Game Of Thrones : Merchant of Two Worlds

Chapter 104: 104. This man is a real dog

Lin Xiao felt a rush of heat in her face as she slapped the table in feigned anger. "What nonsense! We have nothing to do with each other, so stop talking like that!"

"Hey, come on, Lin Xiaohan! You can't seriously think our boss doesn't treat you differently?" Jiang Chuchu chimed in, leaning closer with a conspiratorial grin. "If you don't make a move, trust me, this straight-laced boss of ours will get swept away by other women who know how to charm him. Then you'll have nowhere to turn when you realize what you've lost."

"Where else can I find such a rich, handsome straight man who's still single?" Lin Xiaohan said with a hint of desperation.

"Stop being scared and just agree to join the company! You have to seize the opportunity!" Jiang Chuchu teased, clearly enjoying the banter. "Honestly, I can't believe you're letting this golden chance slip through your fingers!"

Lin Xiaohan's face flushed at the implication, but she found herself contemplating Jiang's words. "If you think he's so great, then go for it!" she shot back playfully.

"Oh, you think I don't want to?" Jiang Chuchu rolled her eyes dramatically, casting a glance across the table. "But if it wasn't for this dense man not even noticing my charms, I'd be making moves already. Just wait until tonight—if he keeps this up, I'll show him what he's missing!"

As their playful conversation continued, Lin Xiaohan, who has never really experienced love before, felt embarrassed.

Across the table, Jason Liu sat with his stomach full, wishing he could just end the meal and head home for a shower and some sleep. However, watching the two girls chat excitedly, he didn't have the heart to interrupt them, so he sat back, feeling somewhat awkward and bored.

In his mind, he started thinking that he could let Jiang Chuchu handle employee recruitment for his company, considering her as his first hire. Recruiting a salesgirl to handle both sales and administration tasks seemed perfect; after all, it's always better when one person can do multiple jobs!

This would be a good test for his new employee—after all, it was only fair.

"I'm so clever!" he thought to himself, feeling quite pleased with his plan.

Twenty minutes passed as Jason watched the two girls animatedly chatting. Finally, he couldn't hold back anymore. "Cough, um, what are you talking about?" he asked, trying to break into their conversation.

Lin Xiaohan turned to him, her cheeks flushed and her eyes shimmering. "What's wrong?"

"Are you really interested in girl talk, boss?" Jiang Chuchu asked with a smirk, her arm draped over Lin Xiaohan's shoulder.

Jason Liu rubbed his nose awkwardly and smiled. "I wasn't trying to eavesdrop… I noticed you ate a steak, and I didn't have much of mine left. I just wanted to check if you were full?"

Lin Xiaohan instinctively touched her flat stomach and said, "I'm full! I didn't want to eat too much tonight; I've already had plenty today!"

Jiang Chuchu looked at her empty plate and rubbed her slightly bulging belly. "I'm full too!" she declared, though her intention had been to eat off Lin Xiaohan's plate.

"What are you still doing here if you're both full? Let's get out of here!" Jason Liu said, feeling slightly frustrated. "I'll pay the bill first!"

After he said this, he pushed his chair back and walked to the counter to settle the bill.

The two girls exchanged glances, bewildered.

"Is he really in such a hurry to leave? He has two beautiful girls right here, and he's not taking advantage of it?"

They both thought at the same time, exchanging looks that spoke volumes about their shared amusement at Jason Liu's obliviousness.

"Xiaohan, I take back my advice. You should reconsider going after a guy like him. I'm worried that even you won't be able to break through that tough exterior!" Jiang Chuchu said with a laugh.

Lin Xiaohan grinned. "So, are you done flattering your boss now?"

"Let's hurry up," Jiang Chuchu urged, pulling Lin Xiaohan to her feet. "If we take too long, he might find an excuse to sneak out on us and leave us here!"

"Is it really that serious? Jason Liu seems like a straightforward guy, but can he really be that oblivious?" Lin Xiaohan wondered, her eyes wide with disbelief.

"Honestly, with this kind of attitude, I bet he'll remain single for life!" Jiang Chuchu joked.

Just then, something surprising happened that left Lin Xiaohan stunned. Jason Liu paid the bill at the front desk and called Lin Xiaohan, saying he forgot to turn off the faucet at home and needed to leave early, asking them to head home without him.

Lin Xiaohan hung up the phone, her expression blank as she turned to stare at Jiang Chuchu, not saying a word but shooting her a piercing look.

"What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that? What did Boss Liu say on the phone?" Jiang Chuchu asked, stepping back, confused.

Lin Xiaohan shifted her gaze away, staring up at the restaurant's ceiling as she spoke in disbelief. "Forget what I just said. Your boss really is something else! I wish him a lifetime of being single!"

Jiang Chuchu's eyes widened in shock. "Could it be…?"

Lin Xiaohan grabbed her bag and walked out of the restaurant, explaining everything that had just happened on the call.

By the time they stepped outside, Jiang Chuchu finally grasped the situation.

To sum it up, she realized her new boss had genuinely found an excuse to leave and slip away without them!

"I—" If it hadn't been for her desire to maintain her image, Jiang Chuchu would have let loose with a string of curses at his insensitivity.

Lin Xiaohan, feeling equally exasperated, couldn't help but think how lucky she was to have met such a clueless man.

"No way, I can't let this slide!" Jiang Chuchu said, feeling her anger bubble up. She quickly grabbed her phone and called Jason Liu, ready to unleash her frustration on him for being such a hopeless single dog!

Beep—

Jason Liu, driving home, noticed the phone ringing. He glanced at the caller ID and saw it was Jiang Chuchu. Feeling a twinge of guilt, he hesitated to answer.

However, the phone continued ringing insistently as if it would go on forever unless he picked it up.

Resigned, Jason pulled over and answered the call, determined to appear unfazed.

"Jiang Chuchu, remember to come to the company early tomorrow! You're officially an employee now, so you need to buy all the office supplies right away and prepare for recruitment. I'll check in tomorrow to see how everything is going!"

"New employees need to have a good work attitude, understand? I can't talk now; I'm driving. See you tomorrow!"

With that, Jason Liu hung up quickly, feeling a bit victorious as he silenced her complaints.

This maneuver was so swift and smooth that it was practically a masterclass in avoiding confrontation!
