Night had fallen.

Mike and El said goodbye to the four others they had been sitting with around the campfire by the lake.

Then, Mike and El boarded a boat, equipped with a lamp and a special device designed to detect magical energy underwater.

El threw the device — which was attached to a rope — into the lake.

The boat began to move.

They drifted out over the water, scanning below.

Nothing happened.

They'd been out for about an hour. Still no signs of anything.

Mike sat on a chair, resting his head in his hand.

His eyes grew heavy.

Slowly, they began to close…

He fell asleep — but not for long.

He was suddenly jolted awake by a loud sound.

Beep… Beep… Beep…

Mike jumped up.

He heard El yelling:

"MIKE! Come here!!"

Mike ran over and looked.

On the scanner… a red dot.

That was it — the monster.

Then, just as quickly as it had appeared…

It vanished.

Mike asked,

"Where did the dot go?"

El replied,

"Don't worry… it'll be back sooooonnnn… there it is!!"

The red dot reappeared —

But this time, it was bigger.

El shouted,

"Mike! It noticed us!"

The rope where the scanning device was attached suddenly pulled downward — and snapped.

It had taken the machine.

Then the boat began to shake violently.

"Mike! It's attacking us!"

A loud crash followed.

"Oh no!"

El screamed,

"Mike, the boat—!"

It tipped over.

Mike was thrown off the boat into the sea, completely alone.

But suddenly —

El jumped in after him.

Mike asked,

"Why did you jump in after me?!"

El responded,

"To help you!"

Then El's hands began to glow —

He had light magic!

He fired a beam of light beneath them into the water.

Then they both saw it —

A massive back moving beneath the waves.

"It's here!"

Suddenly, Mike saw a giant open mouth under them —

He was pulled downward into the water.

Now underwater, Mike mumbled something…

It was hard to hear, but it sounded like:

"B—te…"

He was summoning Bite!

From the side, Bite swam in and bit the monster's back.

The creature stopped trying to suck Mike in

and turned its attention to Bite. But Bite disappeared.

Then Mike spoke again underwater:

"WOLF STRIKE!"

The water began to swirl, forming a vortex.

Mike unleashed a Wolf Strike underwater —

It hit!

The monster was wounded.

Then, from the water's surface, El shouted:

"LIGHT BEAM!!"

A massive beam of light shot directly at the monster…

The monster was pierced straight through.

Mike climbed back onto the main boat and dropped the small rescue raft into the water. Then, he jumped back in.

El, catching his breath, said, "Thank you."

Mike dove underwater and tied the rope around the monster's body. El, now sitting on the raft, helped pull it tight. Mike climbed onto the raft beside him.

"Well done," Mike said. "We make a good team, huh?"

El laughed. "Yeah. We've avenged the divers."

Mike looked out at the water. "Sometimes life is unfair. But sometimes, it gives you a chance to set things right."

He paused. "My dream has always been to live in a fair world. What happened to the divers… it wasn't fair. But now that the monster's gone, maybe it is—at least a little."

El nodded silently.

As they approached the shore, Mike received two system messages.

[Main Quest Complete]

Reward: 1x S-Rank Key

[New Quest Received]

Target: Kill Player – Elephant

Mike stared at the glowing screen in disbelief.

"No…" he muttered.

He slowly turned to look at El.

El was looking down at his own screen—and smiled.

"Player Wolf, huh?" El said calmly.

"I won't do it." Mike's eyes widened.

El shrugged. "If you want to kill me, go ahead. I've had the system for a while now… but I won't kill anyone. Ever."

Mike grinned.

"A good system bearer?"

Maybe they really could be a team.

"I won't do it either."

El's smile grew wider.

"Mike, what level are you?"

"Level 57. You?"

El laughed awkwardly. "Level 23. I never take the killing quests—I usually just get fishing or angel missions. That's how I leveled up."

Mike looked down. "What kind of system have we fallen into…"

El shook his head. "I don't know."
