Highschool DxD: Despair over Despair

Chapter 6: Chapter 6

Disclaimer: Don't take this piece of crap seriously.

"So it's you. The one troubling Lady Raynare. How arrogant!"

Jeez, what's with people cornering me in the middle of the roads?

Do they plan on approaching me one by one like this?

I doubt it.

Anyways, let's go back in time a little before that.

School had passed today, and it was soon the time as planned.

"Classmates, shall we start going?"

I approached Matsuda and Motohama, who stood in front of the class door.

"...Yes…"

Wow. They look way worse than they did before now.

They look significantly pale and more sullen.

Heck, they hadn't reverted to the perverted behaviour they always had.

Was this really for the best?

'Hmm. Interesting. While the other classmates' reactions aren't that different, these two are still the ones shaken up about it.'

I get they were best of friends, but the fact that other than them, the rest seemed to revert back to how they do.

Aika too was amongst them.

Was it because they had more connection to Issei?

It would make sense if I think of it to be that way.

And if my line of reasoning was true, then Issei's parents' reaction would certainly be worthwhile to see.

Regardless of my thoughts, the three of us had left the school gates and began heading towards the late Issei's house.

Along the way, I, on the other hand, had my thoughts occupied with a lot of things.

I was considering my next options.

For now, I didn't know when Asia would be arriving, and depending on Raynare's move till then…

I'd either eliminate them or let her live.

But question. Why should I let Raynare live?

If I were to think about my main motive, watching this world go up in flames, there are certainly ways my plan could play out.

I know… Mutual destruction isn't possible since the current Rias Peerage is stronger than the Grigori quadruplet.

Asia…

I want to remove her from the chessboard too. Her sacred gear, while it isn't considerably stronger… I've read a lot of fanfics to know that unexpected developments exist.

Naturally, as chaotic as I am, I wouldn't be accepted into any factions.

The best-case scenario will be for the Gremory heir to wipe the Grigori quadruplet out.

'Our meeting this time was short, Raynare. Hope you become a better version of yourself in another world.'

However, contrary to what I thought at this moment. A side of me also considered another scenario.

Wouldn't it be even better to have her survive?

Yes. Even if I do get them wiped out, what next? My chances of being involved in matters concerning the other world are basically nil.

Additionally, I have no way of getting to the underworld.

My goal to get front row on everything would be null.

After all, another major event is the Rias and Rizer engagement. I wouldn't have a way of observing that fight.

'Tsk.'

The pros outweigh the cons, huh?

What a drag. What should I do now…?

Ah yes. I know. Out of pure hatred for you. I'll eliminate you first.

Dohnaseek.

I'll have him act as bait, along with those priests. Raynare, if she listens to me, would survive.

It only depends on how much I—rather, Raynare—can deceive the devils.

Like that, Dohnaseek is a bait.

Surely, once I tip them off with false information that such a thing is happening in their domain, they wouldn't sit down watching.

But then, it lies on if Raynare would listen and act according to command. If she does.

Suspicions would be cleared on her, and Rias would back off her.

And once that's done, Raynare would have more options.

Raynare is able to transform, no? Then it's easy. Have someone's memories altered and take her place.

Magic really is useful.

Obviously, I have thought about it.

No matter how much I train this body, it'd be useless if Zechsy was to unleash a POD on me.

Of course. I'm prepared in case things get turned on me.

I'm sure I've said the saying "Too much scheming is a schemer's downfall" already.

At the very least, whatever it was with that red orb, I'll need to know about it.

Of course, if it's hopeless, then I guess I'll just have to suck it up.

And even then, I should still be able to keep up.

Even if Rias doesn't come back to Kuoh, Sona would pretty much be here.

Kokabiel's event would still happen.

Of course, if I'm then required to integrate myself into the supernatural world…

No. It'd be a pain in the ass. But I know. It was naive of me to have thought I could just interfere with everything.

"We're here."

By the time I'd come out of my thoughts, we were already in front of the late Issei's house.

Ding Dong.

It was the sound that was made when Motohama rang the bell.

After some seconds, the door creaked open as a man slowly appeared from the door.

'Yikes.'

"Huh…? Who… ahh, Ise's schoolmates."

