God of Systems: Maker of Heroes and Villains

Chapter 275: Back Home, Temporarily

The journey couldn't be said to be smooth, but the boat withstood the toughest of storms although all the shaking prompted Keith to forcefully empty his stomach through his mouth.

After a few months, Keith looked ahead and saw an island before smiling. His beard had grown, making him look pretty wild and on top of that, his eyes seemed to have lost their luster. making them look dull.

"Finally…" he said, talking to no one but himself as he stared at the large island, "Hey, can I rest here for a bit? I know that time is of importance but I think that I'm going to go crazy if this continues."

In the recent days, Emma had been ignoring him mostly but to his surprise he did get a response this time.

[Okay, and feel free to take a week's break if you want. You've worked hard.]

Keith blinked twice and then rubbed his eyes to take another look at the system screen to make sure that he wasn't hallucinating.

And he wasn't. Yet, he didn't smile or grin this time. He silently stared at the system screen and nodded as he tried to push Emma for more.

"Can I-"

[One week, feel free to do ANYTHING. Just one week.]

This time, the corners of Keith's lips twitched upwards.

He didn't say anything back to Emma, and instead brought his trusted aides out.

Gerald, Alpha and Beta.

Keith looked at them for a few seconds in silence before shaking his head. A second later, Ken dropped to the sand in front of Keith and looked around.

"Where did you bring me this time?"

Keith looked down at Ken and then he looked around at his surroundings. The ocean made him feel sick, but the sandy beach, that was a different case in itself.

For a strange reason, he felt better as his feet moved and he felt the texture of something other than cold steel.

"Stay here for a week. I'll send you food but consider this as your regular training routine. The only difference is that you might have to…" he said and looked at his system screen.

'Information on this island.'

[Population includes small animals, insects, snakes, birds and plants. None of them being too dangerous to human life apart from the green tree snake.]

Keith nodded to himself mentally and continued as he looked a this men, "The only difference is that you guys might have to stay away from some dangerous snakes. I'll come back after a week."

Before anyone and in this case, Ken could speak, Keith was gone.

He appeared right in front of Mathew who was in the middle of an important meeting inside a tent.

"Keith!" the prince exclaimed even before he saw the face but when he did look up at his face, he was flabbergasted.

"What? Where? I mean, what in the hell happened to you?"

Keith didn't answer the question and instead, looked at the other men inside the tent.

"Looks like the alliance wasn't formed. What happened to the succession?" he asked, his voice soft as he shifted his attention back to Mathew.

The third prince looked at Keith and felt this mysterious urge to just… speak.

"Postponed. We're at the last stage of our war against Baroma but the situation has changed. There's so much that I should fill you in with and gosh…"

Keith looked like he was ignoring Mathew as his eyes were focused on the map that was on the table. He snapped his fingers and sat down on the chair that appeared.

"No need, I was the one behind the disappearance of most of the gold, silver and also iron in the Baroma Kingdom." he said and scratched his beard as he pointed at a location on the map.

"Make sure you get this area. Also, once the war against Baroma ends, I want my promised five thousand men. There's stuff going on that I can't really explain to you so don't bother asking where I was or what I was doing."

Keith then got up from his chair and sighed, wondering why he brought his chair out when he was going to leave this soon anyways. He shook his head and send the chair back into his spatial dimension as he walked out.

He took a deep breath, feeling a sense of warmth as he looked at the huge wall in front of him.

"So they build these walls huh? Nah, these were present even before the whole war thing began. I really should have been checking what was going on in here during the past few months." he muttered to himself as he checked where his family was.

A few seconds later, he turned to the left and walked towards a group of tents that were pitched pretty close to each other and headed over to one of the larger ones.

The tent's entrance was open, so he bent down slightly and peered inside.

His whole team was sitting inside, but there was one new face. A small human being who was currently in Nathan's hand. Miya was nowhere to be seen, but Keith knew that she was safe in Arthur's mansion.

None of them seemed to have noticed him, so he coughed slightly which ended up in a failure as no sound came out.

Then he sighed and walked inside. This time, everyone's heads turned towards him and every single person in here took slightly more than a second to recognise him.

"Hey guys, long time no-" he said but before he could finish, Clara tackled him onto the ground.

Keith also saw Amelia walk towards him with a frown on her face while he hugged Clara back. The warmth of human touch, after more than almost half a year was a bit much for Keith to get used to.

He felt his eyes go blurry but he shook his tears off before focusing on Amelia who looked like she was also fighting her own internal battle.

She suddenly shut her eyes and jerked her head to the right, making the tears fly outwards randomly as she spoke, "Where in the hell did you go? You said you wanted to take a break but this? You call this a break?"

Keith wanted to just tell them about Emma's deal but contrary to his thoughts, he said something completely different.

"You said you wanted space and time to think. I thought I'd give you exactly what you wanted so I went to take care of other things." he said and felt Clara shake in his embrace as she tried her best to muffle her sobs by burying her face into Keith's chest.

Amelia's breathing turned quicker as she looked down at Keith. This was the first time she felt this angry. So much anger that she felt like stabbing Keith multiple times but for some reason, this just triggered something else.

Tears began to stream down her face and before Keith could realise what was going on, she was out of the tent, running to who knew where.

Keith felt weird. Talking to people in sensitive situations without reading their thoughts was something he wasn't used to but he still did it because that was what they wanted and yet, she was now angry at him.

He sighed and just relaxed. His hands fell to his side on the ground and sensing this, Clara let go of him.

She sat back up, but she was still on top of him, sitting right on top of his torso but he seemed to have no problem with her there.

"If I knew things would go this way, I probably wouldn't have come back. She and even you, didn't want me to…" he said and then looked at the others in the tent before smiling at them, "Can I talk to her alone, please?"

Nathan nodded and immediately rushed out of the tent while Caleb and Laura followed. Keith turned his attention back to Clara, "You guys don't want me to read your minds and I didn't do it today. And now she's angry for god knows what..."

Clara wiped her tears and placed her finger on his lips before shaking her head, "Don't speak. I'm glad that you came back and she's just… well, she's just… as distressed as me and doesn't know how to express her feelings. Just like you."

She then leaned forward and pressed her lips over his as her fingers ran through his beard.

"You can read my mind." she whispered right into his mouth and then pulled back slightly, "Anytime, anywhere. Same thing with Amelia. Can you just… tell me what you've been doing for the past few months please? I'm…"

"Worried?" Keith said as a he stared right into her eyes and Clara saw it, the familiar glint in his eyes. The same one that he had before he ran away from her temporarily.

She felt much better as she looked at him and couldn't help but smile widely as her face turned a bright shade of red.

"You know, thanks to you… I've been very pent up. So you must play with me~ and Amelia~" she whispered into his ears as she pressed her ample chest against his.

Keith laid silently on the ground as looped his arms around her waist, "Who's gonna call her back here though?" he asked and Clara nibbled on his ear and giggled, "Just bring her here. I know you can."

"But what if she-" he began, but was quickly cut off by her.

She smiled and wiped away her tears before speaking, "Just do it, you can read her mind can't you? Don't tell me there's anything else in that brain of hers other than wanting to embrace you right now."
