Harry Potter: Becoming a Study God

Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Battle Royale Game Part 2

Wade tapped a nearby pumpkin leaf with his wand and turned it into a brass bell.

He gave the bell a couple of taps, grabbing everyone's attention.

"Alright, let's go over the rules."

"For this first round, we'll keep the rules simple."

"Everyone will split into two teams. Fred, Harry, and I are the Black Team, responsible for hunting."

"The rest of you are the White Team. You can run, hide, or even fight back."

"Hagrid will be the referee."

"The game will last for thirty minutes. When the whistle blows, you'll have one minute to hide or prepare. After one minute, the Black Team will begin the 'hunt.'"

"If there's even one person from the White Team left standing after thirty minutes, the Black Team loses; if no one from the White Team survives, the Black Team wins!"

"The rules are as follows: no Dark Curses, no use of magical items beyond wands, and anyone hit by a spell is considered 'dead.' A 'corpse' cannot provide any form of assistance to teammates."

"Any team breaking the rules will immediately be considered defeated."

"Is everything clear?"

Everyone nodded. Fred whistled, "Let's get started! I've been waiting for this!"

Hagrid had already moved a large stone nearby and climbed on top of it to get a good view of the entire field.

"Alright, kids, are you ready?"

"Ready!"

The young wizards, who had already split into two teams, raised their wands and shouted eagerly. Even Hermione and Padma couldn't help but join in with a cheer.

"Good." Hagrid grinned, put the whistle to his mouth, and blew hard!

"Phweeeeoo—"

A sharp, clear whistle sounded, and the White Team members immediately darted in different directions, weaving between the pumpkins.

They'd already formed their own strategies for hiding or counter attacking in the few minutes they had before.

Hagrid watched his stopwatch intently. After one minute, he blew the whistle once more.

"Black Team, go!"

However, the three members of the Black Team didn't move out immediately.

Wade and Harry quickly cast the Shield Charm on themselves. Fred exclaimed, "Wow! Shield Charm... I haven't learned that yet!"

"Need a hand?" Wade offered and pointed his wand at Fred.

"Thanks." Fred replied. After Wade cast the Shield Charm on him, Fred looked down at himself and asked, "This feels a bit different from the standard Shield Charm, doesn't it?"

"Wade's Shield Charm lasts about ten minutes," Harry explained. "The usual charm only holds up against two or three hits."

"Got it." Fred nodded. He glanced at the tall pumpkin beside him and asked, "Are we allowed to climb on top of this?"

Wade responded, "If there's no rule against it, go ahead."

With that, Fred climbed up.

"Want to come along?" Wade asked Harry.

Harry shook his head. "We only have thirty minutes, so splitting up will speed things up... I don't want to lose."

"Alright, good luck."

Without wasting time, Wade chose a direction and started walking, while Harry took another narrow path.

The surroundings were very quiet.

The tall pumpkins stood like small huts, and their leafy vines were crisscrossing the ground, almost like invisible traps woven into the undergrowth. And a faint scent of plants filled the air.

Harry was determined to win, and so was Wade. Even though their opponents were fellow students, Wade was ready to give his best.

Wade tapped his wand lightly on his head, and his body instantly blended with the surroundings, camouflaging like a chameleon among the pumpkins. He pointed his wand at his feet, and even the faint sound of his footsteps vanished.

As he moved along the winding path, it took only a few minutes before he heard the sound of hurried breathing and caught a faint whiff of perfume.

Padma was hiding behind a pumpkin, clutching her wand in her right hand and occasionally peeking around to see if anyone was approaching.

She didn't notice the wand right in front of her—until a sudden red light filled her vision!

Bang!

Her thin, invisible shield shattered like a soap bubble. And she was struck by the spell and collapsed to the ground.

Just before losing consciousness, she thought angrily and in confusion, "Why couldn't I see anyone?"

...

"Just half an hour... I only need to hold on for half an hour!" Hermione muttered to herself as she quickly moved several pumpkins together to form a makeshift barrier.

Then she pulled a few vines together, peering through a gap to keep watch. Whoever passed by would be met with a preemptive strike from her, giving her the upper hand!

"Petrificus Totalus!" (Full Body-Bind Curse)

As Hermione heard Fred muttering the spell, the Full Body-Bind Curse came crashing down on her!

She turned around in shock, and as she fell like a statue, she saw Fred crouching on top of a pumpkin and grinning widely.

"When the pumpkins are clustered this close, it's pretty obvious from above, Hermione!"

"Petrificus Totalus!"

Another Full Body-Bind Curse flew from the side, hitting Fred this time.

George jumped out to look at his brother and was about to celebrate his victory when he, too, was hit by a spell.

"Good thing I have the Shield Charm," Fred muttered and then plucked two leaves to place over George's surprised eyes.

"You're officially a corpse now, bro," he said smugly and stood up to continue "hunting."

"Stupefy!" (Stunning Spell)

Two or three spells flew in from the side simultaneously, shattering his Shield Charm with a pop, and Fred collapsed next to his brother in the exact same position.

With only his eyes able to move, George cheerfully blinked.

"Sorry, we can't lift the spell on you just yet," Theo said apologetically, then immediately dashed off in another direction.

He, Michael, Neville, and Ryan had initially split up but quickly regrouped.

"With fewer people on the Black Team and more on the White Team, Wade must be underestimating our skills!" Michael said sternly. "We've got to teach them a lesson so we can be on the Black Team next time!"

The other three nodded seriously. No matter how good friends they were normally, now they were opponents!

...

Hearing the commotion from another direction, Harry realized he'd been searching the wrong way.

He listened carefully, then crouched down and moved swiftly toward the other direction.

As he rounded a pumpkin, he suddenly came face to face with Ryan.

Ryan, who had been setting up a trap with Michael, paused before shouting loudly, "He's here!"

Harry didn't know he could react so quickly.

Without conscious thought, his hands and feet moved on their own—

"Expelliarmus!" (Disarming Charm)

Ryan's wand flew out of his hand.

Two spells streaked toward him, and as Harry dodged, he tripped on a vine but rolled with the fall, firing off spells even before getting up!

"Stupefy! Stupefy! Stupefy!" (Stunning Spell)

The lights from his spells shot out, one flying into the air, one hitting a pumpkin and bouncing back onto Theo, and the third striking Neville.

"Flank him!"

Michael shouted, as he and Ryan closed in from both sides!
