Chapter 276: House
The same night, Keith got his hair trimmed and beard shaved off before he teleported to Arthur's mansion.
There were just a few servants and some knights, one of them being the one that he picked as a checkpoint to teleport.
He popped up out of nowhere and the maid screamed shrilly, prompting multiple people to rush over to see what was going on. But when they saw Keith beside her, they went back to do their things.
Though, Keith saw one exception. One of the knights that had seen him, did not go back and instead walked towards him.
"Sir, no one is supposed to be here right now. And Sir Arthur told me to keep this place safe. I request you to leave the premises before I'm forced to take action." he said righteously.
Keith stared at him for a few seconds and smiled, "Great, you're doing a good job. But let's see…" he said and snapped his fingers.
Arthur fell to the floor, his buttocks hitting the hard wood below as he looked up at Keith in anger.
"What in the hell!"
"It's nothing, just wanted to ask your permission to you know… stay here for a bit." Keith said and Arthur waved his hand, the frustration still clear on his face, "Yeah do whatever you want, it's your house as much as it's mine."
Keith nodded with a grin and sent him back to where he was before turning to look at the knight, "Keep up the good work. No actually, I have a better task for you. Follow me."
The surprised knight did as he was told and after walking for almost a minute, Keith came to a stop in front of a door.
He pointed at it and said, "You'll be responsible for the girl inside here. No matter what happens, it's your job to keep her safe okay? No one other than me, Arthur, Adrian, Amelia and Clara should be allowed inside. At least until this war ends."
"As you wish, my lord." the knight said and immediately stood in attention right beside the door.
Keith stared at him for a few more seconds before nodding to himself and sent a system seed into him. Then, just as he was about to knock on the door, it opened and a slightly taller Miya jumped up before punching him hard in his stomach.
"Ooof, is this how you greet me when I come back after months?" he said, acting like he had been hurt real bad. He crouched down as he held his stomach while he saw Miya hesitate slightly with a frown on her face.
Just as she was about to blame herself mentally, he grabbed her and began to tickle her like there was no tomorrow. She laughed hard and Keith only stopped when she kicked him right in the face.
"Phew, that was one hell of a mean kick." he said with a grin on his face while Miya wiped off her tears.
"I hate you… dad."
Keith raised his eyebrow at her, "No more papa?"
Miya pursed her lips thin as she stared at him and then said, "Everyone else calls their… papas as dad."
"Ah I see…" Keith said and then walked into her room, "It's fine, you can call me papa. There's nothing wrong with that."
Miya walked in behind him and closed the door before she ran over to her bed which was now almost completely filled with dolls. On the table beside her bed, were multiple pots that had plants.
"No. Dad." she said and tossed the blanket over her head to cover herself. With her her face visible, she looked pretty adorable and Keith couldn't help but smile.
He nodded and sat down on the floor, "Well, if that's what you wanna call me then that's okay I guess. Though, I'll need some time to get used to it."
Miya then grinned before her hand came out of the sheets and she pointed at him, "Let me show you something." she said and then all of a sudden the plants that were on her table began to grow before shooting towards Keith.
Keith expected them to tie him up and stuff, but they simply nuzzled against his cheek instead.
Caught off-guard with the uncharacteristic display, he looked at Miya and reminded himself that it was her who was controlling these plants.
He then grinned at her and gave her a thumbs up, "That's pretty impressive. What else can you do?"
"I can make them do….." she said and scrunched up her face in concentration as multiple flowers began to bloom along the length of the plants. Meanwhile the regular grass began to split and grow before they went in and out of each other.
They slowly formed a large cloak and Keith could help but feel impressed.
"Such great control…" he praised in awe and the cloak just fell to the ground as the grass cut themselves.
Keith looked at the clock that was on the ground and then at Miya before asking, "Should I wear it?"
She nodded.
Seeing this, he too nodded and put it on. There was only one thing he could describe it with; uncomfortable.
The grass blades cut into his skin and cloak itself was pretty cold. Over all, it wasn't a great experience but Keith still kept it on.
"Wait…" he muttered and checked her status info as he knew that her awakened ability was far too different compared to the one he had read from the novel.
Name: Miya Zenister
Physique: Grade E
Genetic Physique Type: Endurance
Awakening Status: Awakened
Awakened Ability:
The World's Child: User can communicate with the world itself and can receive help in various forms.
'It didn't change so how….' he thought and then looked up at Miya, "Miya, how do you make them move?"
She tilted her head slightly, not understanding why he was asking such a simple question.
"I just talk to them and they do what I say." she said and then added, "They can read my mind too so I don't have to talk to them loudly."
Then she hesitated for a second before adding, "Umm… the winds told me that you… were in the seas and almost died in a storm. Then, you fought against a huge monster thing that has multiple hands." she said, trying to recall everything she had "heard".
Keith stared at her silently as he listened but once she stopped talking, he sighed.
"So you knew huh?" he said softly as he walked over to her bed and sat down beside her.
Miya nodded, "Yeah… but pa- I mean dad, do you really have to go? Can't you just stay her with me?"
Keith did not look at her and just stared at the floor below. The silence in the room felt stifling, but Keith new that he had to think to find the right words, so he took his time.
"You see…" he began and then sighed, "I don't really want to go either. I'd always pick spending time with our family but sometimes… it's just that I have no other choice. There's this big bad guy who wants to take over the world and he looks like me.
And from what I know, he wants to come here and cause harm to people. I'm technically among the strongest on this continent so it's my responsibility to make sure that he doesn't come here."
"Is it the guy who smells like rotten eggs?" Miya suddenly asked and Keith looked at her with an alarmed expression on his face.
"Did you meet him?" he whispered but it was still loud. The tone in his voice frightened the girl, but she didn't react much other than flinching slightly.
She shook her head and said, "No… the winds told me."
The fear in Keith's eyes quickly left and he sighed, "Oh.. Okay." he muttered and then jerked up again to look at Miya, "Can you tell me more? About what he's doing and where he is?"
Miya nodded, "Okay…" she said softly and closed her eyes.
Keith patiently waited but he didn't just sit still. Instead, he decided to talk to Emma instead.
'Can't you check up on him? Like… this whole fucking universe is yours.'
[By universe, it just means this damn planet. There's nothing outside, just one sun and a moon. The universe's structure depends on my writing and the so-called world building did not consist of a solar system you know?]
[Anyways, I could have checked where he was and what not if I didn't have more than 99% of my powers out in work to keep my clone sealed up.]
'Oh well… You did it for the best…' he thought and saw Miya open her eyes.
"He's simply sitting inside an ice cave. He doesn't have a body and is trying to regenerate it completely but… there are a lot of thing.. Uhh skeletons, weird looking humans, spiders, dogs, horses, knights… and many more things." she said and then closed her eyes once again.
This time, she didn't take too long.
She opened her eyes once again and frowned, "They're building something. Umm… a tower? That's what the winds told me."
"Can winds really travel that fast?"
Miya shrugged, "I don't know. If I ask something, I get an answer in a few seconds or minutes. And since there's nothing around me but air, I think I am talking to the winds."
[She's communicating with the world itself, not the winds. But I guess it's fine to let her find that out on her own.]
Keith nodded mentally but smiled at Miya, "So, since I'm back after so long… wanna play house?"
"But… papa doesn't like house." she said, forgetting about her pledge to call him dad.
