Chapter 7: Chapter 6 Scientific diagnosis
Dr. Lin takes Ethan back to her makeshift lab on the edge of the village. Elena was always there, watching Ethan's every move with concern. Dr. Lin's lab was well equipped, and it was clear that she was well prepared.
"Ethan, please lie down on this bed, close your eyes, and try to relax," Dr. Lin said gently, her gaze still calm and firm.
Ethan was instructed to lie down, close his eyes and try to relax himself. But his heart was still filled with unease and doubt. He didn't know what would happen next, but he believed Dr. Lin would find out.
Dr. Lin turned on a sophisticated device and attached several electrodes to Ethan's scalp. Her movements were skilled and professional, and she was clearly at home with these operations. The instrument began to hum, and the screen displayed a series of complex graphs and data.
Elena stood nervously aside, not taking her eyes off the screen. "Is he going to be all right, Doctor?"
"I'll do my best," Dr. Lin replied curtly, staring intently at the data on the screen. "It'll tell us what's going on in his brain."
After a few minutes, Dr. Lin carefully examined the data on the screen, frowning slightly. She adjusted the instrument and ran the scan again. This time, the data was more detailed, and her expression more solemn.
"Elena, come look," Dr. Lin beckoned Elena closer. "These are maps of Ethan's brain activity."
Elena looked at the complex graphics and data on the screen, and although she did not quite understand the specific meaning of it, she could sense the seriousness of the matter.
"His brain wave activity was very abnormal," Dr. Lin explained, "especially during the time he was appearing in his dreams." His brain waves show extreme instability, almost like two personalities fighting."
"What does that mean?" Elena asked anxiously.
"This could mean that Ethan's brain is experiencing some kind of mental disruption," Dr. Lin mused. "This kind of phenomenon is not uncommon in psychopaths, but his problems are clearly more complex."
Although Ethan was lying down, he kept listening to Dr. Lin's explanation. He felt a wave of fear, knowing that he might have a real problem, but he still hoped to find a way to solve it.
"Dr. Lin, what should I do?" Ethan asked, a tremor in his voice.
Dr. Lin looked at Ethan, his eyes full of compassion and concern, "We need to do more tests, but from the current situation, you may have some kind of mental illness." This disorder causes your brain to produce abnormal dreams during sleep and even makes you act out of control in reality."
"Mental illness?" Ethan felt a wave of despair; he never thought he would have such a problem.
"Yes," Dr. Lin nodded, "but that doesn't mean you don't have hope." Modern medicine already has many ways to help you, and we need to find the best treatment for you."
Elena clasped Ethan's hand and said firmly, "We will face it together, no matter how difficult it is."
Dr. Lin went on to conduct more detailed examinations, including some psychological tests and brain imaging scans. She carefully records every piece of data and analyzes every detail, hoping to find a more accurate diagnosis.
"Ethan's case is very unique," Dr. Lin said after analyzing the data. "The line between his dreams and reality is very blurred, which could be a manifestation of his mental illness."
"Will he be all right then?" "Elena asked, her voice full of hope.
"We need time," Dr. Lin replied, "but I believe that with scientific methods and proper treatment, it is possible for Ethan to return to a normal life."
Ethan felt a surge of hope, and though his heart was still filled with doubt and fear, he knew he wasn't alone. He has the support of Elena and Dr. Lin, and the care of the whole village. He is determined to face it bravely and find the answer to his nightmare and restore his health.
Dr. Lin began to develop a detailed treatment plan, including medication, psychotherapy and some specific brain training. She also suggested some relaxation and meditation practices to help Ethan reduce stress and stabilize his mood.
"It's a long process," Dr. Lin told Ethan and Elena, "but as long as we keep at it, I'm sure you'll recover."
Ethan nodded, full of determination. He knows he still has a long way to go, but he is not alone. He has Elena's support, Dr. Lin's help, and the care of the whole village. He is determined to face it bravely and find the answer to his nightmare and restore his health.
"Thank you, Dr. Lin," Ethan said gratefully. "I will try to cooperate with the treatment and find my own answers."
Dr. Lin smiled and nodded, with a gleam of confidence in his eyes, "Let's work together, Ethan, and you can do it."
After working out a detailed treatment plan, Dr. Lin decided to give Ethan an in-depth dream probe. She prepared some sleeping pills for Ethan, hoping to learn more about his dreams by putting him into a deep sleep, while recording everything he did in his dreams.
"Ethan, it's a sleeping pill to help you fall into deeper sleep," Dr. Lin explained. "We need to understand what's going on in your dreams so we can really work on it."
Ethan nodded and picked up the pill, a flicker of hesitation in his eyes, but he knew it was a necessary step. He took a deep breath, swallowed the pill, then lay down on the bed in the lab, closed his eyes, and waited for the effects to kick in.
Elena squeezed his hand and whispered, "No matter what happens, I'll be there for you."
Ethan smiled, feeling Elena's warmth and support. He gradually felt a wave of sleepiness and began to lose consciousness. Soon he fell into a deep sleep.
Dr. Lin activates the machine to monitor Ethan's brain activity and prepares to record everything he does in his dreams. She knew that this probe could be the key to unlocking the mystery of Ethan's nightmare.
