Chapter 7: Chapter 7
Disclaimer: Don't take this piece of crap seriously.
"Kuh."
Kalawarner grunted. Now, she was extremely wary of me, having her guard up.
Additionally, now. This is the case of, I already know how to use my power bullshit.
Not because I've already assimilated with it.
Adding one plus one makes two, no?
I had simply applied my knowledge of Ddriag like so, by making inferences and stuffs.
Just as my knife hit her lightspear, I heard those words loud and clear.
My soul—rather, I devoured Ddraig's soul; is that not it?
Though this alone is my baseless reasoning, it must have been so.
My body doesn't seem to change, so I'm obviously still human, but I wield the abilities of the Dragon.
So, I had not only killed Issei, but Ddraig too?
No. That's not possible.
According to the rules of this world, if a Longinus Sacred Gear user dies, it simply finds a new wielder.
I personally wouldn't like for someone like Ddraig to be inhibiting me, so was that why?
I have no idea. I can only speculate as so.
No, even before that, why did Ddraig's soul, or whatever that is, enter me in the first place?
Now it kind of makes sense, while it also looked like Raynare was scared of me.
But… Hang on. I've been trying to use Boost for some seconds now, but it kind of isn't working.
However, penetration feels like it is at the tip of my fingers.
I seem to be able to use that ability.
But I know for a fact that I can't penetrate attacks of people leagues above me.
Now. I'm a trained human, so the gap between me and Kalawarner, I can somehow manage.
She's still superhuman and faster than me in every way; however, I have the sense, flexibility and creativity—not to brag, hehehe~
But in all, I can somewhat close the gap in ability.
Hence, it is probably why penetration worked.
"Kuh. How disgraceful, how disgraceful."
Kalawarner gritted her teeth, and seeing that, I relaxed my guard.
"By the way, what are we going to do now? The devils are on their way; do you really want to continue? Well, I don't mind you getting exposed here; it'll be worse for you than me."
By some weird fate, I became the new Red Dragon Emperor.
And I won't be surprised if the devils find us out. It'll be a drag though.
Kalawarner seemed to reason it, evident as she gritted her teeth.
It was evening, around five; the skies had turned orange, which meant the sun was already going down.
The barrier and where we are is by the park; the barrier had been around there.
Of course, this is also bull from my side, but considering Magic has been used a few, it'll make sense if they're aware.
But better safe than sorry.
"Tsk. Fine then. How lucky you are, human? Just you wait."
Kalawarner said that as she slowly began gaining ground, her dark wings spread out.
'This bitch, I like her already~ Naturally, as a third-rate like me~'
I thought that as I watched her fly off.
Wait. Is that even legal? Wouldn't people see—oh, forget it.
The logic of this world is skewed anyways, so I can't expect something like that not to happen.
With a shake of my head, I took my bag from the ground and quickly left the scene.
As for why I didn't kill her there, I considered it—
I may know the abilities I have, but it doesn't mean I've acquired the ability to deal with her accordingly.
Besides, I may need their help in the future. They are the closest to that.
But here's to hoping something different would happen.
Well, well, is that a lie, as I don't really think thing's be that different.
But still, yes again, here's to hoping something different happens.
Additionally. I'm sure I still need to understand myself, these powers in depth.
Not just that; I need to understand a lot of things.
"—I'm home."
It didn't take me long to get home.
At the same time. I did a lot of thinking, you know.
These powers I can now almost instinctively use…
I am able to use Ddraig's abilities, but there's no mana or whatever power behind it.
Now, I know it's irrational, but I seem to be using something else different from mana.
Brings me down to some options. My life force or soul power.
It's either one of the two.
'So, in a way, am I killing myself….?'
I thought as I put my bag down and prepared another round of ramen.
"… Eating ramen isn't good for my body."
I had come to such conclusions, and now… perhaps it was time to get Raynare to do some work for me.
Yes. I'm shameless—huh? Now that I think of it…
I have no way to get to her.
Oof. So I'm stuck eating ramen for now, I guess? Dang.
That aside. If I aren't using up my life force or soul power, since I don't feel like my health is taking a hit.
Is it then a type of authority?
More tests should be carried out.
CLINK~
I took up a knife, twirling it before holding it in reverse grip, and then I went towards my dining table.
Since I didn't want to damage anything I'm using—
I looked at one of the six chairs around the dining table.
"Perfect."
Completely ignoring the fact that the food was still on fire…
I raised the knife upwards as I began to wield it.
"[Penetration]!"
Surely, again—I heard it loud and clear deep down within my soul.
And true to it. SCRATCH—!
An incomprehensible sound of the wooden chairs getting pierced from the backrest was made.
The chair was cleanly divided into two from the top.
"W-woah…"
My surprise aside. I tried slowly grabbing a feel of my state.
