Fairy Tail: Strongest Creature

Chapter 286: Getting Serious

High above the ruined city, Rogue of the future stood astride the King Kong Dragon, Motherglare, surveying the devastation below.

"Magnificent!" he exclaimed. "Behold the true power of dragons—the world shall tremble before me. With this might, I will slay Acnologia and rule as Dragon King!"

The sky blackened as he intoned an ancient draconic verse:

"Shatter earth, burn sky,

Let life's light vanish—

I am the newborn Dragon King,

Shadow turned to absolute light!"

His triumphant speech ended as a sudden, agonized roar that cut through the battlefield's din. Every dragon froze, scanning the streets below in disbelief.

"What—what is that?!" bellowed a crimson wyrm.

Mages and dragons alike fell silent, ears straining toward the source of the cry.

Below, amid shattered masonry, lay a colossal dragon—the emerald-scaled Lakimus—its mighty form broken. Mages gasped.

"Impossible…they killed Lakimus?!" one cried.

A murmur spread: "Who defeated Lakimus?"

The name spread like wildfire: "Su Yan! Fairy Tail's Su Yan!"

Even Rogue's grin faltered. In his own future, no such hero existed—and certainly no human had ever slain a true dragon. Determination flared in his eyes.

"I will not allow this mortal to upend my destiny!" he snarled. "Scissor Runner, Liberia—finish him!"

The two dragons obeyed, abandoning their duels with Sting, Rogue, and Gajeel to converge on Su Yan's position.

Sting and Rogue collapsed from exhaustion. "He's heading to Su Yan?" Sting panted. "Do you think…?"

Rogue shook his head. "He may be human, but he slew Lakimus—no doubt he can handle them."

On the bloodied back of Atlas Flame, Su Yan paused to catch his breath. Even before his recent Awakening, he'd wondered just how much his strength had grown. Now he knew: he could fell ordinary dragons like these—but Acnologia would still require more.

Above him, Scissor Runner and Liberia landed with thunderous impact.

"Human!" Scissor Runner hissed. "Did you slay Lakimus?"

"Save your taunts," Su Yan replied coolly, standing atop the fallen beast. "The one beneath me gives lie to your arrogance."

Liberia bristled. "Then you cannot hide any longer!"

Su Yan's aura blazed with Overlord and Armament power. The ground shook under his feet as dark clouds gathered overhead, crackling with unleashed thunder.

"Are you finally coming?" Laxus's voice carried on the wind, relief and excitement mingling in his tone. "It took you long enough."

At Laxus's words, Su Yan's lips curved into a grim smile. Tonight, he would fight with everything he had—no holding back.
