Harry Potter: The Dark ages

Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Stop Fighting!

As Christmas approached, the Ravenclaw quartet study group gathered again in the Library on the second floor of the Castle, planning to hold their last meeting before Christmas.

"Hmm… a week from now is the full moon," Kona had a star chart in front of her, which was Howard's Christmas assignment. "Is Hogsmeade going to be haunted again?"

Alfrina was transferring text from "History of Magic" onto parchment. Hearing Kona's words, she also looked up. "Nance said that when he went to Hogsmeade last time, the villagers were all saying that every full moon night, ghostly wails would come from an abandoned house. I wonder if Mr. Ghost has a Christmas holiday."

Howard took a bite of apple pie, savored it for a moment, then wrote "Apple Pie Serving Suggestion: Recommend adding half a pint of milk" on the parchment.

"I heard from upper-year students that it wasn't haunted last year. Could it be that Mr. Ghost just moved into a new home?" Gary quipped, as he was finishing up his Charms essay.

"Whack!" Howard's back of the head was hit, and he cried out in pain, drawing the attention of all the students in the Library.

"No snacks allowed in the Library!" It was Pince. Her usually rosy and radiant face was now dark with anger, and her eyebrows were raised high.

"Sorry, Pince!" Howard quickly apologized, but it was too late. Pince, carrying a feather duster, chased all four of them out of the Library.

"Bang," the Library door closed tightly in front of them. The four little Eagles didn't mind, giggling as they packed their bags and prepared to return to their common room.

As Christmas approached, the pressure everyone felt from their heavy coursework suddenly lessened, and they all started thinking about how to have fun when they went home.

Gary also missed his parents. His father, George, had been transferred back to Britain, so they no longer had to save money for magic stabilizer, and his parents' lives had become more comfortable. Recently, the pocket money his mother sent had also increased.

"Hey Gary, look ahead, what are they doing?" Al, who was again in the lead, lowered her voice.

The Library is on the east side of the second floor of the Castle, and the entrance to Ravenclaw Tower is on the west side of the sixth floor of the Castle. They first walked along the second-floor corridor to the east, and then went upstairs.

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon. Most students were outside the Castle watching the Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw match. Most of the students remaining in the Castle were in the Library and common rooms.

The other three heard Al's words and poked their heads out from around the corner of the corridor.

In the second-floor corridor, three students were dueling.

Actually, it was one against two. From Gary's perspective, the black-haired boy hit one of his opponents with a swift, fierce spell, and that person stumbled and sat on the ground.

Then he was hit by the other opponent's spell, falling backward, while the person who had been hit by the spell grabbed his accomplice's hand and stood up again.

"Should we help?" Kona whispered. They were about thirty meters away and couldn't see who it was, but two against one was clearly unfair.

"Of course we should help," Al pulled out her wand. "Are we just going to stand by and watch them bully someone?"

Al was gradually becoming the core and leader of the quartet. Kona and Howard had little opinion, and Gary was too lazy to express any, so Al basically made all the decisions for the team.

"Remember to hold your bag in front of you; it can block curses," Gary suggested.

The four of them put their school bags over their chests and stomachs and jumped out.

"Petrificus Totalus!" Al cast the spell as she walked forward. The red light went off course, hitting a suit of armor next to the corridor, making a deafening sound.

Hearing the sound, the two glanced over here. Seeing the large number of people, they knew they were outmatched and quickly ran downstairs, disappearing at the end of the corridor.

The four of them pretended to chase for a couple of steps and then gave up.

When they reached the boy lying on the ground, they realized it was Snape.

He was extremely disheveled now. His hooked nose was broken, and blood stained his black robes, making the color even deeper.

There was a large lump on his forehead, and one foot was still twitching on the ground. Gary knew it was caused by the curse he had taken earlier.

"Are you alright?" Kona crouched down and asked with concern.

Snape glared fiercely at Kona. "None of your business." He pushed away Kona's outstretched hand and struggled to stand up himself.

"Oh," Howard still remembered Snape mocking him earlier. Now, seeing Snape reject their good intentions, he seized the opportunity to mock him back. "How did someone who only knows how to eat get chased and beaten?"

As he spoke, he wiggled his chubby body, his eyebrows furrowed, and he even imitated Snape's disdainful tone. Gary, watching from the side, couldn't help but want to beat Howard up; he was truly too obnoxious.

"You..." Snape's face turned beet red. He picked up his wand, which had fallen to the ground, cast a stop-curse on his still-twitching leg, glared at them, and then ran off.

"Ho ho ho, truly a strong person who only knows how to eat," Howard said sarcastically.

...

"Gary!" In the biting cold of December, most Ravenclaw students chose to huddle in the common room, warming their chilled bodies by the fireplace. Gary had just finished writing his History of Magic essay for the Christmas holiday when Al burst in from the common room entrance.

"Come with me, come with me." Al reached out to pull Gary.

"What's wrong?" Gary was confused. He tucked his Transfiguration essay into his pocket and put it away. Al pulled him along at a trot, and they ran downstairs as soon as they exited the door.

"No time to explain, keep up!" Al let go of his hand and bounded down the stairs two steps at a time, her short legs taking incredibly wide strides, making Gary's heart pound.

Gary followed Alfrina and only slowed down when they reached the third-floor corridor.

"This way!" Al was panting, her golden hair at her temples sticking to her fair face with sweat. She pointed to an abandoned empty classroom.

Actually, she didn't need to say anything; Gary could hear the sounds of arguing coming from that classroom from far away.

When the two rushed into the classroom, two groups of people were already standing at the front and back of the classroom, facing each other from a distance. The atmosphere was extremely tense, and a major battle was on the verge of breaking out.

This was a grand war between children around one and a half meters tall. One side was the Gryffindor quartet led by James, and the other side was Snape and two Slytherin boys.

It was not good. Gary and Al entering the classroom was like lighting a fuse. James rushed down from the podium, and Snape also rushed up from the back of the classroom.

The two got into a brawl. Al quickly went to break them up, "Stop it, you two, stop it, don't fight anymore, please stop fighting."
