Douluo Dalu 2: Sun-Moon Glory

Huo Yuhao scratched his head sheepishly. 'Well, it can't be helped—after all, I am Huo the Cheat.'

Where a single red ring was once a rarity across the continent, now hundred-thousand-year soul beasts were practically lining up to become his soul rings. Anything less than forty or fifty—no, make that sixty-thousand years—would be embarrassed to show up.

Thinking of that, Huo Yuhao suddenly remembered the Evil-Eyed Tyrant Lord. 'Wait a minute… in the original story, didn't I kill the Evil-Eyed Tyrant Lord and get an external soul bone from its eyes? Wasn't that one of the top ten ferocious beasts—ranked second, even?'

So now he was faced with a dilemma. 'Should I still absorb this 80,000-year external eye bone from the Demon Soul Great White Shark?'

He took out the crystal-clear pair of eye bones, falling into deep thought.

Though he couldn't obtain the Tyrant Lord's eye bone just yet, absorbing this one would still be a huge boost to his current strength. But once he absorbed it, he likely wouldn't be able to take in the 700,000-year one in the future. That could impact his long-term potential.

As he pondered, he subconsciously injected a wisp of Ultimate Ice soul power into the eye bone.

Suddenly, the once-colorless bone burst into brilliant blue light. As the glow faded, the transparent crystal had turned a rich, gleaming blue.

Seeing this, Huo Yuhao's eyes sharpened. Meng Hongchen, startled, asked, "What just happened, Yuhao? Why do I feel like this soul bone's attribute has changed to ice?"

Huo Yuhao nodded slowly. 'Could this bone be just like Shuu Shuu's original body… with both ice and spiritual attributes?'

As the two of them puzzled over it, Shuu Shuu suddenly emerged, her smaller shark form drifting around the room. Upon spotting the bone in Huo Yuhao's hands, her eyes widened with surprise.

"That's… my Eye Ring?"

Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen exchanged a confused look. "Shuu Shuu, what's an Eye Ring? Isn't this your eye bone?"

Indeed, the "eye bone" in Huo Yuhao's hand was ring-shaped. Since it had come from the shark's eye area, he'd assumed it was a typical external soul bone for the eyes.

Shuu Shuu giggled adorably. "The Eye Ring is a special body structure unique to gifted members of the Demon Soul Great White Shark tribe who possess more than one attribute—like me, hehe."

She continued cheerfully, "This structure helps us control multiple attributes more effectively. For example, I have both ice and spiritual attributes. The Eye Ring helps amplify both types of power. Most importantly, it lets us instantly switch between the two attributes. Simply put, it allows us to release soul skills of two different attributes at the same time—but it only consumes the soul power of one!"

Huo Yuhao's expression turned serious.

Soul masters could use two soul skills simultaneously, yes—but doing so consumed a tremendous amount of soul power. If those attacks didn't land effectively, it would be a waste, both in terms of energy and strategy.

But Shuu Shuu was saying that this Eye Ring allowed for dual-attribute skill usage at half the soul power cost. That was practically divine-tier utility.

"Shuu Shuu, so you're saying… if I absorb your Eye Ring, it won't interfere with me absorbing another external eye bone later?"

Huo Yuhao asked carefully. He was seriously tempted. A dual-attribute Eye Ring of ice and spirit—it was practically tailor-made for him.

Shuu Shuu thought about it for a moment, wagged her little shark fin, and nodded with certainty. "That should be the case."

Huo Yuhao nodded heavily. He had made up his mind.

Meng Hongchen smiled at him with warmth in her eyes. "This soul bone might as well have been made just for you, Yuhao. Hurry and absorb it."

"Alright, Senior Meng."

Watching the two of them get all lovey-dovey again, Shuu Shuu rolled her eyes. 'Can these two be any more clingy?' With a puff of spiritual embarrassment, she darted back into Meng Hongchen's spiritual sea to rest.

Another night passed. It was now the second day of the Sun Moon's return voyage.

That night, Huo Yuhao had successfully absorbed the Eye Ring soul bone. As he emerged from his meditative state, he opened his eyes to find Meng Hongchen—already awake—pulling open the cabin window curtains and admiring the beautiful ocean view beyond.

"Good morning, Senior."

Huo Yuhao greeted her with a soft smile, their usual affectionate morning exchange.

Hearing his voice, Meng Hongchen turned and smiled sweetly.

"Good morning, Yuhao. How did the soul bone absorption go?"

She walked over and sat down beside him, leaning her body gently against his.

After several days of living and traveling closely together on the sea, their bond had grown noticeably stronger. Many things they might've been shy about before now felt completely natural.

Huo Yuhao gently pinched her freshly washed, soft, cool cheek. "Very well, Senior Meng. The results were great. Just the boost to my ice attribute and spiritual power alone was at least ten percent."

He stood, gave her a gentle head pat, and headed to the bathroom to wash up. "Senior Meng, today I want to see that new soul skill of yours in action."

"Hehe, just wait and see!"

Due to the long voyage, meals aboard the Sun Moon were fairly simple. But since the ship was carrying soul engineers of notable status, the portions were generous, and the taste wasn't too bad either.

Hand in hand, Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen walked into the dining hall, glancing at the food options and smiling as they returned the enthusiastic greetings of the crew.

"This food definitely has a unique sea flavor."

Huo Yuhao examined the dishes and gave his honest opinion. On the Douluo Continent, food preservation wasn't particularly advanced, and the damp, humid conditions at sea made fresh storage impractical. Most of the food aboard was dry rations—hardtack, jerky, smoked meats, freeze-dried vegetables—all carefully prepared by a few soul engineer chefs who knew their way around a kitchen.
