Chapter 13: Chapter 5.2: Hidden Agendas
Later that night, as Shi Mo was brushing her teeth in the shared bathroom, a group of boys entered.
They looked about her age, rough around the edges, with loud voices and cocky attitudes. One of them, clearly the leader, pointed at her and sneered.
"New guy, huh? Room 304?"
She nodded slowly.
"Watch yourself. You're in Fu Yunshen's territory now. And trust me—he doesn't play nice."
The others chuckled darkly, elbowing each other.
Shi Mo rinsed her mouth and replied casually, "I'll keep that in mind."
Unfazed, she walked out.
As expected, Fu Yunshen carried a reputation that preceded him.
And it wasn't just about the murder case. At Yingnan, he'd built a second layer of protection: fear. Rumors surrounded him like armor. People avoided him. And that isolation had made him impenetrable.
But Shi Mo wasn't like the others.
She wasn't here to fear him. She was here to save him.
Back in the dorm, Fu Yunshen had turned off the main light and was lying in bed, one arm resting over his forehead.
The room was dim, the air quiet.
Shi Mo climbed into her own bed and stared at the ceiling.
She thought about the charm insect inside her, the ticking time bomb in her blood, and the growing pull she felt toward masculine energy.
Fu Yunshen was her mission—but also her cure.
If she could form a bond with him—not of seduction but of brotherhood—she might just survive the future she feared.
But it wouldn't be easy.
He was guarded. Hardened. Scarred by a past darker than anyone knew.
Still, she smiled to herself.
The greater the challenge, the sweeter the victory.
