Chapter 23: Chapter 23: The Story of the Magical Girl

After Dinner

After finishing dinner at the Yuigahama household, Su Yu decided not to linger and prepared to head home.

Yuigahama Yui followed him outside.

"About what my mom said just now… y-you didn't take it seriously, did you?" Her face was slightly flushed.

"You mean getting married tomorrow?" Su Yu looked at her with a teasing smile.

Yui lowered her head in embarrassment.

"If I do get married, it'll probably be in college, not in high school." Su Yu said softly.

"I'll work hard so we can go to the same university," Yui murmured.

"Actually, I'd rather you go to a different university," Su Yu said playfully. "I heard college girls are really good at dressing up, and they're pretty forward. I'd like to experience that."

"You… If you really try that, I'll never speak to you again!" Yui pouted, her small fists clenched in protest.

Of course, she knew Su Yu was joking. Who would say something like that in front of their girlfriend otherwise?

"Then I'll just deceive you, make sure you can't leave my side," Su Yu chuckled before pulling her into a gentle hug.

"Su Yu-kun, you idiot." Yui nestled into his embrace, murmuring softly.

"…Yui, is this okay?" Su Yu looked down at the girl in his arms.

"…O-okay." Yui instantly understood what he meant, her face turning deep red.

A few seconds later.

Yui's entire face was burning with a rosy hue.

"You worked hard. But there's something that reassures me." Su Yu smiled.

"…What is it?" Yui gazed up at him.

"If we ever have kids, I don't think they'll go hungry," Su Yu whispered into her ear.

"S-Su Yu-kun!" Yui's ears turned completely red.

"Alright, I should go. You should head back, too." Su Yu released her gently.

"Be careful on your way home." Yui watched him with concern.

As Su Yu walked away, he turned back to wave at her.

Yui waved her hand back with a smile, only turning around after he had disappeared from sight.

And then… she saw Mrs.Yuigahama, her mother, standing there with a knowing grin.

"M-Mom…" Yui felt her face heat up.

"Yui, tell me more about him." Mrs.Yuigahama covered her mouth with a teasing smile.

"…Okay." Yui stepped into the house with a blush.

Returning to Sakura Hall

By the time Su Yu returned to Sakura Hall, it was already 8 PM.

The lights in Hiratsuka Shizuka's room were still on.

He slowly made his way upstairs, entered his room, and placed his bag on the sofa.

Grabbing a canned drink from the fridge, he walked over to his desk, sat down, and took a few sips.

After setting the drink aside, he took out some manuscript paper he had bought earlier and began writing a story.

A Story of a Magical Girl

It all began with a dream.

A young girl saw a world on the verge of collapse. She witnessed the battle of a black-haired magical girl, struggling against a powerful enemy. As defeat loomed, she made a choice—to become a magical girl.

And then—she woke up.

Was it just a dream? Not entirely.

Because soon after, she met the black-haired girl from her vision.

She and her friends initially believed that becoming magical girls would grant them limitless possibilities.

But reality was cruel.

During a battle, their senpai died.

Watching this happen filled them with fear. If not for the black-haired girl's intervention, they too would have perished.

After escaping, their desire to become magical girls diminished.

But fate was inescapable.

Her friend made a contract and became a magical girl. And through other magical girls, they discovered the harsh truth of their world.

The despair of magical girls. The truth behind witches. The arrival of Walpurgis Night.

The secret of the black-haired girl. The endless loops of time.

Once again, the world was on the brink of destruction. But this time, it was real.

And so, she chose to become a magical girl and made an unprecedented wish.

The Law of Cycles was born.

The world was saved.

Magical girls were no longer doomed to despair. She transcended everything and became a god.

But in doing so—she was forgotten by all.

Only the black-haired girl still remembered her.

And with that… the story came to an end.

A Late Night and A New Morning

Su Yu checked the time.

It had taken him three hours to finish the draft.

Of course, this was just a simplified version. If he expanded on the character arcs and the finer details, it would take much longer.

He glanced at the stack of manuscript pages, yawned, and stretched.

He was getting sleepy.

The Next Morning: At School

As Su Yu arrived at the school gates, he once again encountered Yukinoshita Yukino.

He took out the manuscript pages from last night.

As Yukino approached, he silently handed the pages to her.

She accepted them and slipped them into her commuter bag.

Neither of them spoke.

After changing into their indoor shoes at the shoe lockers, they headed upstairs.

Su Yu entered the classroom and had barely sat down when Yui approached with a bento.

"Mom said from now on, Su Yu-kun doesn't need to bring his own lunch," Yui placed the bento in front of him, speaking softly.

"I'll bring a dessert box tomorrow as thanks," Su Yu glanced at the bento and accepted it.

"Mm." Yui's face reddened slightly at his words.

"The game script is done. Now we'll see what Yukinoshita-senpai thinks." Su Yu gazed out the window.

"A magical girl story?" Yui recalled their conversation from last night.

"Yeah, a magical girl story." Su Yu smiled faintly.

In this world, magical girl stories existed, but they were all child-friendly.

There were a few unique light novels, but they never gained much traction and were quickly discontinued.

This genre had long been labeled "for kids."

He wondered how Yukinoshita Yukino would react to the beginning of his story.

That thought… excited him.

Yukinoshita Yukino's Reaction

After arriving in her own classroom, Yukino pulled out Su Yu's manuscript and began reading.

At first, she frowned.

A magical girl story? Wasn't this meant for children?

But as she read further, she saw something unexpected.

The black-haired girl from the dream appearing in reality.

Her interest grew.

Then, she reached the part where the senpai died in battle.

Her expression shifted.

This… was not a children's story.

She continued reading, drawn in by the appearance of the black-haired girl who rescued them.

Then—the truth about magical girls was revealed.

Her heart wavered as she read about the inevitable despair, the cycle of suffering, and the looming disaster.

And then—the protagonist made her wish.

The Law of Cycles was born.

Magical girls were saved.

But in return… she was forgotten.

As Yukinoshita Yukino reached the end, she fell silent.

This man… had written something so cruel, yet so compelling.

Her heart ached.

And at the same time—

She wanted to read more.
