Chapter 9: Unnamed demon

"What happened to Adam?!" the mysterious girl called out.

"He fainted, I need your help to get his things inside," Emily replied, seizing the opportunity.

The mysterious girl quickly ran into Adam's apartment. As soon as she entered, Emily kicked the door shut and transformed. Her body burst into flames as Emily's talons gripped Adam, and she soared into the sky at high speed, heading towards the mana point. The creatures there saw Emily in her phoenix form approaching rapidly, knowing something was amiss, and quickly opened the portal. Emily dove into the portal, flying through the Spiritual Realm directly to the elder's house.

Emily changed back as she dropped onto the elder's doorstep, still holding Adam. The elder, Kwaru, opened the door, stunned by the sight of Adam's black veins. They exchanged a glance, both knowing what it was.

"You have the remedy, right?!" Emily stated urgently.

"Yes, bring him inside," Kwaru said. As Adam was laid down, Kwaru's tense gaze quickly shifted as he rushed to his room, returning with the remedy. He forced it into Adam's mouth, and slowly, the black veins receded back to his heart. Adam gasped for air as Kwaru began healing him. Adam regulated his breathing, absorbing the abundant mana around him. His body began recovering with the flow of mana.

"Wow, Adam has mana manipulation technique!" Kwaru realized as he watched Adam's body recover.

"It's that demon, the one that can't be named," Emily spoke.

"I understand. I never thought it would return again. Out of all the people in the world, it chose Adam," Kwaru said, thinking of Adam's safety.

"How did it manage to return? It shouldn't be possible since he was already sealed during Solomon's time," Emily inquired.

"Humans must have worked with other demons to dig it out and unseal them," Kwaru believed.

"So, is Adam affected like the others?" Emily asked.

"It's still early. We managed to develop a remedy and save others before. However, it depends on how long it has been inside of him," Kwaru explained.

"I got him here as soon as it happened," Emily informed Kwaru.

"He should be fine then; he wouldn't be affected by it after this," Kwaru sighed in relief.

As Adam lay resting, Kwaru informed Emily that the portals were steadily closing one after another. The creatures were working hard to stop the calamity and easily managed to thwart it, thanks to Adam. They were indebted to him for discovering and foiling the invaders' plan.

Since Adam not only saved them from the calamity, his orb, which produced mana here, had caused massive changes in the spiritual world. Looking outside, the abundance of mana had steadily grown, making the realm rich with life. More creatures that had been in hiding had joined the community, expanding it. There was more manpower to close off the portals, making the threats slowly become nonexistent. The time of peace was here, and the creatures rejoiced, living freely in the spiritual realm.

Emily smiled, looking at Adam's face. His actions and decisions had helped create this peace. Emily felt proud of Adam as her husband, and a sense of stability settled into both her life and the world.

"I need your help to look after Adam. I need to go back to that place. It may be a problem for Adam to return there since we don't know what that demon wants with Adam," Emily stated.

"Don't go there alone. Bring the others with you," Kwaru advised.

Suddenly, the door opened, and Brad entered, having overheard the conversation. "Let me accompany you, Emily," Brad offered.

"Great. With both of you together, it would be safer," Kwaru said. Emily nodded, and they both walked out of the house together.

"I remember leaving someone in that apartment," Emily stated.

"Then we should hurry," Brad said with urgency.
