Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Crisis in the West Galaxy
King Kai waited anxiously for a response, his face turning blue as his antennae trembled. Behind his sunglasses, his eyes darted about with worry.
"WHOOSH!"
Raditz suddenly appeared before him.
"You've come! This matter is extremely serious—the entire West Galaxy, no, the entire universe is in crisis!" King Kai waved his arms frantically in the air.
Seeing him panicking and unable to speak clearly, Raditz quickly calmed him down.
"King Kai, please don't worry. Speak slowly. What's happening?"
"Not long ago, West Kai contacted me, saying he wanted to organize a martial arts tournament to showcase the strength of the four galaxies. He spent quite some time boasting about the powerful fighters in the West Galaxy. But midway through our conversation, he suddenly screamed! He discovered that many of his strongest fighters had unexpectedly died! After investigation, it turned out that a Demon Star had descended upon the West Galaxy!"
King Kai grew more agitated as he spoke, as if he had experienced the horror firsthand. His entire body trembled with anxiety.
"What's a Demon Star?" Raditz was hearing this term for the first time.
"A Demon Star is an artifact from the Demon Realm. Its purpose is to emit demonic energy that strengthens the power of demonic beings. As a result, many demons in the West Galaxy have experienced rapid power increases. They've begun rampaging and venting their suppressed urges. The balance has been completely shattered."
"Isn't there anyone in the West Galaxy who can stand against them?"
"They've all been eliminated." King Kai shook his head. "I heard there used to be a master called Pikkon in the West Galaxy, but unfortunately, he died long ago and has been training in the Other World with his physical body."
Pikkon? The appearance of a martial artist who could compete with a Super Saiyan might have solved the problem. Besides... if the West Galaxy didn't even have strong fighters who could handle the Demon Star, where did West Kai find the confidence to hold a martial arts tournament?
No, that wasn't the main issue. The real concern was the Demon Realm.
Raditz thought for a moment, then asked, "So, King Kai, you want me to use my power to resolve this crisis in the West Galaxy?"
"Exactly! The Demon Star is still in the West Galaxy, but I've observed it gradually shifting position. Its next target might be the North Galaxy! You're among the strongest beings I've ever encountered. If anyone can defeat this evil from the Demon Realm, it's you."
King Kai was clearly desperate. Although the North Galaxy under his watch was full of "talented individuals," the most powerful ones were the Frost Demons. He couldn't ask villains to fight villains, could he? And Frieza certainly wouldn't listen to him.
The only ones he could count on were the Saiyans. Since Raditz and the others had come to his attention, he had observed them carefully and found that Raditz and Goku were genuinely good-hearted. Even Vegeta and Nappa, though rougher around the edges, showed restraint—far better than before!
Not to mention the former villains Raditz had recruited. All had reformed their ways and returned to righteousness. They actively fought against space pirates, proving more effective than the Galactic Patrol. The Galactic Justice League had become an unofficial space peacekeeping force.
If Raditz wouldn't go, who could?
What was even more frightening was that the Demon Star was already close to the North Galaxy. If its power spread to the North and empowered Frieza and his family, the North Galaxy would also suffer terribly. Eliminating this threat early would not only earn the gratitude of West Kai but also maintain the safety of the universe—a responsibility that fell to King Kai. Two birds with one stone!
"Dealing with the Demon Realm is extremely dangerous, but if you can satisfy one of my conditions, I'll reluctantly accept this mission." Seeing King Kai's urgency, Raditz decided to negotiate terms.
"Name it."
"I want to meet the Grand Kai."
"Grand... Grand Kai?!" King Kai shook his head vigorously, pulling a handkerchief from nowhere to wipe his forehead. "I've only heard the legends! He's the deity above all four Kais!"
Judging by his reaction, Raditz realized King Kai couldn't arrange such a meeting. Disappointed, he changed his request: "Then perhaps an introduction to the Supreme Kai?"
"The Supreme Kai?!"
"Fine, forget it."
"Wait! Wait! Though the Grand Kai has lived in seclusion for many years, I do have a way to contact him." King Kai seemed to have made up his mind. "It's a deal."
The unknown was always frightening. Regardless of how much energy was coming from the Demon Realm, Raditz worried about the enhancement effect of the Demon Star.
He also considered the potential influence on the Frost Demon family, thinking it best to eliminate this threat before it grew. If it spread to the North Galaxy and caused immeasurable consequences, it would be too late for regrets.
"I'll go to the West Galaxy first to assess the situation."
"Well... the West Galaxy is roughly in that direction, but the distance is vast. Even with Instant Transmission..." Before King Kai could finish, Raditz had vanished.
"Oh my..."
When King Kai came to his senses, he was left in silence.
Raditz teleported to a desolate planet in the direction King Kai had indicated. A heavy, dark atmosphere lingered there, with a deep demonic energy that somehow felt familiar—reminiscent of Piccolo.
If not for these residual energy signatures, Raditz wouldn't have been able to teleport there so quickly.
The planet had extremely low mass and no atmosphere, exposed to the dark void of space. Raditz maintained his life functions using a psychic barrier, but he could only sustain it for about three minutes.
All around lay the corpses of aliens, their blood still fresh, pooling into streams that meandered across the barren surface. Countless fragments floated in the distance—remnants of planets that had been destroyed. Scanning carefully, Raditz detected very little life energy in the surrounding galaxy, only evil and dark auras remained.
They must have just devastated this region and hadn't gone far.
Raditz couldn't help thinking: With these demons around, the God of Destruction would be spared some work.
Yet the Gods of Destruction and the Supreme Kais were two sides of the same coin—one responsible for destruction and punishment, the other for creation and development. It was their continuous cooperation and alternation that guided the universe toward a more perfect, developed state while maintaining a delicate balance.
The emergence of these rampaging villains disrupted that balance. At a certain point, even if no one else intervened, either the Supreme Kai or the God of Destruction would take action, wouldn't they?
King Kai was right. If these demons continued their path of destruction, soon the entire West Galaxy would fall silent—and then it would be the North Galaxy's turn, followed by the rest.
After gaining a general understanding of the West Galaxy's tragedy, Raditz focused on King Kai's energy signature and instantly returned to his planet.
"What did you find, Raditz?"
"There are indeed numerous powerful demons rampaging, but from what I sensed, they seem far from Frieza's level. Leave it to us."
"Us?" King Kai looked surprised.
Raditz pointed to himself. "I mean us Saiyans."