When Ethan opened his eyes again, he found himself standing in a strange forest. The scene here was very different from his previous dreams. The trees around were tall and thick, and the sun shone through their leaves on the ground, but there was a smell of decay in the air. There is not that kind of spooky atmosphere here, but it makes people feel a little desolate.
He looked around for the mysterious man who had saved him, but there was no one around. Ethan knows that this time he must explore the world alone and find the answers in his dreams.
He stepped into the forest and found that although the trees were tall, many were dead and their trunks were full of cracks and wormholes. The ground was covered with thick, dead leaves, rustling with every step. There was an oppressive smell of decay in the air.
"What is this place? Ethan mumbled, confused.
He went on and found a path deep in the forest, with weeds and thorns on both sides. Ethan walked the path carefully to avoid being stung by thorns. His footsteps were distinctly audible in the silent forest, as if everything around him were silently watching him.
After walking a little while, Ethan came to an open lot, in the middle of which was a broken stone tablet with some strange symbols carved on it. The stone tablets are badly weathered and many of the symbols are blurred. Ethan stepped forward and examined the symbols, trying to find clues to unravel them.
"What do these symbols mean?" Ethan whispered, his eyes full of curiosity.
He caressed the symbols on the stele with his hand and felt a cold touch. Although he could not fully understand the meaning of these symbols, he had an inkling that they were related to the secrets of the world.
Ethan decides to keep exploring, hoping to find more clues. He went to the other side of the clearing and found a path leading deeper into the forest. As he walked along the path, the scene around him became more and more desolate. The trees thinned out, giving way to abandoned buildings.
The buildings had apparently been abandoned for a long time, the walls were riddled with cracks and the roofs had caved in. Ethan walked into a dilapidated house and found it empty except for scattered rubble and dead leaves. There was a musty smell in the air and a twinge of discomfort.
"What the hell happened here?" Ethan asked, confused.
He continued to explore the abandoned village and found that many houses had collapsed and the ground was covered with weeds and vines. Apparently, this was once a prosperous place, but now all that remains is dilapidation and desolation.
Ethan felt a sense of loss, wondering why he had come to this place or where its inhabitants had gone. He was determined to keep exploring, hoping to find more clues.
While he was walking, he came to a lake. The lake is crystal clear, and the sun's rays are reflected on the surface. By the lake stood a huge dead tree, its trunk full of cracks, but still standing. Ethan walked to the lake, crouched down, took a handful of water, and took a sip.
The water was cold and clear, and it refreshed him. Ethan feels a little comforted, knowing that he must move on and find the clue to unlock the secrets of this world.
Just then he heard a deep growl in the distance. Ethan quickly stood up, looking around warily. Although he could not see any movement, he knew he was not alone.
He decided to continue along the lake, hoping to find more clues. After walking for some time, he found a path by the lake that led deep into the forest. Ethan walked down the path and found an open meadow ahead of him.
In the middle of the meadow stood a tall stone tower, which was crumbling and the walls were covered with cracks and moss. Ethan went to the stone tower and found that the door of the stone tower was closed, and some strange symbols were carved on it.
"What can be in this stone tower?" Ethan whispered, full of curiosity.
He pushed open the door of the stone tower and found it dark and damp. There was a musty smell in the air and a twinge of discomfort. Ethan took out the match he had with him and lit one, illuminating the scene inside the stone tower.
The interior of the stone tower is empty and dilapidated, with some old furniture and debris scattered on the ground. Ethan walked carefully inside the stone tower, looking around for clues. He went to the center of the stone tower and found a huge stone slab on the ground with some strange symbols carved on it.
"What are these symbols?" Ethan mumbled, looking closely at the symbols.
He ran his hand gently over the symbols on the SLATE and felt a cold touch. Although he could not fully understand the meaning of these symbols, he had an inkling that they were related to the secrets of the world.
Just then a low growl came from outside the stone tower. Ethan felt a surge of tension, and he knew he had to find the clue quickly and get out of here. He continued to search inside the stone tower and found some more complex symbols carved on the walls.
"These symbols must mean something," Ethan said firmly. "I must unravel them."
He lit the symbols with a match and scrutinized every detail. Although he could not fully understand their meaning for a moment, he knew he had to keep working to find the clue to unravel it.
As the minutes ticked by, Ethan felt a wave of exhaustion, but he knew he couldn't give up. He decided to spend the night in the stone tower and continue to explore the world. He found a relatively dry place, lay down, closed his eyes, and tried to relax.
In the dark stone tower, Ethan felt a wave of sleepiness. He knew he had to stay alert, but his tired body could no longer keep him awake. Soon, he fell into a light sleep.
In real life, Dr. Lin closely monitored Ethan's brain activity and noticed that his brain waves became active again after a brief lull. She quickly recorded the data, hoping to find something useful.
Ethan in the dream suddenly woke up in his light sleep, he felt a low growling sound outside the stone tower, as if some giant animal was approaching. He rose quickly and watched the door of the stone tower warily, holding a stone in his hand as a weapon of defense.
Ethan felt a wave of fear as the roar came closer, but he knew he couldn't back down. He decides to face it all and find the real answer in his dream.
