucially, Tengen was young.

Sarutobi Hiruzen could excuse a child's impulse, but Danzo, an elder, targeting Tengen would be bullying.

Danzo's code lacked such restraint, though, and he felt no shame.

Yet Konoha wasn't his to rule alone.

Beyond Danzo's irritation, Orochimaru's gaze lingered on Tengen, his nominal disciple, growing ever stronger.

With the Flying Thunder God Technique, killing Tengen was near impossible. Orochimaru knew Tengen hid the mysterious Mangekyo, unknown to others here. Minato only knew of the Three-Tomoe Sharingan.

The Mangekyo? Minato hadn't guessed.

One other knew: Uchiha Fugaku, though Tengen had posed as Uchiha Madara then.

Jiraiya beamed at Tengen, thrilled by his rising strength.

In the ninja world, survival hinged on power, Jiraiya knew.

Other ninjas eyed Tengen curiously, pondering ways to win over this genius.

If Tengen grew unhindered, his potential was unimaginable.

Befriending him was wise, if it didn't harm their clans.

"Now, I'll outline Konoha's response to Sunagakure's attack." Sarutobi Hiruzen said gravely.

The room focused, the critical moment at hand.

Sarutobi Hiruzen laid out plans, with input from the group.

First, muster Konoha's ninjas for readiness. Next, scout the Land of Fire's borders for Suna-nin forces. Also, monitor Iwagakure and Kumogakure, they might strike too.

The discussion stretched for hours.

By tomorrow, Konoha would mobilize.

"Very well, that's the plan. Prepare yourselves." Sarutobi Hiruzen concluded.

The ninjas dispersed, digesting the news. Clan leaders weighed their roles in the crisis.

Outside the Hokage Building.

"Tengen, impressive! Your Flying Thunder God Technique outshines Minato's. Worthy of my lil bro." Jiraiya grinned.

"Jiraiya-sensei, I'm your student." Minato said wryly.

"Just stating facts." Jiraiya replied.

"Fair enough, sensei." Minato sighed.

"Minato, I built on your ninjutsu foundation." Tengen said.

"Tengen, that's deep ninjutsu study." Minato sighed. "You're remarkable in this."

"Wait, Orochimaru, you're Tengen's teacher. Does this mean your teaching tops mine?" Jiraiya realized.

Minato was his student; Tengen, Orochimaru's.

"Jiraiya, it's Tengen's talent. I taught little." Orochimaru shook his head.

"Good, that's a relief." Jiraiya said, eased.

A voice cut in.

"Tengen, got time? Care to walk?" Danzo asked.

"Danzo-sama." Tengen paused, smiling. "Of course."

Unseen, Orochimaru and Danzo exchanged a loaded glance.

"Orochimaru-sensei, Perverted Sage, Minato, go ahead." Tengen said.

"Alright, we'll head off." Jiraiya and the others left.

Tengen and Danzo strolled Konoha's streets.

"Danzo-sama, sorry about the Flying Thunder God demo. I got excited." Tengen said.

"No matter, you're a child, right?" Danzo chuckled. "Many Konoha-nins your age are in school, yet you've got Jonin strength."

"Thanks to Orochimaru-sensei's guidance." Tengen replied.

"Hm, Konoha seems calm, but that peace is breaking soon." Danzo gazed at the lively village, shaking his head.

"True, but it's unavoidable." Tengen said.

"Tengen, I'd like to invite you to join Root. Interested?" Danzo asked slowly.

Danzo himself extended the offer, the earlier incident seemingly forgotten.

He hadn't forgotten. If Tengen joined Root, Sarutobi Hiruzen couldn't object, Tengen's choice.

"Sorry, Danzo-sama, I've no plans to join Root." Tengen replied.

"Oh, no matter. To each their own." Danzo smiled, eyes narrowing.

"Months ago, Root's headquarters was wrecked by a taijutsu master. That power resembles yours, Tengen."