Not that I sense anything.
Nor did I sense any changes within me.
So…? I'm not killing myself?
It's more like a supernatural ability, isn't it?
Then is it dependent on my stamina? But then, what about the flames?
How does that work then?
Do I breathe it out like a dragon would?
Argh! I have so many questions but zero answers to them all.
Time to research!
-Kalawarner and Gang-
"Lady Raynare!"
Kalawarner had entered the abandoned church in a hurry and strolled inside, ignoring the priests.
The priests, on the other hand, were in the middle of worship.
Rather, the priests were worshipping the fallen angels in vain, as if they were gods.
However, in reality, like them, Raynare and her goons were powerless, at the very least, compared to other Fallens—
No, that's overkill—compared to other humans like Cao Cao, and Slash Dog, she was pathetically way behind.
They were better off worshipping the Satans and Micheal than someone as powerless as Raynare.
Heck, she wouldn't even qualify for a local deity.
That was how weak she was.
While she did have some magic in her arsenal… that was it.
'And for people like this, they are best ignored,' or so was what Kalawarner thought.
"What is it?"
Raynare, who had been preparing the ritual room in the basement of the abandoned church, emerged from the hidden passage at that moment.
She wasn't in her Yuuma form but appeared as Raynare.
"Lady Raynare, what's up with that human!?"
Kalawarner had decided to confront her superior head-on.
A normal human? As if!
As if a normal human could destroy her light spear like that!
"Huh?"
At first, Raynare let out a stupefied expression along with that sound.
But it soon changed.
"Tsk!"
With a click of her tongue, she dragged Kalawarner away to a more private place.
At the back of the church, she brought Kalawarner along.
And just to be safe, she set up a small barrier around them.
"On Azazel's name, what have you done? Do you want to get us killed?"
Raynare pushed Kalawarner against the wall, pinning her in a kabedon stance.
Or at least, it would have been one if anger weren't plastered across her face.
"Huh?"
Kalawarner, at this moment, let out such words, mystified.
Now, seeing the expression on Kalawarner's face, Raynare sighed.
"Argh. You may have doomed us now."
Raynare stepped back, running a hand through her hair in frustration.
"Azazel-sama, Kokabiel-sama, Grigori, the Underworld—everything. He has a Sacred Gear that allows him to know everything that's happening."
"...Huh? No way!"
Kalawarner wanted to deny it, but she had been there that day when he casually strolled into their base.
Even when she attacked him… he wasn't fazed, was he?
His reactions were fast, and he dodged her attacks. Did he see it coming?
Even when she cornered him, attacking him from behind, he was able to respond too.
Lastly, him saying the devils were coming… Did he see that too?
No… something doesn't add up, but—
"I know… it's hard to believe, but he knows… a lot about Grigori. He even knows about Azazel-sama's favorite."
"He also knows about Kokabiel-sama's plans too. If it wasn't an information leak—which is impossible—then what can it be?"
Raynare finally said that, leaving Kalawarner in disbelief.
"...I—I attacked… him…."
And this was exactly what Raynare was worried about.
She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth in frustration, showing an unbecoming expression on her face.
However, Kalawarner's next words left her speechless.
"Nee… Lady Raynare, are you sure that is the only power he has?"
"—What?"
"When he originally came here, he was normal, no?"
"Stop beating around the bush! Hurry and say it!"
"W-well, the thing is… he was able to destroy my light spear in a fight. Is it possible for a spear made of light to be destroyed like that?"
Certainly not!
What was he? A God?
Of course, there's no way a human could physically do such a thing.
Even if the light was condensed and solidified to a state in which it could take on a physical property, it was still impossible.
Not to mention the knife—his entire arm should have been gone.
"B-but using a knife alone, he—"
Kalawarner's voice was drowned out by Raynare's thoughts.
It was official. They were deep-fried. Serious danger.
"Kalawarner. Appease him. Use your body or whatever—I don't care!"
"L-Lady Raynare!?!?"
"If you don't want to die, do it."
Raynare's tone left no room for argument, making Kalawarner's mouth hang open in disbelief.
She wanted to retort, but her superior's gaze insisted on it.
Was he really that special?
No… she could come to that conclusion herself now after calmly hearing Raynare's words and analyzing their entire fight.
But… a human?
No! She didn't want to!
"Since you came back in one piece, it means he was probably going easy on you. Hahaha!"
"...."
Raynare had let that comment slip on her own, and Kalawarner, after briefly thinking about it, realized—
Yes.
He knew the devils were coming.
If they arrived, there was a high chance they'd assist him more than her since they didn't see eye to eye.
And even if they did… the male probably had a lot up his sleeve that he hadn't even used.
Doesn't that mean… she's cooked?
Fueeeh!
Yes.
This was definitely the time for that.
