Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Problems?
James and Snape ignored Alfrina's dissuasion; they were already wrestling and rolling on the ground.
"None of your business, you brat," a strong Slytherin, who was watching from behind, said maliciously.
"Exactly, Alfrina," Sirius's eyes gleamed with a chuunibyo spirit, his fighting intent burning fiercely, "This is a battle for men!"
Men, my foot, Alfrina thought, looking at the two children, both under a hundred pounds and under five feet tall, wrestling on the ground.
"Black is right," Gary also agreed, "This is a contest between the valiant Gryffindor lions and the cunning Slytherin silver snakes. The energy they unleash is enough to break a quill."
He drew out his words, singing them out.
Both sides listened to Gary's words with great satisfaction, a proud expression on their faces, though something felt slightly off.
Remus Lupin was probably the calmest among them. "I'm sorry to have made you all laugh." He was pale, his body slightly hunched, looking somewhat listless. "James was just impulsive…"
"Oh, come on," Gary mercilessly exposed Lupin's cover-up, "James is always that impulsive."
"Don't talk as if you know James so well," Sirius frowned, looking at him with disgust.
Gary ignored him. He knew that Sirius was a contrarian. As long as you went against him, he would oppose you in every way, always finding something to argue about.
Continuing to argue with him was pointless.
"Let's go, Alfrina," Gary didn't want to get involved in this matter anymore; he felt James and his group were too childish. "My Potions essay isn't written yet, and it's due the day after tomorrow. I still have some questions about armadillo bile."
"No…" Alfrina wanted to state the real reason she had dragged him there, but at that moment, James and Snape's brawl had also reached a conclusion. James successfully pinned Snape to the ground, making him beg for mercy.
"Tell me, Snape, what were you three discussing in this classroom just now?" James had a cut above his eyebrow, whether from Snape's punch or hitting the ground earlier.
Alfrina lunged forward and kicked Snape in the waist.
"Avery, Mulciber!" Snape cried out in pain, quickly calling for his companions.
Those two Slytherin students had been watching from the sidelines since Snape and James started fighting. It wasn't that they didn't want to help, but there were too many opponents.
Alfrina seized the opportunity and kicked Snape again. "That's for looking down on people!" she said fiercely.
Peter, standing nearby, also kicked Snape while he was down, taking advantage of the chaos. He had tied his hair back into a braid today, and combined with his height, he looked like a little girl from behind.
She had wanted to get revenge on Snape for a while. His sour, disdainful expression always angered her, especially after she had helped him once and he hadn't even shown gratitude.
"Avery, I advise you to take your good brother and leave quickly," Sirius said with a fierce look. "It's really curious, weren't you two looking down on half-bloods before? How did you end up hanging out with Snivellus?"
Snape was definitely a half-blood; Gary and the others had never heard of a Pure-blood family named Snape.
Avery and Mulciber thought about it and felt that if they didn't run now, they wouldn't have a chance later.
The two opened the back door of the classroom and scurried away.
"Now it's just you, Snivellus." James wiped his eye, removing the bloodstain.
"Tell us, Mr. Snape," Lupin said gently, "What were you discussing when we just entered the classroom?"
"…" Snape pursed his lips, not saying a word.
"Dare to say it but not admit it?" James chuckled in anger. "Fine, if you won't say it, I'll say it for you."
"You and those two idiots were saying you wanted to teach that fat guy, Howard White, a lesson, right?" James tugged at Snape's robes, shaking him continuously.
Snape remained silent.
"What else? I only heard half before I burst in…" James said angrily, "You Slytherins are still plotting to teach the Hogwarts Muggle-borns a lesson, aren't you?!"
Snape's reaction suddenly became much more violent. He tried to break free from James's control, but failed. Peter held down his legs from the side.
"No!" Snape shouted, "I didn't! They were the ones who wanted to do it!"
"You've only been in Slytherin for three months," Sirius said with a hint of disdain in his voice, "and you're already being brainwashed by the Pure-blood rhetoric of those madmen in Slytherin."
"I'm not!" Snape shrieked, his eyes wide with anger, expressing his inner fury. "I really didn't say that!"
But no one trusted him now. Everyone present believed Snape was a blood supremacist.
James suddenly pulled out his wand and yelled at Snape, "Tarantallegra!"
Snape's legs began to twitch and flail uncontrollably, startling Peter next to him.
"Snivellus," James said, "If you dare to lay a hand on them, I will never let you off!"
The six decided to leave. Before leaving, Alfrina kicked Snape again. She was also a Muggle-born, naturally one of the targets of these Slytherins. If she and James hadn't accidentally overheard their conspiracy, she wouldn't have known how she would have been treated.
She hated ungrateful people the most and deeply regretted that helping him earlier was a moment of foolishness.
Sirius stepped over Snape's head, looking down at him with a contemptuous gaze.
Gary took out his wand, looking at Snape's legs twitching wildly on the ground. "This is just a small punishment, Snape. Petrificus Totalus."
He watched Snape lie on the ground like a statue, then calmly walked out of the classroom and closed the door.
"You just left him in there?" Peter seemed a little scared.
"It's fine. He'll be able to walk out on his own once the Petrificus Totalus wears off," Gary said indifferently.
"Gary, did I just do you guys a big favor?" As the group walked towards the Great Hall, James asked excitedly.
"Of course, James. It's a good thing you guys overheard their conspiracy, otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable." Gary thought about Howard's appearance and shuddered with fear. What would happen to such a naive, chubby kid if he fell into their hands?
"James, what if Snape retaliates against us?" Peter said timidly, raising his watery, big eyes to look at James, a pair of beautiful big eyes…
"Don't worry, there are more of us." Sirius always took good care of his younger brother. He put his arm on Peter's shoulder to reassure him.
"Exactly, Gary, Alfrina," James said seriously, "We should stick together and be wary of Slytherin's actions."
