Hokage Teacher: With Dimensional Teacter System

Chapter 35: Chapter 36: Not as Good as Mu Yue

Protected by Mu Yue's Water Style, Asuma instantly realized that he had been wrong earlier. His resentment towards the Third Hokage had led him to take it out on Mu Yue, and he had not been cooperative all this time. However, Mu Yue, as his teacher, had been very responsible. Despite Asuma's constant resistance and refusal to cooperate, Mu Yue had skillfully ensured that he completed the necessary training.

Although the process had been frustrating at times, it was ultimately for Asuma's own good—Mu Yue wanted him to complete his training.

"Shisui, you can go back now," Mu Yue said, noticing Asuma's low spirits. He knew it was time for him to step in.

Shisui nodded silently and turned to leave, continuing with his own training.

Mu Yue walked over to Asuma, patted the dust off him, and straightened his slightly messy clothes. Finally, Mu Yue sat down on the ground, maintaining a similar height to Asuma, and looked him in the eyes.

The two of them stared at each other for a while. Eventually, Asuma lowered his head and muttered, "Teacher, I'm sorry."

Mu Yue smiled and asked, "What do you think you're apologizing for?"

"I shouldn't have taken my frustration out on you. I shouldn't have opposed you or refused to cooperate all the time," Asuma said, not daring to meet Mu Yue's gaze.

"You didn't wrong me," Mu Yue replied, his expression growing serious. "You wronged yourself."

Mu Yue then asked, "Do you think not training affects me?"

Before Asuma could answer, Mu Yue continued, "It doesn't affect me. Even if you don't train, I'll still get paid two thousand two hundred ryo per hour. But for you, every hour you don't train, you lose that time and gain nothing."

For rebellious youths like Asuma, Mu Yue understood that they needed to feel like what he was doing was for their benefit, that he was on their side, and that their mistakes were their own.

"I..." Asuma hesitated, his emotions stirring more with every word Mu Yue spoke. He felt deep regret and, for the first time, began to feel like he wasn't living up to his potential.

Earlier, he had resented Mu Yue's approach, but now his feelings toward him had completely changed. Mu Yue, who had only been teaching him for a few days, seemed to care for him more than his own father, the Hokage.

When Asuma had achieved first place, he had returned home excited, but his parents never praised him. Was his first place less meaningful than others'?

The more Asuma thought about it, the more aggrieved he felt, and his frustration boiled over. He had been defeated by a student just starting at the Ninja Academy, which only added to his sense of inadequacy.

All these emotions built up, and despite his efforts to control them, tears began to fall from his eyes. He turned his head away, not wanting Mu Yue to see.

But it was impossible to hide anything from Mu Yue, who had been paying attention to Asuma all this time.

Mu Yue waited for a while, allowing Asuma to cry and release his pent-up emotions. After some time, he patted Asuma's shoulder, then handed him a handkerchief.

"Teacher Yusheng... you're really kind," Asuma choked as he took the handkerchief and wiped his eyes.

"Unlike my parents, they would never do something like this..."

"That's because you only remember the bad things about them and forget the good," Mu Yue said earnestly. "Think about it carefully. Who was it that tirelessly tried to get you to sleep when you were young? Who taught you to walk and run? Who checked to see if your blanket was covering you at night?"

Mu Yue's words caused Asuma to fall silent. His mind began to recall those memories, memories he had almost forgotten.

"You should think about this carefully during your free time. Now, are you ready to start your training? You didn't forget what you said earlier, did you?" Mu Yue asked, noticing Asuma's conflicted expression.

"Of course, I haven't forgotten. From now on, Teacher Mu Yue, I'll train whatever you say," Asuma replied, wiping his face dry with the handkerchief.

At this point, Asuma had completely changed his view of Mu Yue. The teacher who had once seemed sly and unpleasant was now seen as someone who genuinely cared for him, a perfect teacher.

"We'll continue practicing Chakra control this week. Next week, we'll start learning ninjutsu," Mu Yue said briefly, outlining the training plan.

Mu Yue knew that his approach to teaching Asuma would be different from how he taught Shisui and the others.

For one, Asuma's identity was sensitive. Either the Third Hokage would be watching him directly or someone would be assigned to keep an eye on him, which might reveal Asuma's abilities. Mu Yue didn't want to show anything beyond a Chūnin level of skill for now.

The second reason was more practical—Asuma was a student, not a disciple, so Mu Yue didn't feel it was worth investing too much time or energy into his training.

Meanwhile, in the Hokage office, Sarutobi Hiruzen, the Third Hokage, was using his telescopic technique to observe how Mu Yue was teaching Asuma.

"Mu Yue is indeed very capable when it comes to teaching children," Sarutobi mused, watching Asuma go from being resistant to showing respect.

Sarutobi had already expected that Mu Yue would be able to bring Shisui with him. After all, Shisui was in Mu Yue's class, and even students from other classes liked him, so there was no reason why Shisui wouldn't.

"But for a student so young, to have such strength... his potential might even surpass Kagami's," Sarutobi thought, remembering his former comrade, Uchiha Kagami.

Kagami had been a talented Uchiha, recognized by the Second Hokage, and Sarutobi hoped Shisui could become just as accomplished.

Seeing Asuma starting to train, Sarutobi stopped using his telescopic technique and turned to his administrative duties. Later in the evening, he used the technique one more time to observe Konoha before finally leaving the Hokage building to have dinner.

At the dinner table, Sarutobi asked with a smile, "Asuma, are you satisfied with your tutor? I personally selected him for you."

Asuma paused, his hand stopping mid-motion as he began to recall the events of the day.

Before today, he would have said that Mu Yue was a deceitful, lousy teacher.

"Teacher Yusheng is great. He's far more skilled than you, Dad," Asuma said, praising Mu Yue while also taking a subtle jab at his father.

Although Mu Yue had helped him see things more clearly, Asuma's resentment toward the Third Hokage wasn't something that would vanish overnight.

"You little brat, what do you know? The Three Ninjas were all trained by me," Sarutobi retorted, puffing out his chest in pride.

"They only became great because Aunt Tsunade and the others had extraordinary talents," Asuma shot back. While the Three Ninjas were famous, they had each paved their own way.

"Sometimes, admitting your shortcomings is a sign of wisdom," Asuma added, mimicking Mu Yue's tone.

Sarutobi fell silent, unable to respond. It was clear that his son had just pointed out that Mu Yue was better than him. But Sarutobi couldn't admit it.

Seeing his father at a loss for words made Asuma feel triumphant, and he ate with a renewed vigor.
