Marvel: Trading with Worlds

Chapter 190: C137(1)

The Ministry of Magic places great importance on the Quidditch World Cup. To ensure its success, a new stadium was built near Dartmoor in Devon, and a large area was warded to keep Muggles away.

The Quidditch Committee of the International Federation of Wizards, along with the Department of Magical Games and Sports at the British Ministry of Magic, jointly compiled the Official Guide to the Quidditch World Cup to distribute to wizards who purchased tickets.

The British Ministry of Magic paid special attention to the event since it was being held in their jurisdiction.

Through the Department of International Magical Cooperation, Kain managed to secure an excellent box, large enough to accommodate a dozen people.

Hermione had written to the Weasleys to extend an invitation, and they had responded with heartfelt gratitude.

With such a prime viewing spot, who would want to sit in the open-air sections to watch the game?

Kain, however, wasn't particularly fond of Quidditch—or sports in general. What truly captivated him was watching his wealth grow and his influence expand.

"Godfather, how do we get there?" Hermione asked. She had risen early and spent considerable time getting ready. Even her little robe had been carefully selected, making her look especially charming.

"Apparition," Kain replied without looking up from his book. "Phil and Isaac have already set up a house in the VIP area. We'll head there for breakfast first."

Kain was engrossed in the alchemy notes left by Nicolas Flamel. As the most renowned alchemist in the wizarding world, Flamel's knowledge and experience were priceless.

The Philosopher's Stone and the Elixir of Life alone had made Flamel a legend, but Kain was interested in much more.

He sought to master Flamel's alchemical techniques and create powerful artifacts—such as a time-turner capable of manipulating space and time. Ideally, he wanted to use alchemy to enhance all his equipment.

Hermione noticed Kain's intense focus and asked, "Godfather, are you interested in alchemy?"

"If it's Nicolas Flamel's alchemy, I believe few would lack interest," Kain said, glancing at her briefly. Then, with a small smile, he added, "You look lovely today, Hermione."

Hermione beamed at the compliment, entirely missing the fact that Kain's tone had been somewhat perfunctory.

Kain returned to Flamel's notes, where he was working through a critical section. Two shadow clones upstairs were helping him memorize the vast library of information.

While Dumbledore had only a few of Flamel's alchemy notes, the full collection consisted of six entire bookcases.

Dumbledore had stored all the books in an undetectable extension bag, and even with the clones' assistance, it would take Kain a long time to absorb everything.

Alchemy required not only theoretical knowledge but also practical application. Kain planned to begin experimenting soon—his talent for fire manipulation would at least make the crafting process more manageable.

After finishing her breakfast, Hermione freshened up again and returned to Kain's side. "Godfather, I'm ready."

"Let's go, then," Kain said, extending his arm. Hermione placed her hand on it, and together they Apparated to Devon.

"Hermione!"

No sooner had they arrived than a familiar voice called out. Turning around, they saw the Weasleys and Harry Potter approaching, smiling and waving.

"Professor Pent."

Several of the Weasley children stepped forward to greet Kain directly, followed by Arthur, who approached with a warm smile. "Thank you so much, Professor Pinter. Without your help, we'd have been stuck watching the game from the very top of the stadium."

"It's just a box big enough for everyone. No need to thank me, Mr. Weasley. And this is...?" Kain replied politely, his gaze shifting to the two men standing nearby.

He recognized Cedric, but the man beside him, if he guessed correctly, must be Cedric's father.

Arthur quickly introduced them. "This is Amos Diggory, my colleague at the Ministry of Magic. He works in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures."

After brief introductions, Kain led the group to the VIP area, where temporary housing had been set up.

The Weasley family's tent, the smallest among the accommodations, was dwarfed by Kain's residence—a modest-looking two-story building from the outside.

Inside, however, it was a different story. The space boasted at least a dozen rooms, three living areas, and an entertainment lounge. The total area rivaled that of some luxurious Muggle villas.

Kain invited Arthur and Amos inside to rest and have some refreshments. Phil and Isaac had prepared tea and snacks in advance.

Guy might have joined them, but he had recently left for France to monitor changes within the Delacour family.

Not long after they had settled in, another visitor arrived—Reuven Amoto, president of the International Magic Trade Association.

Even in the wizarding world, capitalism played a significant role, particularly in countries like Britain.

Reuven Amoto had been instrumental in securing Cornelius Fudge's approval for Kain's potion materials shop, a partnership that had proven lucrative for both of them.

The store's expansion had earned Amoto a considerable amount of Galleons, making their collaboration mutually satisfying.

As the group drank tea, Kain steered the conversation toward the Ministry of Magic. "Mr. Amoto," Kain began, "has Fudge been particularly close to the pure-blood families lately? How many Ministry officials can he count as loyal supporters?"

"Less than half," Reuven replied candidly. "Frankly, many believe Fudge isn't capable of serving as Minister. He panders to the pure-blood families for their support, but even his own followers question his competence."

Reuven spoke with open disdain, calling Fudge by name. "The man is so desperate for approval that he's willing to rewrite long-standing Ministry regulations to please the pure-bloods. If this incompetent Minister continues in office, the Ministry's credibility will drop to an all-time low."

Arthur and Amos sipped their tea silently, refraining from interrupting. Both were considered marginal figures at the Ministry—especially Arthur, whose open support of Dumbledore made him unpopular with Fudge's circle.

Kain's tone turned cold. "It's time for this mediocre Minister to step down. He's already done enough damage."

After setting down his teacup, Kain said to Reuven Amoto, "Even if Rufus Scrimgeour were to take the position, I'd accept it. At least he follows the rules and isn't a puppet of the pure-blood families. Mr. Weasley, you should also consider what I've said."

Arthur Weasley, despite his outsider status, had many friends within the Ministry. If they could unite, opposition to Fudge would grow stronger.

Meanwhile, Kain's strategic use of Galleons had already caused Fudge's reputation to decline significantly. The Minister's enthusiasm for hosting the Quidditch World Cup was clearly an attempt to regain public support.

Arthur was visibly moved. After years of being targeted by Fudge, the idea of a new Minister—even someone like Scrimgeour—was appealing.

The group continued their conversation until midday before parting ways to return to their families. Arthur and Amos left together, while Kain remained at his temporary residence.
