Chapter 26: Chapter 25 Return to dream

Ethan's room door was gently pushed open, and a breath of fresh air poured in. The figure of a young woman appeared in the doorway, her eyes full of anxiety and worry. This is Elena, Ethan's childhood sweetheart, who grew up with him and has always been very concerned about his illness.

Elena walked into the hospital room and saw Ethan lying on the bed with a pained look on his face. She whispered, "Ethan, it's me, Elena."

Ethan's eyelids quivered and he opened them slowly. His eyes gradually focused and he saw Elena standing beside the bed, with a hint of surprise and emotion in her eyes. "Elena... There you are..."

"Of course I did. I was worried about you." Elena sat on the edge of the bed, holding Ethan's hand, her eyes filled with tenderness.

Ethan felt warmth, as if he had found light in the darkness. His consciousness began to clear, and he no longer felt as confused and helpless as before. He knows that all this is inseparable from Elena's care and support.

"Thank you, Elena. You have no idea how much you mean to me." Ethan whispered, tears glistening in his eyes.

Elena smiled and nodded, "You're someone who's important to me too, Ethan. I will always be there for you through this difficult time."

Just as the two were having a warm conversation, Dr. Lin entered the ward. She glanced between Elena and Ethan, smiled and said, "Hello, Elena. I'm Dr. Lin, Ethan's attending physician."

Elena stood up and politely responded, "Hello, Dr. Lin. Thank you for taking care of Ethan."

Dr. Lin smiled and nodded, "It's my job. Ethan's condition has been a bit volatile lately, but it's looking better now."

"Ethan, is he going to be okay?" Elena asked with concern.

Dr. Lin looked firm, "We are doing our best to treat him. I'm sure he'll recover if he keeps at it."

Elena nodded gratefully, her eyes fell on Ethan again, "Ethan, you must refuel, we are waiting for you."

Ethan felt the warmth of knowing he was not alone and that there were so many people who cared and supported him. He felt his consciousness gradually clear, as if he had a new strength.

Dr. Lin looked at this scene and thought to himself. She knew that Ethan's mental state was gradually recovering, but in order for the research to continue, she had to get him back to that dream. She walked over to the bed and pretended to inadvertently place a bottle of sleeping pills on Ethan's bedside table.

"Ethan, here are some sleeping pills. If you can't sleep at night, take one to help you sleep." Dr. Lin said with a smile.

Ethan nodded, a little confused. He knew what Dr. Lin was up to, but he also knew he had to find the answer to that dream. He decided to follow Dr. Lin's arrangement, take a sleeping pill, and enter the unknown world again.

Night fell and the room was silent. Elena had left, and Ethan lay alone in bed, thinking about everything that had happened during the day. He knew he had to find the answer to be truly free.

He picked up the sleeping pill on the nightstand, took a deep breath, and decided to give it a try. He put the pill in his mouth and swallowed it, feeling a drowsy sensation spread through his body. His eyelids grew heavy and his consciousness faded.

Ethan entered that dark dream again. He found himself in a grim forest, surrounded by tall, dense trees, and mottled light and shadow as the moonlight filtered through gaps in the leaves. The air smelled of blood and fear.

Ethan entered that dark dream again. He found himself in a grim forest, surrounded by tall, dense trees, and mottled light and shadow as the moonlight filtered through gaps in the leaves. The air smelled of blood and fear. He realized that the forest was different from the place he and Matthew had dreamed of before. It was darker and weirder, and seemed to harbor more danger.

Ethan took a deep breath and decided to follow the forest path. He knew he had to find Matthew and learn more about the dream and himself. He kept a watchful eye all the way to avoid being caught by the dangers hidden in the darkness. After hours of trudging, he finally saw the edge of the forest.

Walking through the forest, he found himself in a small town. The town was brightly lit and bustling, and seemed in stark contrast to the gloom of the forest. Ethan breathed a sigh of relief, knowing he was safe for now. He decided to find a place to rest and think about his next move.

Ethan walked into a tavern in town. The place was full of people talking and laughing, completely unaware of his arrival. He sat at a table in the corner, ordered a glass of wine, and quietly observed his surroundings. As he pondered how to find Matthew, a familiar figure appeared in the doorway.

'Matthew! Ethan exclaimed in a low voice. He got up and walked toward the man.

Matthew turned and saw Ethan, with a look of surprise and delight on his face. He walked quickly over and squeezed Ethan's hand. "Ethan, it's so good that you're here!"

Ethan felt a warmth and knew he was in the right place, "Matthew, I've been looking for you. What the hell happened? Why were we separated?"

Matthew sighed and motioned for Ethan to sit down, and as they sat down together at the corner table, Matthew began to explain. "That day by the stream, you suddenly went berserk, burst into a speed never seen before, and disappeared into the woods in an instant. I gave chase, but I couldn't catch up with you."

Ethan frowned. "I don't remember losing my mind. I just remember panicking."

Matthew nodded, "You could have been completely unconscious during that time, just running away by instinct." You run all the way, and then you disappear deep into the forest. I've been looking for you, and I haven't heard from you until today."

Ethan felt confused. "But why am I like this? What's going on?"

Matthew thought for a moment, then said, "I think it's your fear deep inside. You experience so much stress and distress in real life that it manifests itself in extreme ways in your dreams."

Ethan nodded, confused and uneasy, "So what do we do now? How can I get out of these dreams and get back to reality?"

Matthew looked at Ethan with a flicker of determination in his eyes, "We must find the heart of this dream and unlock its secrets." Only then can you truly be free."

Ethan took a deep breath and decided to take on the challenge, "Okay, Matthew, let's find out the truth together."

Matthew smiled and nodded, "Don't worry, Ethan, I'll always be there for you."

