Chapter 174: Chapter 172: Senior Meng's First Soul Spirit
Upon hearing Huo Yuhao's words, the fated and unfortunate princess of the Demon Soul Great White Shark tribe fell into a long silence. She was fully aware of her own condition—there was no need for Huo Yuhao to remind her. At this point, there was no other choice left.
"I cannot die just like this. I still don't know what's happened to my father and mother. A soul spirit, you say? Human, I agree to become the soul spirit of the young lady beside you. But on one condition—you must promise to help me search for any news about my parents. After the massive attack from the Deep Sea Devil Whales, their life or death remains unknown."
As she spoke, the trio could clearly feel the overwhelming sadness in her otherwise pure and clear spiritual voice.
Huo Yuhao considered her words for a moment. Then, locking eyes with Meng Hongchen, he nodded and said solemnly, "Princess, we agree to your request. We'll do everything we can to gather news about your parents and your Demon Soul Great White Shark tribe."
Hearing Huo Yuhao's answer, the shark princess seemed to relax. She replied weakly, "Then let's begin. Forming the contract with this beautiful human lady... I don't think I have much time left."
Huo Yuhao nodded. Holding Meng Hongchen's hand, he activated his diving soul tool and exited the protective shield Shi Dongsheng had erected. Together, they swam to the front of the Demon Soul Great White Shark.
"Please relax, Princess."
Huo Yuhao had Meng Hongchen hold still before the shark's forehead. It was time to begin the process of forming a soul spirit contract.
He continued,."Princess, I'll now begin guiding the formation of your soul imprint. You must relax your body and work with me to fuse your natural talent and soul imprint together. Everything must be done willingly. Then, I will help you two form the contract."
The contract Huo Yuhao was about to forge would be an unequal one. One reason was that the shark's body was near death and could no longer serve as a vessel for her soul. Another was to ensure that Meng Hongchen had absolute control over the soul spirit. Given the princess's passive position, she had no real say in the terms. Naturally, Huo Yuhao would ensure that the human side benefited more.
The Demon Soul Great White Shark let out a low hum and slowly closed her eyes.
Huo Yuhao stared intently at her. On his forehead, the Eye of Creation and Annihilation slowly opened. To ensure success, he would give it his all. A spiritual power, not overly intense but thick and immersive, flowed out from his body and enveloped Meng Hongchen and the Demon Soul Great White Shark.
A soft green light shot out from Huo Yuhao's Eye of Creation and Annihilation, landing on the shark's forehead.
She trembled briefly before falling back into a peaceful stillness.
With the power of life-infused spiritual energy, Huo Yuhao penetrated deep into her mind, searching for her soul imprint and spiritual source while also healing her spirit to help her completely relax.
Without rushing, he gently emitted calm, soothing thoughts and guided the shark to coordinate with his spiritual power. A soft blue glow began to appear on her body. Under his direction, her spiritual source, soul imprint, a portion of her most refined soul power, and the mysterious energy within her bloodline began to condense.
The process was long and meticulous. After all, this was a soul beast with over 80,000 years of cultivation. It was also Huo Yuhao's first time attempting such a contract with a physical entity. He dared not be careless in the slightest. Fortunately, with Electrolux's support, the entire process was exponentially smoother and safer.
Shi Dongsheng kept his gaze fixed on the trio.
'Will I truly witness this historic moment—the first step toward a future of peaceful coexistence between humans and soul beasts?'
After a full quarter of an hour, the golden light on the shark's body began to intensify. It started flowing forward from her tail, and wherever it passed, her body dimmed and withered. Her tail lost its shine first, followed by her body. The golden light, however, grew ever brighter as it advanced.
Finally, the golden glow gathered entirely at the shark's head. It became so radiant that her form could no longer be seen.
Huo Yuhao lifted his left hand. A staff made of golden light formed in his grasp. A deep and ancient chant began to echo from his lips.
The chant was clear, yet no one could understand the language. The strange syllables seemed to stir the very elements of heaven and earth.
A golden six-pointed star gradually formed, suspended in the ocean. It enveloped Huo Yuhao, Meng Hongchen, and the Demon Soul Great White Shark.
Huo Yuhao's body slowly began to rise. Suddenly, his chant grew louder. Behind him, a silver figure—unseen by all—also began chanting in harmony. It was Electrolux, whose presence was imperceptible to others.
Though they couldn't see the figure, Shi Dongsheng could feel the overwhelming spiritual pressure that suddenly erupted. His expression grew solemn. 'This boy... just what kind of secrets is he hiding? Should I say it's no wonder he's Jing Hongchen's final disciple, or that Jing Hongchen is fortunate to have a disciple like him?'
Beneath Meng Hongchen and the Demon Soul Great White Shark, the six-pointed star glowed ever brighter. Strange symbols began to rise into the water, circling around their bodies. Gentle waves of spiritual and soul power fluctuated around them.
As time passed, the glow from the star intensified. The number of symbols increased.
Then suddenly, the symbols froze in place. The massive body of the Demon Soul Great White Shark tilted and collapsed within the six-pointed star, her life force completely extinguished.
Shi Dongsheng's eyes widened in alarm. 'Did the soul spirit contract fail?'
But the next instant, all the symbols surged into Meng Hongchen's body like rivers flowing into the sea. A black soul ring—at least a size larger than normal—rose beneath her feet. As it ascended, her original five soul rings all dimmed considerably.
"Shuu—!"
A crisp and joyful cry rang out.
Meng Hongchen's new black soul ring glowed brilliantly. Her body became momentarily translucent, and then—an elegant white figure emerged from her chest, swimming joyfully through the ocean.
It was the soul form of the Demon Soul Great White Shark princess who had just perished.
Now reborn as a soul spirit, she no longer carried the burdens of tragedy or the taint of corruption. What remained was the pure beauty befitting a princess of the Demon Soul Great White Shark tribe.
