He's Special To Me

Chapter 2: Chapter 1

The story begins with Hae Jin, a young man who died six years ago and was now a lonely depressed ghost.

As usual, he was in the old abandoned house, seated on one of the couches in the living room, reminiscing about his life.

The old house was big and unkept, both inside and out. All the walls, floors, rooms, everywhere were dirty with cobwebs at every corner. One look, and you know the house hasn't been clean for years. That is true.

The house has always been this filthy even before Hae Jin's arrival. And he testified because he was a witness. When he first arrived here, the house looked just as it did now. Okay, maybe even more filthier now.

It had three bedrooms with each having a bathroom, a large living room, kitchen, a porch and a backyard. All the furniture in the house was covered with white clothes, including the couch he currently sat on.

Hae Jin has been trapped in this house since he died six years ago, he strongly believed this.

And to say this house was abandoned couldn't exactly be true, after all, a woman, who has now aged used to come by once every year.

Her actions were confusing. She never came to clean the house or anything like that. She would take a look around and then leave. What was up with that?!

She wasn't blind nor did she have eye problems. 'Wow, it's so dirty" she would say and he would reply,

"Clean up then, who do you expect to do it?" It was such a shame she couldn't hear him.

Anyway, he didn't know the woman nor did he know the reason why she came by once every year.

He could only guess she came over to dwell on her past. He was certain she used to live in the house or someone she knew and cared for used to live here.

She didn't know the woman, but there was one thing that made him feel grateful towards her. Every time she came by, she would bring a new calendar of the year and also leave him food.

He had no clue as to why she did that. Neither did he know if it was done for him or not, but it helped him a lot and he was grateful.

Also, she was the reason why he found out he was dead.

Hae Jin first found out he was dead on one faithful day, when the woman came by and that day was also the first time he met her. The first time he appeared here.

On seeing her, he was glad, excited because he was confused about what was going on. He had no clue of what happened or why he was here, trapped in the house.

Desperate to find out what was going on, he tried to talk to her, touch her and even block the woman's path, thinking she was intentionally ignoring him or something but to his surprise, she walked through him. The woman couldn't hear him nor could he touch her. She didn't see him.

She didn't notice his presence at all.

Besides her, there has never been anyone else who either paid a visit to the house or came by to buy or rent the house. And it has been this way ever since his arrival.

Trap in this house, the one person he has met was the woman who came around once every year, no one else.

So many times, he tried getting out of the house but to no avail. He was always sent back either slamming against the dirty walls to the dirty floors or he was sent back on his two feet.

Usually, it depended on the amount of strength and speed he used to pass through the front door of the house.

There was something, a strong force, a barrier at the door which was preventing him from leaving.

And it wasn't just the front door but the back door and the windows as well. He couldn't escape through any of them. He was literally trapped in the house and every time he tried getting out, he was reminded of this.

He was now fed up with trying to leave.

Okay, maybe he was fed up with getting thrown back like a piece of trash every time he tried getting out. Right, that was it.

*Sigh, he sighed, looking up at the dirty ceiling which had cobwebs all over.

Who was he? He was curious. He had no memories of when he was alive.

The only information he knew about himself was his given name, age (24) and when he died (Six years ago). Well, he came to know when he died because of the calendar which existed on the day he first appeared here (The date was circled with a red ink). He strongly believed it was the same day he died.

Apart from all that, he knew nothing else about himself. His family, surname, friends or how he died.

And he must say,

Right now, he was bored out of his mind!!!! He wanted someone to talk with! Someone to laugh with! But there was no one besides himself!

And like he said before, he hasn't seen or heard another voice besides the woman and himself. Once in a while, he would scream out like a crazy person just to keep his sanity.

Trap in this forsaken house with no one around besides himself, his sanity was definitely on line. That's if ghosts even had one.

*Sigh, he sighed again.

It wasn't like he hasn't heard voices of other people, he has. Just that, they were voices of people passing by and not coming into the house.

Life as a ghost was hard for him.

"Help!! Help!!" A sudden unfamiliar voice yelled out. Sounding terrified. Judging by the voice, it was that of a female.

Almost immediately, Hae Jin got up, looking around as if he heard the voice in the very room he was in but that wasn't so.

Was he hallucinating? Delusional? Was he finally losing his mind?

A voice, he just heard a voice! It could be someone passing by, even so, he couldn't help but be curious and anxious to find out. Whether he was imagining things or not

He didn't want to get his hopes up but it was out of his control. He could feel hope building up within himself.

"Help!!! Someone please!!" The voice came again, however, this time, Hae Jin could tell the person was around the house he was trapped in.

Determined, excited, eager and anxious to know who it was that was shouting out for help, Hae Jin rushed to the front door, thinking of going outside to see who it was and maybe help this person, totally forgetting he was trapped in the house and couldn't exit out.

Reaching the front door, this time, Hae Jin didn't get the chance to exit and got thrown back like a piece of trash because the door opened, shocking the hell out of him.

He watched as a beautiful young woman with long dark-black hair and brown eyes entered, closing the door as fast as she entered before facing it (The door), breathing heavily and still shaking in fear.

Hae Jin could only see her back profile now.

The woman wore a long flowery white dress and black shoes but Hae Jin wasn't paying attention to how she looked. He was more concerned about who she was.

Was she human? Or a ghost just like him? He really couldn't tell because there wasn't much of a difference judging by appearance. Gosh, he didn't know what to hope for.

For her to be a human? Or a ghost like himself?

What should he expect? Being human meant the woman would not be able to see him, touch him, hear him, however, being a ghost would be the opposite, right?

The woman sighed in relief, bringing Hae Jin back to reality. He watched her attentively as she began to relax, trying to get her breathing back to normal.

Succeeding, *Sigh, the woman sighed again in relief, "I'm glad I was able to get away. Or else I will........" She said the last words while turning around. Her words immediately cut off the moment she turned, facing Hae Jin.

And for a moment Hae Jin thought he met eyes with her.

She could see him? Deciding to confirm his belief, he asked, "You, you can see me, right?"

Hae Jin watched as the woman's eyes widened in shock and suddenly, she began to shake in fear once again but Hae Jin could care less.

He was happy, excited! For the first time in six years, trapped in this house, someone could see him!

Who was this woman? What was she? Human? Ghost?! Heavens knew how he now strongly hoped she was human.

If so, she would be the first human to see him. All these years of living as a ghost, she would be the first human to see him, hear him and even touch him.

If that was possible.

He hoped so.