The situation is bad. Issei's father, Gorou? I think?

Anyways, he had hollow eyes, even worse than Matsuda's and Motohama's sullen expressions.

'Yikes. This is bad. My lips are curling on their own.'

I covered my mouth as I changed expressions.

"Good afternoon. Mr. Hyoudou. We are here for… well—"

"Ahh. You can come in before that."

Issei's father invited us inside.

We did the proceedings, leaving our shoes by the doorway before proceeding to the living room.

As one would expect.

"Mess. A freaking mess."

I mouthed as I did my best to hide my expressions.

His mother… Miki, I think, also had a downcast expression.

Even when serving us water, she looked like she'd be better off dead.

"Mr. Hyoudou. Mrs. Hyoudou, I'm sorry for your loss."

I began as I gave a bow to them.

Yes. I'm sorry, but it was inevitable. Your son was a hindrance, so I had to eliminate him.

I bear no grudge against him, so you're free to hate and curse me as you like.

"Issei was—"

"Issei was our only friend—!"

Matsuda and Motohama broke into tears, snot-covered as they cried.

"Issei was my everything."

Before I knew it. Mrs. Hyoudou also broke down into tears as she too began crying.

Mr. Hyoudou, on the other hand, seemed to be pulling himself together, occasionally wiping off his glasses calmly.

I didn't find this scene unsightly in the slightest.

Yes. Even though they were a trio of perverts, while their actions were disgusting, I didn't necessarily hate them.

After all, I'm the type of person people most definitely hate. Hence why I only use the hate word for people I really despise.

People I despise so much I'll want to kill them. For people like those, I use the word hate.

As I was in my own thoughts, Matsuda, Motohama, and Issei's parents had begun bonding while reminiscing about the last Issei.

But before that could happen, I had introduced myself as his class rep and told them that I was going to be busy…

I wanted to leave this atmosphere. Just because.

"Matsuda. Motohama. Don't forget we have assignments."

I looked over my shoulder, looking over at them.

"Y-yes. Thank you for accompanying us, Mitsuya-san."

They also gave a polite nod at me.

True to my boasting, I was one of the few that talked with them. Of course, not on a daily basis.

Most times, I had been called over to the SC just because of them, and I've been involved with them.

"Haah. Take care of yourself, the both of you."

I said with a shake of my head. I may be a hater and a nasty person, but I can really be a considerate person, you know.

While yes. I know whatever comes from my mouth can't be believed, but with someone like me, believe what you want to believe.

Now then, making my way home, I had passed a small park, and by that, I mean the playing-ground type, when I suddenly felt chills up my spine.

"Huh?"

No. I felt like I passed a thin film or something.

Could it be… A barrier.

Then—

"So it's you. The one troubling Lady Raynare. How arrogant!"

"I see now, Dohnaseek was right. We should have killed you when we had the chance."

Saying that, the woman in front of me summoned her lightspear, pointing it at me.

"Say. What have you done to Lady Raynare?"

Haah. I never anticipated this even though I should.

I see. What a mistake. It's obvious Raynare might not have told them.

Even if she did and did not. There's nothing stopping them from approaching it.

"Be it not that you are deaf? Speak, human!"

HYUN!

She hurled the light spear towards me; however, I simply jumped to the sides.

"Well, well, so much for the hopes I had in you."

I said simply, dusting my clothes, before looking back at her.

"What are you talking about?"

She snarled at me, summoning another light spear.

But I pointed towards her with an almost unbothered gaze.

"Why didn't you ask her why she hadn't disposed of me? Is your brain empty or what?"

Really. I wasn't trying to rile her up. But it looks like I did.

"Die! Inferior creature."

HYUN! TSUM!

This time. The spear came faster at me, but I jumped and rolled over the ground, avoiding it.

'Of course, while I'm prepared to bite the dust at any moment, I wouldn't do that without a fight.'

Since my bag was a hindrance, I dropped it on the floor while removing my trusty knife from my bag's compartment.

"Hah! Lowly Dust. Brandishing a knife against a superior race? How foul."

She said as another spear appeared in her hand. Yikes, it looks like I'm in trouble, doesn't it?

"Haah. Fine then, I can't really reason with a person who's out to kill me in the first place, can I?"