The two men decided to take a short break in the pub to gather their thoughts and move on. They know that the road ahead is full of unknowns and dangers, but as long as the two of them work together, they will be able to find the answer to the dream.

Early the next morning, Ethan and Matthew left the tavern and walked toward the center of town. The people of the town went about their business completely unaware of the arrival of the two strangers. Ethan and Matthew decide to ask around town to see if they can find any clues about the dream.

They went into a small shop where the owner was an elderly man who was arranging the goods on the shelves. Ethan stepped forward and asked politely, "Hello, old man, we are travelers from out of town and want to know something about this town."

The old man looked up, squinted at Ethan and Matthew for a moment, then smiled kindly. "What do you want to know, young man?"

Ethan hesitated and said, "We heard that there is a mysterious sect here called the Earth Dragon Religion, I wonder if you know about it."

The old man's expression changed slightly, and then returned to normal, "Earth dragon religion? Why do you ask about this?"

"We have some questions that need to be answered, and perhaps only the Earth Dragon Religion can help us." Matthew explained, a touch of pleading in his eyes.

The old man was silent for a moment, seemed to weigh something, and finally nodded, "The Earth dragon religion does exist, but they are very secret." If you really want to find them, you can go to the woods north of town. There's a branch of them there."

Ethan and Matthew thanked the old man, left the shop, and walked toward the woods on the north side of town. Through the forest, they finally found a hidden altar, near which several men in priestly garb were busy.

"We found it." Ethan whispered, a mixture of anticipation and nervousness.

As they approached, a man who looked like a high priest noticed them and said coldly, "Who are you? What are you doing here?"

Ethan took a deep breath and replied, "We're here for help. I'm having some problems that I can't explain, and I hope you can help me out."

The high priest frowned, "The dragon religion does not help outsiders casually." Why do you think we'll help you?"

Matthew stepped forward and explained, "We had previously met a high priest who called himself the Earth Dragon Religion, and he said there was something special about my friend's bloodline that would be useful to the Earth Dragon religion."

When the high priest heard this, his face became more gloomy, "The Earth Dragon religion has never sent any high priest to contact outsiders." What you have met is not our people at all."

Ethan felt a twinge of confusion, but he didn't give up. He had to find the answer. He asked the High priest for permission to visit the Earth Dragon religion, hoping to find some clues. The high priest pondered for a moment and finally granted his request.

"Well, I can show you around, but you have to follow our rules." The High priest said coldly, and led Ethan and Matthew into the mystical realm of Draco.

Ethan and Matthew follow the High Priest through a dense forest to a holy place hidden in a valley. It was a far cry from the Earth Dragon religion Ethan had seen before. The architectural style of the whole denomination is ancient and mysterious, and exudes a strong divine atmosphere. The sacred fire was burning on the altar, and the air was filled with the smell of incense.

"It was completely different from anything I had seen before." Ethan whispered, his heart full of doubt.

When the High priest heard this, he turned to Ethan. "What did you see before?"

Ethan described in detail his previous experiences in the Earth Dragon religion, including the appearance and behavior of the man who called himself the High Priest. The more the high priest listened, the more doubtful he became, and a flicker of doubt and thought crossed his eyes.

"You're talking about things we've never heard of." "But if you really have seen the Drilongists, then we should go and see them."

The high priest made a sign for Ethan to follow him. The two walked to a flat clearing where the high priest waved his staff and recited an ancient spell. Suddenly, the ground beneath them began to glow, creating a complex teleportation array.

"We're going to the place you remember." "Said the High priest, and he led Ethan and Matthew into the telesphere.

After a flash of dazzling light, they emerged in a desolate wasteland. It is overgrown with weeds and ruins, as if there had been a great disaster. Ethan looked around and saw that this was exactly the place he had remembered, only that it was now a complete ruin.

"This is... How did this come to be?" Ethan said in shock, filled with confusion and fear.

The high priest also frowned and examined his surroundings carefully. "It seems that there has been some great change here."

Ethan recalled his previous experience here, the man who called himself the High priest and the congregation, where did they go? Why is this place in ruins?

"We have to find out." "Said the high priest, with a determined gleam in his eyes." If what you say is true, this place must be hiding some secrets."

Ethan nodded, determined to find out the truth. He and Matthew followed the High priest through the ruins, hoping to find some clues. Next to an abandoned altar, they found ancient documents and symbols that seemed to record important information.

"These symbols... It looks like an ancient script from the dragon religion." "Said the high priest, studying the documents and symbols.

Ethan also looked closer and noticed that the symbols were very similar to what he had seen before in the Earth Dragon Religion, but the content was completely different.

"What do they record?" Ethan asked, full of curiosity.

"These seem to describe some kind of ritual and prophecy." The high priest replied, with a flash of surprise in his eyes, "It does seem that there is some connection with the Earth Dragon religion, but what it is, we need to study further."

As they continued to study the documents, a sudden wave of intense energy came from deep within the ruins. The High priest was immediately alert and motioned for Ethan and Matthew to be quiet.

"Something is approaching." "Whispered the high priest, with a watchful twinkle in his eye.

Ethan and Matthew held their breath and watched nervously. Moments later, a figure emerged from the rubble, radiating a powerful wave of energy.

"Who are you? Why did you come here?" 'asked the figure coldly, with authority and cruelty in his voice.

The High priest stepped forward and responded, "We are from the Earth Dragon religion and have come here in search of some lost secrets." Who are you?"

The figure was silent for a moment, then said, "I am the guardian here. You should not enter this forbidden area."

Ethan felt a chill. He could feel the great power emanating from the Guardian, and he was more nervous.

The high priest also felt the pressure, but he did not flinch. "We need to know what is going on here. It concerns the secrets of our sect."

The guardian looked coldly at the high priest for a moment and then said, "Since you want to know, come with me."
