Marvel : Deadpool Is My Best Friend

Chapter 166: Chapter 166 : The Fantastic Four Become the Fantastic Three

In Manhattan, the three remaining members of the Fantastic Four—excluding Mr. Fantastic—had gathered.

At this moment, they watched Alex Ray being interviewed on-screen, their expressions mixed with admiration, confusion, and unresolved emotion.

They all understood one thing clearly: Alex Ray had saved their lives.

"This is amazing. If I had an interview with such a badass Lord of Hell, I'd definitely be drowning in admirers," Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, said enviously.

Susan Storm's expression remained complicated as she stared at the screen. Unconsciously, she began comparing Alex Ray to Reed Richards. In the end, she had to admit that Alex seemed to stand out—especially considering he'd saved them at their most desperate moment. Even if it was just a coincidence, it was still a fact.

In that moment of hopelessness, it was Alex Ray who had appeared. But Reed, their team leader—and the man who supposedly had feelings for her—had been nowhere to be seen.

Ben Grimm, the Thing, stood in silence as always, deep in thought. He was replaying the conversation he'd had earlier with Sandman.

For a while, the room was quiet.

Then Johnny finally broke the silence, his tone laced with frustration. "So where the hell is Reed? Why didn't he show up when it really mattered?"

His question was full of doubt—and a growing dissatisfaction.

Why hadn't Reed appeared when their lives were on the line? Johnny was beginning to question whether Mr. Fantastic truly deserved to be their leader.

"Maybe Reed's caught up in something," Susan offered, trying to stay optimistic. "Let's head back to S.H.I.E.L.D. and check in."

She still defended Reed, believing he wasn't the kind of man to abandon his teammates.

Johnny pursed his lips and said nothing more. He didn't share her confidence, but he didn't want to argue either.

As the two of them turned to leave Manhattan, they noticed that Ben wasn't following.

"Ben? Let's go!" Johnny called.

Susan looked back with unease, her gaze settling on Ben with a deep concern. She had a feeling she already knew what was coming.

Ben didn't respond immediately. He stood there, silent, gathering his thoughts. Then he exhaled deeply and said something that stunned them both.

"I'm not leaving. I'm staying in Hell's Kitchen."

Johnny's expression twisted in disbelief. "What? You've got to be kidding me."

To him, Ben had always been their rock—the most reliable one among them. The idea that Ben would just walk away now felt like betrayal.

Susan stared at Ben, visibly confused and hurt. "Why?" she asked softly.

She didn't want to believe their bond could be so easily broken.

Ben looked between them, a bitter smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. "You don't really think I'm that stupid, do you? We were abandoned by S.H.I.E.L.D."

"When that nuke showed up, no one warned us. We were just disposable tools to them."

His voice cracked with frustration and disappointment. The anger was palpable.

"Reed must have known what was going on. There's no way he didn't. But he didn't tell us anything—he just stayed out of it. That's not what teammates do."

His accusations left Susan and Johnny speechless. They began to question Reed's choices too.

"I've had enough," Ben continued. "I like it here in Hell's Kitchen. I'm staying. You guys go back."

If Reed had been present, he would've been shocked at how close Ben's theory was to the truth. In reality, it was even worse than Ben imagined.

Johnny clenched his fists. He couldn't accept this. He stepped forward, ready to argue or even fight.

But Susan stopped him.

"Ben, please... it's not what you think. Don't do something you'll regret. Let's go back first, talk to Reed, and figure this out."

She genuinely believed Reed wouldn't betray them like this. She needed time to understand what had happened.

But Ben's mind was made up. He had no intention of going back.

The realization left both Susan and Johnny feeling powerless. They had believed Ben was the most loyal among them—but now, at this turning point, he was choosing a different path.

Susan looked into his eyes and saw the unshakable resolve there. She knew there was no convincing him.

So, with heavy hearts, she pulled her brother away. They would find Reed—and hopefully, get to the bottom of this.

Ben watched them go, offering Susan an apologetic glance. Then his expression hardened as he turned and walked toward Hell's Kitchen Community College.

He had chosen to remain not just because the locals didn't mock his appearance—in fact, they thought he looked cool—but because he had found something here that had been missing elsewhere: belonging.

He was tired of being stared at like a freak. Tired of being feared or pitied. He wanted to live like a normal person—not as a monster.

And more importantly, he'd heard rumors that the professors at the college might be able to cure him.

That possibility alone gave him hope.

The Sandman, who had fought him earlier, hadn't mocked him. Instead, he'd passed along that rumor with surprising sincerity. That small gesture had made a deep impression on Ben. He felt that Sandman could even become a close ally—and that their combined abilities might yield incredible results.

Even Alex Ray didn't know yet that his allies had just recruited another superhero.

At that moment, Alex had just returned to the Good Luck Restaurant.

As he opened the door, he was greeted by the booming voice of Magneto, who was proudly showing off his daughter Wanda to Professor Charles Xavier—and calling Alex his "son-in-law."

Magneto's usually solemn tone now echoed with rare enthusiasm throughout the restaurant, leaving Alex thoroughly embarrassed.

He glanced around the room and was stunned by what he saw: the place was packed.

"Thank god the restaurant expanded thanks to the system," Alex thought to himself. "Otherwise, we'd be overflowing."

X-Men. Members of the Brotherhood of Mutants. Deadpool. Pietro. Tony Stark. Doctor Strange. They were all here.

It surprised Alex.

He could understand Deadpool and the others being here—they were waiting to throw a victory banquet to celebrate defending Hell's Kitchen. But Professor X and the X-Men?

That, he hadn't expected.
