Demon Slayer: The Great Swordsman's System, Disciple of Yoriichi

Stepping into the cave, an unbearable stench of decay hit them. The deeper they went, the stronger the smell became. In the deepest part, a natural stone plaza opened up. Torches were embedded in the walls, their dim yellow light barely illuminating the surroundings.

A normal person would have died of fright at the sight.

On the plaza stood dozens and dozens of demons! A rough count put the number at sixty or seventy.

"What happened to you two?" a deep voice boomed. A demon over three meters tall, resembling a mountain of flesh, spoke.

"It was like this..." The Corpse Demon tossed the Tentacle Demon aside and briefly described what had just happened. After listening, the Meat Mountain Demon became enraged.

"Are you saying the two of you were discovered by a Demon Slayer?!" His fan-sized hand shot out and grabbed the Corpse Demon. With a slight squeeze, the Corpse Demon screamed in pain.

"Yes, I'm sorry! It's all this one's fault for getting discovered by that kid-like Demon Slayer. And his techniques are strange; the wounds we took won't heal."

Hearing this, the Meat Mountain Demon finally noticed the half-bodied Tentacle Demon. "Describe the boy's techniques in detail." He picked up the Tentacle Demon with two fingers, his eyes bloodshot. "If you miss a single key detail, I'll throw you out into the sun!"

Shivering, the Tentacle Demon recounted his encounter with Si Shu.

"Is that all?"

"Y-Yes..." The half-bodied demon trembled. "My body hurts so much... I need time to regenerate."

The words had barely left his mouth when an immense force slammed him into the ground. His already fragile body shattered again, leaving only half a head.

CRACK!

The stone ground of the plaza cracked and split outward from where the Tentacle Demon was, like ripples in water. "Useless thing. You can stay in there and regenerate," the Meat Mountain Demon snorted, having stomped him into the earth. Then he roared to the others, "Since a Demon Slayer has already discovered our tracks, we have to move the plan up! All of you, get ready! We move out in one hour! Then, everyone in that town, and those Demon Slayers, will all become our food!"

Hearing this, the other demons roared in excitement, their eyes turning red, drool dripping from their mouths.

When the Meat Mountain Demon announced the change of plans, Si Shu was already rushing back to the inn where Yoriichi was staying.

"Master, I found demons at the hot spring hotel."

After listening to Si Shu's account, Yoriichi's brow furrowed. He didn't understand why these demons, instead of hiding, were brazenly posing as human merchants. "Si Shu, what are your thoughts?"

After a moment of consideration, Si Shu took out a piece of paper and a brush. With a few strokes, a simple map of Yushui town appeared.

"In my opinion, there's more than just that one demon in town," he said, circling the spot where he had encountered the Tentacle Demon. "These demons are different from usual. They seem to be acting in an organized fashion, even with a dedicated rescue demon. Most importantly, if there were only a few of them, there would be no need to kill so many humans at once. The way he was taking away the corpses... it was like he was providing food for other demons."

Hearing this, Yoriichi already understood Si Shu's meaning. According to Si Shu's theory, the entire town was a living larder for these demons. A portion of the demons hid within the town, posing as humans running businesses like hotels. After attracting tourists, they would kill them. A small number of the corpses they would eat themselves, while the vast majority were transported out of town to supply the demons hiding outside.

"As for their hiding place," Si Shu continued, circling the mountain next to Yushui, "it's almost certainly in this mountain. Demons are picky about the freshness of their food. They would eat shortly after killing. Therefore, the only place that could hide a large number of demons without being discovered by humans is this mountain."

Yoriichi nodded, agreeing with Si Shu's assessment.

Just as they were about to discuss their next move, the慘 screams of humans suddenly echoed from outside the window. It was followed by another roar. Then another, and another. Though faint, Si Shu could hear dozens of different roars.

The demons are all attacking at once?

Instantly assessing the situation, Si Shu rushed to the window and looked out. The bustling, prosperous town was now a living hell. The cheerful people were fleeing in all directions, trying to escape the demons' attacks. From dark corners, a large hand or a tentacle would occasionally shoot out, dragging a despairing human into the darkness, followed by the sound of flesh being chewed.

There were human corpses everywhere and feasting demons everywhere. From his vantage point alone, Si Shu could see no fewer than twenty demons.

His right hand unconsciously tightened on the hilt of his sword. It was the first time he had ever seen such a scene.

"Are you afraid?" Yoriichi asked, walking to his student's side, his voice still calm as he took in the horrific scene outside.

"No," Si Shu said, his face resolute. "The moment I chose the path of a Demon Slayer, the word 'fear' was cast aside."

Seeing the determined expression on Si Shu's face, Yoriichi's own heart settled. For a Demon Slayer, the greatest taboo was fear. Once fear appeared in battle, it was basically a death sentence. But it seemed Si Shu had already overcome this problem.

"Let's go." Yoriichi strapped his sword to his waist, smashed the window, and leaped down.

"The hunt begins."

Drawing his Nichirin Blade, Si Shu jumped out as well. His target was a demon directly below!
