Chapter 142: Urashiki Goes Fishing & There's Always a Bigger Fish

"Oof!" grunted Kakashi, as he was sent flying through a wall with a casual punch.

Even though he was just a low-ranked Ōtsutsuki, Urashiki was leagues ahead of your average Elite Jōnin. He was toying with them— that much was obvious to Sakura. By descending to ground-level and engaging them in a contest of Taijutsu, Urashiki was purposefully lowering himself to their level to maximize his enjoyment of torturing them!

"Kakashi-sensei!" Naruto cried out in alarm.

Urashiki was much stronger and faster than any one member of Team 7; his durability and his stamina were superior to base Naruto's, his Dōjutsu had greater insight than Sasuke's Sharingan, his reflexes were faster than Sakura's, but most of all, his battle instincts and tactics were better than even Kakashi's.

"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Naruto crossed his fingers, and hundreds of plumes of white smoke spouted all around Urashiki, and in a flash, he was encircled by a veritable army of Shadow Clones. But just as quickly as they had appeared, Naruto's Shadow Clones popped out of existence in quick succession, one after the other— Urashiki had merely twirled his chakra construct fashioned into a fishing pole, causing the hook at the end of the line to lash out, piercing every last Shadow Clone with unerring precision and lethality.

"Damn it, Naruto!" Sasuke swore. "This wasn't the plan!"

He gritted his teeth— he should have known better than to rely on that loser! Well, no matter— if he wanted something done, he'd have to do it himself!

Sasuke reached into his throwing weapons pouch and grabbed half a dozen shuriken, before hurling them with a flick of his wrist. The shuriken whistled through the air, flying straight towards the back of Urashiki's head, but just as they were about to strike their target, Urashiki tilted his head slightly, causing the shuriken to whizz past him.

Unfortunately for Sasuke, Urashiki possessed the Byakugan, meaning that he could see through his own head!

"Playing with toys now, are we?" said Urashiki amusedly, turning around to face Sasuke. "How quaint."

Unfortunately for Urashiki, Sasuke possessed the Sharingan, whose limited combat precognition allowed him to guess his opponents' moves a fraction of a second before they actually made them!

Sasuke pulled back on the razor-thin steel wires he had attached to his shuriken— and once again, the shuriken were flying towards the back of Urashiki's head!

"Did you honestly think I wouldn't see the twine you'd attached to your toys?" Urashiki chuckled. "It's almost insulting how little you think of me…"

Urashiki nonchalantly extended his right hand behind his head, intending on catching the shuriken before they buried themselves into his skull— but just as he was about to pinch them between his fingers, the shuriken suddenly collided with each other.

The shriek of metal grinding on metal filled the air, and the shuriken bounced off each other, showering Urashiki with sparks, before flying past him once more, slicing his cheeks on both sides. Sasuke pulled once again, and the wires went taut, wrapping around Urashiki's throat!

"Sakura, now!" Sasuke yelled.

"Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Flower Jutsu!"

Sakura, who'd been running around Urashiki to remain in his blind spot in an attempt to find an opening, skidded to a halt, her fingers rapidly forming seals.

"Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!"

Together, Sakura and Sasuke blasted the immobilized Urashiki with their blue and orange flames, and by the time they'd stopped breathing out fire, the street had turned into a veritable hell on Earth.

Now, even if Urashiki wasn't completely cooked, someone would surely see the bonfire and come to their aid…

"Damned hairless monkeys!" came Urashiki's voice behind Sakura, his tone no longer as calm as it had been just a few moments earlier. "How dare you!"

'Damn it, he even knows Yomotsu Hirasaka!?' swore Inner Sakura. 'Space-Time Ninjutsu this early in the story is cheating!'

Sakura's eyes widened in shock, as she suddenly felt a twinge of pain in her chest. There was a foreign object lodged in her ribcage— Urashiki had teleported behind her and cast his chakra fishing hook through her back!

Urashiki reeled in his line, dragging out a pink-coloured orb of chakra from between Sakura's shoulder blades.

"Thanks for the meal," said Urashiki sarcastically, as he gulped down Sakura's chakra orb.

As soon as the orb left her body, Sakura felt a wave of exhaustion wash over her, and she crumpled into a pile, unable to stand under her own power.

"SAKURA!" shouted Naruto and Sasuke.

Sakura could just barely make out her friends' voices— her vision had dimmed and darkened so much that she could no longer see anything, but her ears still worked— proof that she was still alive. She'd just had all of her chakra ripped out of her body, but other than that, she'd be fine with some proper rest.

"All right, no more playing around," said Urashiki, sounding awfully bored. "It's about time I wrapped this up…"

Help had finally arrived— one after the other, the Hidden Leaf's shinobi were gathering around them, attracted by the smoke from the fires and the screaming of fleeing civilians.

"What the?" gasped Hyūga Hiashi, who'd been among the first to arrive on the scene; along with a contingent of seven four-man squads of branch family members. "The enemy has the Byakugan!?"

"DYNAMIC ENTRY!"

Urashiki was forced to put up his guard, as a green meteor dropkicked into him— the strongest Taijutsu user had just arrived on the scene, to save the day!

"Team Guy is here!" shouted Rock Lee. "We are here to back you up!"

"I gathered everyone as fast as I could," added Tenten, expertly spinning two scrolls in her hands. "Sōshōryū: Twin Rising Dragons!"

"..." said Neji.

Tenten suddenly planted the two scrolls on the ground at her sides, before launching herself into the sky— the scrolls unfurling alongside her as she rose to the heavens. But instead of producing a rain of weapons from her scrolls, she instead made it rain puppets holding weapons!

"And now, we're playing with dolls?" said Urashiki dismissively. "Just like that fellow who lives on the moon… I've used this kind of puppet before, they're quite useful for taking out the trash… Tch."

Urashiki didn't mind using puppets to avoid dirtying his hands, but to have puppets used against him, as if he were trash to be taken out… well, that was just insulting, wasn't it?

"I don't know who you are," said Guy, crossing his arms in front of him, "but I won't let you insult my precious disciples' youth."

"The Eight Inner Gates: The Sixth Gate, Gate of View, Release!"

Guy's figure was suddenly bathed in a green glow— and a fraction of a second later, the surrounding shinobi were buffeted by a blast of air displaced by the sheer volume of chakra emanating from Guy's body.

"Guess I'll have to take this seriously," said Urashiki, narrowing his eyes.

!!!

"His eyes!" said Hiashi in shock. "Could it be that the Byakugan is not the final stage of our eyes' evolution…? The truth behind the legendary Rinnegan… is that it originates from our family's Dōjutsu!?"

Concentric rings had appeared in Urashiki's now blue eyes… those were the unmistakeable eyes of the Sage of Six Paths of legend!
