He's Special To Me

Chapter 3: Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Hae Jin was once again seated on the couch he sat on earlier but this time, he wasn't alone. His guest, the lady he met in the previous chapter, was with him.

The lady sat on the dirty wooden floor a few steps away from him. Waiting for him to give her a seat but judging by the way Hae Jin looked (Lost in thought) she didn't think it was happening any time soon.

Hae Jin found out from her that her name was Sung-Yoon and she was a ghost just like him.

Talk about having bad luck and hoping too much.

He really hoped Sung-Yoon would be human. A human who could see him, hear and maybe touch him and what happened? His hope crushed into pieces right before his eyes.

Great! He thought sarcastically,

At least he met someone like himself. Someone who could see him, talk to him and touch him, he won't be lonely anymore right?

*Sigh, even so,............he still wished she was human. But, as the saying goes 'Beggars can't be choosers'

He should just accept what he got and be grateful.

"You're thinking of something rude right? I can see it in your eyes"

"I wouldn't dare" Hae Jin lied through his teeth, avoiding Sung-Yoon's gaze.

Sung-Yoon sighed, seeing through his lie but decided not to say anything about it. That's right, she couldn't afford to offend this guy when she needed this safe place.

What if he kicked her out of the house? Surely, those demons would have her head.

By the way,........ Sung-Yoon looked up at Hae Jin who was still avoiding her gaze, looking guilty as he should be.

What a cutie.

Damn! How can anyone be cute and handsome at the same time? Then again, there were many people like that. He wasn't the first and won't be the last.

But still! How come anyone can be this cute and handsome at the same time?!

Describing him.

His height was about 160cm and she came to this conclusion when they stood facing each other earlier.

He had what she thought was a handsome cute face, light blue hair and beautiful crystal blue eyes that seemed to gain all her attention every time she saw them. They seemed lonely and fearful.

This bothered her a lot. A handsome cute guy's eyes must always show happiness, enjoyment!

........... Then again, maybe his eyes didn't spark with liveliness because he's dead.

He's a ghost.

Whatever the case was, she was here and she will make sure she brings a smile on that handsome face of his.

"Wow, you really are cute and handsome," Sung-Yoon said, thinking it would bring a smile to his face. From her time of being alive, she realized guys really liked, loved it when they got good comments about their looks.

But....... It seems Hae Jin wasn't one of those guys and she could tell by the way he was glaring at her.

"Cute! I'm not cute! I'm handsome and cool" That's his beef? He didn't like being called cute?

That's nonsense in her book!

Sung-Yoon frowned at him, stating, "Listen to me darling, you're handsome, gorgeous! And cute! And the sooner you get that into your head, the better it will do you. You won't be hearing the word 'Cute' from only me you know" Sung-Yoon rolled her eyes at him.

What was so bad about a guy being cute? He was cute! Very cute!

And that wasn't going to change no matter what he said or how many times he looked at himself in a mirror.

Writer: Ghosts don't reflect in mirrors.

And he better get used to being called one because she won't be the last per—ghost he will hear it from.

And she completely ignored me. *Sigh, am the writer, how can she ignore me?

*Sigh, Hae Jin sighed tiredly, "Let's just drop this subject" Being called cute really spoiled his already ruined mood.

"Seriously" Hae Jin looked at her, watching her as she scanned the room. "This place really is dirty. Everywhere is dirty, the walls, doors, floors. I can literally count all the cobwebs around! Also, I hate the fact that I'm seated on this dirty floor"

Hae Jin rolled his eyes, feeling irritated, "Are you complaining? And what's wrong with sitting on dirty floors? You're a ghost right? You don't get dirty!" Sung-Yoon awkwardly turned her head to look at Hae Jin, meeting an angered look on his face.

*Sigh, here she didn't want to get kicked out but looking at the situation she brought upon herself, she might get kicked sooner. She had to do something.

"Oh, come on handsome, please don't be angry. You're cool right? Cool guys don't get angry easily" she said, beaming at him. With what she said, surely, Hae Jin won't kick her out right? He loved to be called cool and handsome.

Once again, Hae Jin rolled his eyes saying, "I thought I was cute"

Oh, it didn't work, "Please don't mind my foolish mouth! It always spouts nonsense" Sung-Yoon slapped her lips with an awkward smile.

"Whatever" Hae Jin sighed, trying to calm down. Succeeding, he asked, "By the way, what are you doing here? And, how did you die?" Hae Jin asked curiously and he watched as Sung-Yoon looked down, saddened.

Ah, now he felt bad for asking that question (About how she died)

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to share," he hurriedly said. Not wanting to see Sung-Yoon any more sad than she already was.

But the person he was so worried about, ignored his concern as she shook her head, sending the message "Is okay" with a sad smile as she looked at Hae Jin.

"I don't have a problem sharing it with you. I just...... I feel sad when I recall how I died. The pain I went through. I......"

"Then you don't have to tell me" from what Sung-Yoon just said, it was enough not to share. Again, he didn't want to see her anymore sad than she already was.

But who knew she wouldn't listen, "I died.........from cancer months back" she shared, leaving Hae Jin speechless. Cancer? She must have gone through hell and back.

