Chapter 10: Confrontation with Alice
Brad transformed into a small fox, perching on Emily's back as she took phoenix form. They shot out of the portal, soaring through the sky straight toward the apartment building. Landing gracefully, they transformed back into humans, their feet touching the ground in front of the door. Emily flung it open, and they both rushed in, only to find the apartment empty.
They frantically searched, looking for any sign of a demon presence or the mysterious girl, but the room was eerily lifeless. In their search, Emily stumbled, and Brad instinctively grabbed her before she could fall, their faces momentarily close.
"You two-timing bitch!" a furious voice shouted.
Emily and Brad looked toward the door to see the mysterious girl standing there, glaring at them.
"It's not what you think!" Emily exclaimed, pushing Brad away.
"Don't give me excuses! Where is my Adam?" the mysterious girl demanded.
"Your Adam?!" Emily retorted, utterly frustrated. "Adam is my husband! Who the hell are you?"
"Husband?! No way he'd marry such a slut like you! I'm Alice, his fiancée. His relatives have agreed on our future marriage," the mysterious girl declared.
"That's crazy coming from your mouth. Adam doesn't even know you. Are you delusional?" Emily glared fiercely.
"I believe it might be a misunderstanding. So please, calm down, both of you," Brad interjected, attempting to de-escalate the situation.
"Shut your handsome mouth!" Alice snapped, cutting Brad off. "Tell me where Adam is! I won't even bother you two. You can continue your sick fantasy together."
"Huh?! Why would I tell you where Adam is, since he doesn't even know you in the first place?" Emily retorted.
"He knows me, and I've been taking care of him the whole time! You, on the other hand, took the opportunity while he was unconscious to be with this handsome guy. It's disgusting! Who even does that?!" Alice spat.
"Oh my god! This girl is beyond help. Are you lost from your mental institute?" Emily countered with vengeance.
"You're the dumb one! It's normal for people coming out of a coma to have amnesia. You're taking advantage of his situation and leading him along in your sick, twisted game" Alice declared boldly, pointing at Emily.
Brad looked at Emily and quietly added, "She's got a point!"
Emily stomped on Brad's foot, and he winced in pain.
Memories of Emily and Adam's own misunderstanding when they first met in the other world flooded Emily's mind. She realized that unless one of them gave in, they would remain in a constant, unproductive argument.
"Okay, fine! I will bring you to Adam," Emily said, conceding to de-escalate the situation.
