Around the Sunlight, Huo Yuhao saw countless grotesque, torn remains of sea soul beasts drifting in the water. The soul rings of those already dead had long since vanished.

But amid the floating carcasses, one figure stood out—a slender and strikingly beautiful great white shark, its body smeared with blood, its once-clear eyes now dim and flickering with an eerie red glow. Thick chains bound it tightly to the hull of the Sunlight.

Shi Dongsheng activated a diving shield, a bubble-like layer of energy that encased the three of them as they slowly floated toward the shark. Huo Yuhao furrowed his brow at the sight. This must be the eighty-thousand-year soul beast. Judging by its appearance, it was likely a Demon Soul Great White Shark.

'Eighty thousand years… Demon Soul Great White Shark… high status... Could it be…?'

He immediately thought of her—the princess of the Demon Soul Great White Shark clan, the one who eventually became the soul beast wife of Tang Xuanyu in the original timeline twenty thousand years later.

"But look at the deep blue mark on its forehead," Shi Dongsheng pointed out. "That's the trait of an ice-type Demon Soul Great White Shark. None of the other ten-thousand-year sea soul beasts were suitable for Xiao Meng. Only this one—I made sure not to kill it."

He stared at the creature, brows knit. "Still... something seems off. Look at that red glow in its eyes—it's not right. Like it's stuck in some kind of frenzied state. And judging by some of its physical features, its status among the Demon Soul Great White Shark clan isn't low. That's what's most troubling."

He paused, and Huo Yuhao picked up the thread.

"Demon Soul Great White Sharks are social soul beasts, Captain Shi. Among the other sea soul beast corpses, were there any from the same species?"

Shi Dongsheng shook his head.

Even a veteran sailor like him found the situation suspicious.

Huo Yuhao, though outwardly contemplative, was already in turmoil inside. 'Why is she here?' According to the original story, she should never have appeared in this region. Clearly, something had changed. 'Could my presence as the "child of fate" in the Sun Moon Empire have already caused the timeline to shift this far? Even into the domain of sea soul beasts? That's terrifying…'

'Forget it. No matter what happened, this eighty-thousand-year-old Demon Soul Great White Shark is barely alive. Whatever her story is, when she dies, she'll just become a black soul ring. Xiao Meng, are you really going to absorb this ring? I'd suggest you think twice. The age is too high. If it were me, I'd consider it for my eighth ring.'

The beast can even continue to exist in this world."

Shi Dongsheng's jaw dropped. 'This kid still has more up his sleeve?!'

Meng Hongchen, however, just nodded knowingly. She had already heard about this method from Huo Yuhao and had been just as shocked the first time.

"Little Huo, what exactly is this method? Can you explain it to me?"

Huo Yuhao nodded. "I trust you, Captain Shi. But I hope you'll keep this to yourself."

He then began explaining the concept of soul spirits.

With the guidance of the fully revived Electrolux, the soul spirit system had become a complete, sophisticated framework.

There were two main types of contracts.

The first was the unequal soul spirit contract, similar to the ones in the original world. After forming this bond, the beast's soul would remain with the soul master—but once the master died, the soul would dissipate too.

The second was the more revolutionary equal soul spirit contract. In this bond, most of the beast's spirit followed the soul master, but its body remained intact—regardless of age, injury, or health. It would enter a dormant state, sustained by a small fragment of its spirit. If the soul master died, the beast's spirit could return to the body. As long as not too much time had passed or the body hadn't been damaged, it could awaken again.

Beasts bonded with equal contracts could later choose to upgrade to an unequal one, entrusting their entire soul to the master, sharing life and death.

When Huo Yuhao finished explaining, Shi Dongsheng stared in stunned silence.

'This soul spirit system is a total upheaval of the traditional soul ring hunting method!'

He was well aware of the growing crisis between humans and soul beasts—soul beasts were being hunted faster than they could reproduce. High-level soul rings were harder and harder to find, and the rift between soul beasts and humans was becoming sharper every year.

If this soul spirit system could be popularized, it wouldn't just ease the tension—it might solve the problem completely.

The only question now was: could this method actually be used?

Huo Yuhao admitted that, aside from the unique symbiotic contract he'd signed with the Snow Empress, he hadn't yet helped anyone else form a soul spirit bond. And a contract with a beast strong enough to threaten the soul master's life wasn't something most humans would accept—unless they had a relationship as special as his with the Snow Empress.

"But," Huo Yuhao added, "A soul spirit contract can be signed even with a beast whose age surpasses the normal absorption limit. This noble-looking Demon Soul Great White Shark would be a perfect soul spirit for Senior Meng."
