Heaven Refining physique

Chapter 5: Qi refinement realm

After sorting everything out, he checked the furnace in which he had completed his refinement. He didn't know if this was treasure or not, as Senior Hu Tian hadn't even mentioned it.

The furnace was bigger than him, resembling a large bowl with space at the bottom for igniting flames. Its shape made it clear that it was specifically designed for body refinement.

"Well, whatever it is, I'll store it in the ring for the time being," he thought, wanting to test the ring as well. He focused on the ring and willed it to absorb the furnace. He didn't even blink as the furnace disappeared from his sight.

"Amazing... " This was really an overwhelming experience for a person who was a mortal.

"Now let's peer inside and see what it contains."

The moment he willed it, his consciousness blurred, and his surroundings changed. He found himself in a pitch-black space with numerous items floating around. The furnace was there, along with two old books, a lot of herbs, and some stones. The stones must be the spirit stones Senior Hu Tian had mentioned, one of the books must be the heaven-grade cultivation technique.

He focused his attention on a single spirit stone and willed it to come out.

As he did, his consciousness blurred again, and the cave walls appeared in his view. A stone now rested in his palm. It was bluish-white and shone brightly.

This cave was quite deep in the mountains, and villagers don't come here. He decided that he could use it as a temporary base to cultivate to the first stage of the Qi Refinement realm.

Once he reached the first stage, he would easily be able to hunt any beasts in these mountains. Although, even without reaching the first stage, he doubted any beast here could match him.

After the refinement, he felt significantly stronger than before. He walked to the cave walls and punched them with moderate power.

Thuddddd...

As expected, his strength had exceeded his expectations.

He walked back to the center of the cave and began contemplating about how to reach stage 1 of qi refinement realm.

Senior Hu Tian had mentioned sensing the spirit qi in nature and trying to absorb it, if you are able to absorb a wisp of spirit qi then you would enter first stage of qi refinement. Even though he had spirit stones, he chose not to hold them in his hands to sense the qi. Instead, he put the spirit stone back into the ring and took out the heaven-grade cultivation technique.

The book was old and felt like touching an ancient piece of art. The title on the cover read Heavenly Lotus Sutra.

When he opened the book, he noticed some pages that were different from the others—it were notes left by Senior Hu Tian.

He read the notes carefully. It detailed how to start cultivation and what to avoid. It also mentioned that cultivators couldn't use spirit stones for cultivation because they contained chaotic and impure qi, which could damage the meridians.

After thoroughly reading the note, he understood what he needed to do to enter the first stage of the Qi Refinement realm.

Since he had a celestial physique, he wouldn't need the heaven-grade technique to start cultivating. He decided to learn it later.

Jiang Hao sat down and started to feel everything around him as mentioned in the notes. The air in the cave was damp and a little suffocating for him; it also felt much warmer than outside. He kept concentrating on the sensations he was experiencing from his surroundings.

Jiang Hao had always been praised by the villagers for being far more mature and intelligent than others his age. His personality was calm and serene, and he didn't get easily flustered, even in unavoidable situations he can maintain his calm state quite easily. In fact, when his mother was about to die, instead of panicking like any other 15-year-old boy, he took it upon himself to find a cure for her. He even risked his life venturing into the mountains, where any beast could have easily killed him.

His will is even more firm, He even made a promise that could have cost him his life but fulfilled it without regret. Even Hu Tian praised him for his firm will.

It was difficult to sense the spirit qi for the first time, but as he immersed himself in the sensations of his surroundings, he eventually lost track of time. Gradually, his body began glowing. Though he was lost in his thoughts, the moment his body started glowing, he felt a slight prickling sensation on his skin and immediately opened his eyes. However, he didn't lose his focus.

He could clearly see that his body was covered in a white glow. It wasn't intense; in fact, it was very faint and almost unnoticeable, but he could see and feel it clearly.