"A while ago I was running from evil ghosts. I don't know what they wanted from me but if my guess is right, they wanted to corrupt my soul so I can join them"

Evil ghosts? Now that was news to him. He had no idea what was happening in the ghost world or what the ghost world was like because he was trapped here. Has been trapped here since his death.

"Evil ghosts?"

"Yeah, don't tell me........" Sung-Yoon looked surprised at him and for some reason, Hae Jin felt stupid. "You, when did you die?"

"I don't know, but I do believe it was six years ago. I don't remember anything else besides that, my name and age. Not even how I died"

"Oh, that's sad" said Sung-Yoon, and this reminded her of her friend Chae Joon.

"I know right, and the saddest thing is, I've been trapped in here all these years. You're the only one I've met that can see and hear me" She beamed at his words, "I feel honored" But she still couldn't stop thinking about how lucky she was that she wasn't trapped anywhere.

Her thoughts were interrupted when Hae Jin's laughter sounded out probably because of what she said to him.

Almost immediately, she snapped her head up at him and she couldn't help but stare at him in fascination. His laughter sounded amazing to the ears and his face,...... Hae Jin should always laugh because he looked so beautiful when he did.

"I see" She snapped out of her thoughts when Hae Jin spoke.

Curiously, she asked, "By the way, do you know the four reasons why a soul would get stuck or still remain in this world after their death?"

"Uh?" Hae Jin asked stupidly, staring at Sung-Yoon with a bewildered look and she found it cute.

Smiling, she said, "There are four reasons for a soul to remain or get stuck in this world after their death. The first reason is, they don't know how they died, the second reason is, it wasn't their time when they died. Like me"

"You?" Hae Jin asked curiously and once again, Sung Yoon smiled at how cute he looked.

"Yeah, everyone in this world has a time of death. It wasn't my time when I died so I have no choice but to remain in this world till my time is due"

"Seriously?!" Hae Jin exclaimed in shock. This was a lot to take in! And, how long was that going to take? Days? Weeks? Months? Years? For how long?!

And Sung-Yoon had no choice but to accept this. How boring, lonely it was going to be?!!!

"I don't know for how long I will have to stay in this world but one thing is right, I will do everything in my power to stay happy until then" Sung-Yoon said with a smile, watching Hae Jin who stared at her with widened eyes.

Finding Sung-Yoon cool.

And like Sung-Yoon knew what he was thinking, she asked, "Was I cool just now?" Hae Jin nodded continuously, agreeing.

Sung-Yoon flipped her hair, saying, "Oh, really? I know I’m cool, I've always been cool. I'm the coolest there is" she said confidently and proudly. Hae Jin rolled his eyes, already feeling irritated as he said,

"I take back what I said"

"Oh, no, please don't!" Sung-Yoon exclaimed in horror, panicking. Witnessing her reaction, Hae Jin couldn't help but smile.

It felt so good speaking to someone who wasn't himself. He missed this feeling.

"Oh, and, I remember everything from when I was alive" Hae Jin snapped out of his thoughts, asking in a curious surprised tone, "You remember your parents? Your family? Friends?" Sung-Yoon nodded with a smile, "I do. I remember everything"

"Then, have you paid them a visit?" Sung-Yoon shook her head, a sad smile lit on her lips as she said, "I haven't gotten the courage to" and with her last sentence, silence took over.

Hae Jin pitied her but he didn't know what to say to comfort her. Pity? He was the one that should be pitied. Not only did he not remember anything about himself, in fact he had no clue of his past life.

Between them, he was more pitiful.

Sung-Yoon cleared her throat, breaking the silence that took control after her last words, "Anyway," Hae Jin looked up at her, "The third reason, the person who died had an unfinished business to settle. With them, I heard some settle their business and crossover to the otherside while others still remain. I think maybe it is because it wasn't their time yet when they died. In that case, they have to wait until is their time before they crossover"

Hae Jin nodded, processing what she said, "Yeah, maybe you're right"

"And the fourth reason is, the person who died had no desire of crossing over to the other side even though they knew how they died, died when their time was due and had no business to settle. Those ghosts who were after me were the same. They had no desire to crossover to the other side. They just want to remain in the world, doing evil"

"So then, those who have no desire to crossover to the other side could either be good souls or evil souls?"

"I don't know dear, but all those kinds of souls I've met so far are evil. Evil to the core!" Hae Jin smiled, "I see"

"Anyway, the reasons don't have to be in order, I said them and you got them right?"

"So they do have to be in order. You messed them up, didn't you?"

"I won't answer" Sung-Yoon looked away with a guilty expression and Hae Jin couldn't help but smile. Who knew she could be cute

Come to think of it,

"Where were you staying before you came here?" He asked, reminding Sung-Yoon of her deep wound caused by betrayal.

"Right! That bastard Chae Joon!! He left me when he found his special one!!!" Sung-

Yoon exclaimed angrily but Hae Jin was lost, a bewildered look on his face as he stared at Sung-Yoon.

"Special One?" He asked in a confused tone and expression, "What's that?”