'But really. The best I can do is this, huh?'

I thought as I tried dodging another spear this time.

My body swerved to the left as my left foot skidded against the ground.

However, as I did.

Crap—!

"Right where I wanted!"

Raynare had shouted that as she appeared behind me.

A miscalculation.

Yeah. I was thinking of going against the supernatural while being a human.

How naive and stupid, no?

'But even then. Even if I die, I have stripped the world of its chosen, so why not do your worst, already?'

I had thought with a satisfied smile as I immediately changed the knife I was holding to a reverse grip style.

Backhanded, I swung the sword towards the light spear, approaching from behind.

The world went silent.

I could almost hear the sound of my heartbeat.

… I was close to death.

Yet, there was a smile on my face. I know this for a fact.

Back then, when I always had a knife to my neck, at first, it was fear.

But after having the cold steel close to my neck so many times, it had changed to thrill.

I have already tasted death once.

Yes… that feeling. I wouldn't complain if I had to taste it again.

I had long conquered the coldness of steel.

And I had once tasted death.

Sweet silence.

Hell.

And rebirth.

["He who holds Domination over Death" transcendence acquired.]

My chances of reincarnating again were close to zero. No… I'm not satisfied with this yet.

For some unknown reason I didn't understand. The world slowed down to the point I was able to have this inner conversation with myself.

Was this what was known as… when one is close to death, time becomes slower for them, or something?

Rather. It doesn't matter.

After all—

[Penetration]!

I can now hear that voice loud and clear.

CHINK!

That was the sound of Kalawarner's light spear scattering into a thousand light particles.

Both our eyes widened as this happened.

And just immediately, she jumped back.

"What just happened?"

She looked at me almost wide-eyed. However, I had simply let out a maniacal laugh.

"Hahahahahaha!"

I had a feeling something like this was going to eventually happen.

But this was my trigger, wasn't it?

"What did you do?"

You don't know, dear Kalawarner.

"The equation was simple; for Issei, it was his imagination, but for me, it's not quite that; it's my nature."

"But while that is said. I never really expect such a thing to happen, really. While I hate for things to turn out this way, at the same time I'm glad regardless."

I had said while I let my hands spread as I talked to myself.

"What are you rambling on and on about? That human… Has he finally gone mad?"

The prerequisites for me and others are different.

I'm a freak by nature. An evil-loving person. A third-rate villain.

My own sacred gear isn't the boosted gear; rather, I stole the abilities of Ddraig. Isn't that it?

"Hahahahaha."

I covered my eyes, throwing my head back before looking back at Raynare.

"Well, well, well, a twist, is it not?"

"Shit… The air around that human has changed. What's going on?"

– It was at this moment, Kalawarner knew, or rather, she understood why Raynare had stayed her hands.

The principles of Domination, more than that, whatever that orb was indeed was related to Ddraig.

Was it the heavenly dragon's essence? Who knows?

However, one thing is for sure.

Mitsuya Kimitsuki, the main character, was now the new Red Dragon Emperor.

Rather, he was now the world's first dragonoid.

-Author's note-

I swear, I didn't want to make it turn out this way. But considering the MC basically has no connections, he'd be bullied quite a lot by those with power.

Additionally, I know people wouldn't like a powerless MC, and honestly, same here.

Now, of course. He wouldn't be OP, as he's not a sacred gear user; if anything, he's more like Milim.

However, please note. He only has Ddraig's ability; he himself is still human and not a dragon.

But because he now has Ddraig's ability, for convenience's sake, I referred to him as a Dragonoid.

Naturally, boost, penetrate, flight, telepathy, soul transfer. Basically any Ddraig's ability can still be used:

In addition, some Dragon Haki or Aura or something can still be used, but of course, limited to what his body can hold.

Just consider it like this: any abilities Ddraig can use are now naturally his.

Though as for breathing fire, his lungs would be in danger, so MC would think his way around that.

Now, I do also plan on giving him a Balance Break too, but well get there.

Obviously, since his body is still human, no, "I smell a Dragon" bs with Koneko.

I'm trying to do things in a way Rias and the rest wouldn't discover him that easily.

That said, I don't plan on making them braindead. So, just hop on this chaotic mess of a fic.