His body was absorbing the white glow that surrounded him, and he could sense it distinctly. When a cultivator is able to sense spirit qi, they must regulate their breathing according to their cultivation technique to absorb even a single wisp of qi. Once they succeed in absorbing it, they must circulate it according to their technique. If they succeed in this circulation, the spirit qi will continue entering their bodies as long as they can maintain the process.

But for Jiang Hao, it was different. He only needed to concentrate to sense the spirit qi. After that, his body was doing everything passively.

"So, this is why physiques are termed as cultivation techniques in themselves," he thought.

This meant that cultivation was extremely easy for anyone with a special physique. They only had to sense the spirit qi, unlike others who needed to both sense and circulate the qi according to their techniques.

He could already feel much stronger now that his body had started absorbing the spirit qi. This indicated that he had already entered the first stage of the Qi Refinement realm.

Finally, he had become an immortal in the eyes of the mortal world—the kind whom everyone in his village revered.

Looking outside the cave, he realized that only a couple of hours had passed. When he read the notes, he learned that even geniuses in the upper world typically required about ten days to start sensing qi. Only supreme geniuses could do it in a single day. Jiang Hao had been prepared to try every day until he could sense it, even if it took longer than ten days. To think he had managed it in just a couple of hours.

Sensing qi didn't depend on cultivation techniques or physiques; it depended on one's talent.

"To think my talent would be comparable to the supreme geniuses of the upper world," he mused.

Even though he thought this, he didn't let it go to his head. After all, cultivation speed didn't depend solely on how fast one could absorb qi from nature. It also depended heavily on the resources available.

In fact, resources were more important than anything else. However, that didn't mean talent was useless if one had abundant resources. There was a reason why every sect or faction sought to recruit talented cultivators.

First, talented individuals could cultivate secret skills and techniques much faster than anyone else, which defined a cultivator's combat power.

Second, only talented people could easily advance to higher realms. Without talent, even with countless resources, one might never take a single step forward.

This was all mentioned in the notes. Jiang Hao didn't fully understand it yet, but he knew he would find out when he reached certain levels.

One more thing he read was that once someone became a Qi Refinement cultivator, they wouldn't feel hungry unless they expended a large amount of qi, as their body nourished itself with qi.

However, cultivators still ate food, but it was different from regular food. It was prepared using spirit herbs and meat from spirit beasts. Such food helped with cultivation as well.

Since he had already said goodbye to his mother, he decided not to return to the village for the time being and to cultivate here instead. He also needed to figure out the specialty of his physique.

He already had a hunch about it, based on the name of his physique, and it was time to confirm whether he was right or wrong.

As the name suggested, this physique could even refine the heavens itself. Although he couldn't do that at the Qi Refinement realm, what about spirit herbs or spirit stones?

Normally, cultivators couldn't cultivate directly from spirit stones or herbs, but what about him?

Since his physique could refine anything, didn't that mean he could easily refine spirit herbs and spirit stones directly?

He wouldn't even need to create pills from the herbs—he could just consume them directly.

"There's no point in overthinking it. Let's just give it a try. If it works, great. If it doesn't, I can always follow the normal route of cultivation," he thought.

But deep down, he was confident it would work. After all, his physique was celestial grade—it wouldn't live up to its name if it couldn't refine these meager herbs and spirit stones.

He took out a spirit herb, it was red in colour, it leaves were big like lotus leaves and it felt warm to touch. He took out the other book inside his ring, he had already learned from the notes that this book contains information about all the herbs present in the ring, along with some information about famous spirit herbs.

He already had planned to read this book carefully later, knowledge is never too much. A highly knowledgeable person can easily avoid many calamities while a ignorant person might not even know how he died.

He opened the book and searched for the name of the herb in his hands, after a while he found out.

Its called Earth fire grass, it is used in the pills which are consumed by the core formation, that means it contains lot of qi and is unsafe to be used by a qi refinement realm.
